Dear fellow mapmakers, scripters, modders, ...
We all know HoN's big competitor League of Legends, that has quite similar gameplay to HoN.
Since they practically ported Chipper recently, I want to try to make a custom map port of LoL :D
Why ? Just because it's fun to make heroes with the K2 engine,
and because LoL has some great fun heroes as well,
it might be great fun to play them in a HoN custom map.
I'd like to see if we can create the mechanics used in LoL in the K2 engine ...
I'd like to dedicate this thread to ports of LoL heroes / mechanisms (like brushes) / whatever so if you got something, just post it here.
Please use [spoiler] tags around your code so it doesn't get messy.

This applies to whiny hate / fanboyism concerning LoL / HoN.

About copyrights : I have no intensions to steal anything, I'm considering this just as fan art :) (and as a challenge).
I'd like to know if we are allowed to use LoL's ability icons / sounds? (I doubt it)
But here it's more about the mechanics, and I don't think that's illegal.

Would be interesting, the only thing would be going into detail about the heroes you made.
That means I played LoL once so I really don't know how spells "should" work normaly.
After the next release of my custom map, I would take some time and take part in it =)

Yeah it won't feel the same, but I think this mod can be a great resource. It will show how to make energy bars (and heat bars, S2 promised to never implement this :) ) for custom maps.
I had an idea for the summoner spells. In LoL, every hero always has 4 active abilities (5xQ, 5xW, 5xE and 3xR), a passive (no stats like str, agi and int) and 2 summoner spells, you can choose at the start of the game. And at last but not least, a teleport to base (B). In this mod, I'd put the normal abilities in slot 0 - 3, the passive in slot 4 and the summoner spells in the extra slots 5 and 6. We might need a small UI mod to show them properly. Slot 7 will be teleport to base.
There are 12 summoner spells, I'd combine them all in one big "Ability_Summoner", and use modifiers to select the right one. We could make an item that you get at the start of the game, and it disappears after 15 seconds. It allows you to choose your summoner spells, clicking it sets different modifierkeys in Ability_Summoner.
Here are some ideas for the current summoner spells
Applystate: slowed, blinded (misses all attacks), lower magic resistance? for 3 seconds
Applystate: movespeed boost for 8 seconds
Sort of Token of Life with 9 minute cd, but you respawn at base
Targetscheme creeps and neutrals
Deals 500 damage + factor x hero level
Post Haste, granting immunity to the target unit you're porting to
Some purge alike spell, a bit like Electrician's ulti
Fortification + a passive when not on cooldown, granting bonus damage vs creeps
Ring of the Teacher
Unpurgeable pure DoT
A temporary gadget with some hp with aura granting bonus damage (and hp regen?)
Range : Global
Spawn a gadget with 6 sec lifetime, with clearvision (Pharaoh style)
Short Range Portal Key with long cd.
I just realise there's runes and masteries as well ... myeh I want to ignore that part a bit :D .. for now. Maybe some pre-game phase that lets you choose among a few bonus auras?

Runes and masteries are probably the worst part of league of legends, why would you port it?

Yeah I already said it ... runes and masteries ain't that cool. Better start with the hero concepts. Blitz will be the first, he's my fav.
And ismael .. this mod is not about popularity .. it's about designing, testing, comparing, learning ... and fun ofc. But I'll never polish it as much as the original...
It can be very handy extra resource for people who want to design their own heroes. That's my main goal.

Tried to reproduce Nasus some time ago
Syphoning Strike (Q) should work
Wither (W) works but without increasing attack speed slow (over it's duration), but with increasing movement speed slow
Spirit Fire (E) kinda works
Ultimate(R) not implemented yet
passive also not implemented
animations are just placeholders (especially the animation for his Q looks weird atm, E is just flints flare and W is d.shams entangle)

Everything in LoL is too OP. Just if you combine the hole OP stuff, it is balanced. Just like WoW Cataclism. You hit 5kkkk white dmg but the tank has 50kkkk HP+res.
The hole LoL thing is broken, dont try to fix it.
Only icefrog can :)

Mega Fun Idea ! Just need to rebalance them for HoN after raw recreation !
Mecanisms are rather identical in LoL and HoN ! So it will be very easy to recreate nearly all LoL Champions in HoN !

One thing you should probably decide before starting is how to reconcile the base differences in the game. Things like the lack of STR/AGI/INT are probably a big deal, especially if you need to adapt Mana as Energy and Rage/Heat. I would think that the two options for dealing with this are:
(Easy) Adapt LoL heroes to use the HoN style of scaling (essentially removing Energy/Rage/Heat). Give everyone STR/AGI/INT. Then modify abilities to scale off of main attribute or attack rating. Leave current HoN item set as is.
(Hard) Adapt HoN stats to fit LoL style of scaling. Repurpose base stats for use in new scaling (e.g. INT = AP). Reconfigure HoN items or port LoL items for use in new system.
Which do you think is the better option? Or do you know of any other solutions?

It was dead for quite some time yes :-)
The LoL champions are a good way to start coding in HoN, you will learn a lot.
But most of the coders work on different stuff now.
