Evolv3 (https://www.evolvehq.com/) was just featured on RockPaperShotgun - it's basically a cross between Steam/Xfire Hamachi, and applications like Raptr.

It's a website and client (Vista/W7 only so far) that tracks your game stats, allows you to form 'parties' with friends and strangers, instantly creating a LAN between you, allowing for easy play on even those old games you have lying around.
It also combines MSN, AIM, Facebook Chat etc into the client, as well as an in-game browser built on the Chromium engine! It's currently in closed beta (with open beta launching soon), but you can get in:

Post here with your email address, and I, or other HoNers, will send you a beta invite.

As long as I have vent/skype I can get into contact with friends easily.
used raptr a bit before, made computer start up pretty slow compared with xfire.
this the same?

Well, I normally use Xfire and I've tried Raptr before (not my taste tbh). Read the description in the main post, it is like Xfire+Steam+Hamachi. They will have matchmaking feature coming up and for an early beta this looks very promising (the in-game overlay is really nice). It has some nice features over any other "gaming" IM, but currently there's no VOIP support.

Doesn't HoN do all of these things already?

Although it might be useful for games like Age of Empires, but only because people don't know how to port forward.

Well, it is not specifically for HoN and the same thing can be said about Steam/Xfire/Raptr etc.
