I know that the community wanted something like this so I started working on it in my spare time. First came the script, which I developed with the help and feedback of friends. Next step came finding a female voice actor for the modification. Voice Actress Kira Buckland lent her talents to the project and was very easy to work with and did a great job with my picky requests [See her websites here (http://suzumiya-haruhi.net/) and here (http://kirabuckland.com/)] She does not wish for a commision from this project and only asks that if it is implemented in the game that she be credited for the work [mebbie in the item desciption or release].

Sorry :(, not a professional or anything so I am definitely up for some feedback, whether it be coding, direction, host help etc. I have no real experience with editing sound so any direction to make this project better I will take it into serious consideration. Fire hard as I know that's what the community is good at : 3 Take note that I do not have the resources or professionalism that S2 has when it comes to sound quality. Looking at making the modification gave me insight into just how much of a pain in the ass it is to get something right and kudos to them for their current announcers and character scripts!

Tested today and i think it's not that bad at all. Maybe for English user the voice is clear, but for the others i think the voice is not always easy to catch what the girl is saying. Still i really liked the voice and will use it ^^ Good Job and keep this way!

You need to disable any of your older announcer (I think you can do so in the vault in the shop) before being able to use this without overlap.

Not sure why you would be getting a .zip file. Right click the file, go to properties and rename it to a honmod if for some reason its getting saved as a .zip. It should open with the Hon mod manager no prob.

Ill be updating the main post within the week likely to add some information for anyone who is not experienced with using modifications.

In regards to the volume if I can get some more feedback I can easily increase it. I may remaster it at some point if an S2 member can provide me with the Reverb sound settings they use for announcers and let me know what software they use.

Overall a <insert complementary compliment verb here> mod.

However, it could certainly use a few improvements. It's not much feedback, as I can't say what you are technically
doing wrong, but it lies within the way your voice-actress performs. At some places, it has a minor 'crackling' sound,
due to how she puts the emphasis/tone (I'd guess?). It just makes it inconsistent with everything else - for example,
you have two "Oh", but one of them is not on par with the other. This does count for several occasions, where she
prolongs some of the vocals(aeiou).

On a personal preference, I think that the Immortal should be altered to something
more neutral. If I go on a 20-kill streak, it would quickly wear it (in my opinion, that is).

Oh yeah, and I didn't notice any script for Double Tap, Hat-trick, Quad Kill,
or Annihilation. Are they just not in the script, or didn't you get to change them?


Regardless, I find the majority of your script great, and it seems well-thought. Some nice subliminal puns, and double entendres ^_~

The crackling is actually coming from the crappy free program I used to mash all the clips together which I will definitely get around to fixing. The original sound files/the ones actually in the mod do not crackle at all. I will definitely have to redo the preview. What I notice personally in the preview the way its lined up most of the "mmm <script>" are all squished together when in reality they aren't too repetitive.

What I will do is try to line the preview up with the script instead of whats in the HoN folder. The Double-Tap, Triple Kill, Quad-Kill, Annihalation is just re-dubbed increasing in enthusiasm as the UT 2003 female announcer did. I could not think of a very tasteful scripting portion for that so I decided to pay homage to UT 2003. The kills leading up to IMMMORRTAALLL did not really have a number association as much so it was very easy to come up with a script for that. I redubbed alot of the original script I felt was unnecessary to change as it will lose some of the games flavor.

Speaking of, I get exactly what you mean by the IMMORRTALL "OH YEAA" script getting repetitive, but in reality there is such a small portion that get Immortal let alone super long streaks so that is something I likely won't change. If you are getting streaks that often anything will be repetitive : 3.

Download the new version and enjoy!I`ve downloaded the .honmod file from the first page, but ModManager still tells me it is version 1.0. Either you've forgot to change the version in the .xml file, or you didn't upload the new version at all.

What I have found is that for works like this, a voice is either going to click with what people enjoy or just not work. The aim of course is to please the majority which so far seems to have been done thankfully.

If you can please let me know what in particular you are looking for in terms of a voice actress for this project and supply me with a link. It would assist in me understanding what you find poor about the voice acting and will be valuable feedback for her as well. Constructive criticism is always appreciated.

I am really taken back by all of the positive feedback. It has been said a few times that I should make a suggestion thread with a poll to implement this modification. After some consideration I will do so when I get home and edit the main post. Make sure that your interface volume is higher than your other sounds/lower the other sound levels and you're all set!

I am assuming if it ever did get implemented that they would tweak the volume with their settings etc. That's why I kept all the original files and voice acting reel.

Ensure that you have no other s2Z type mods installed that modify sounds or Honmods that do the same and you should be all set. When in doubt wipe it out.

The alternative to using a HonMod is to use the S2z file that I have included and follow the instructions as I have noted in the main post.


To get the sounds inside the modification you can simply open it with the programs WinRAR or WinZIP.

Your best bet is to find an existing moonqueen sound mod and alter it with your own files. That's how I made this modification. If I am not mistaken there is a guide floating around the forum but at the current time I cannot commit to making another sound mod :(.

I am still alive. Sorry for not updating the mod in a while. Still planning on increasing the volume a bit and improving the quality.

Now I kind of get when modders say, HEY IM GONNA DO STUFF TO THIS!!!... then they go off and disappear. Life loves to kick you in the pee pee like that :3

Assuming you use Windows.

1) Open the following file: C:\Program Files\Heroes of Newerth\game\resources0.s2z
Windows has a standard file (de)compressor installed called "Winzip" use that.
[note the .s2z extension is just a renamed .zip file]

2) Open the folder "Heroes"
3) Here you see a list of heroname folders, open the one you want.
4) Go to the "Sounds" folder.
5) Voilá.

Alternatively in step 4, you can find the ability sounds by opening the "Ability_x" folder (where x is a number between 1 and 4) instead of "Sounds" folder.

When they archived the last suggestion thread and implemented a new suggestion format it kind of slowed me down in terms of motivation to start from scratch. Thanks to the new forums and new signatures I feel that I can make a new thread to suggest the mod and hopefully have it implemented.

You likely have another mod active or remnants of another mod installed. You just have to delete them from your game folder.

Thank you for the feedback :3 I essentially just tried to make it a bit more risque than Mrs. Puddings pack, but not over the top. Its tough to find that spot :X

You should ONLY be using one or the other, either the Honmod version or the S2z version. Using both could cause conflicts.

Ensure that all other mods that effect announcers are uninstalled or un-applied if you have used the Hon Mod Manager [if you use the Honmod version you need the program].

If you used the S2z file make sure you dont have other S2z files that effect announcers.

Then make sure you select the default announcer in the shop!

Your problems should be solved following these steps. If not you may be a frequent user of mods and may want to do a fresh install to identify mod conflicts.

Thats very strange, I do not know what would cause that. You can try to make sure you aren't running the Honmod as well. If someone knows what would cause this and my s2z mod is written wrong please let me know and I will address this immediately.

So yeah they put this awesome announcer pack in the game, but adds a FREAKIN ANNOYING KISS SOUND TO IT just to make sure its not entirely taken from Sell. Lame, just remove the kiss sound already.
