Strange Lag

In the last few days every game i have played has been plagued by intermittent horrible lag, No matter what graphics settings i use. The lag will start randomly during a game and lasts for roughly 3 to 5 minutes then it will fix itself for anywhere between 10 to 25 minutes approximately. My roommate plays on the same network i do( frequently in the same game) and he has not had any of the lag issues that i have. I do not have any mods at all and i have never had any issues with lag before i never experienced any until after the 2.0.22.1 patch. Is there something i can change on my computer that will repair whatever has happened?
