Every other day the playback driver setting is being reset to the (most of the time) default sound device which is my built in sound card. I have started to change the default device quite often (depending on if I want Spotify/the web browser to play in my headset or the speakers). I didn't do this before, and then I didn't have this problem so it seems to be related somehow. I have a really hard time to replicate the problem on command though.

It is just to switch back to the headset whenever it happens, but it is annoying nevertheless.

How exactly are you changing your default device? Do you ever unplug the other device (the one you want to use)?

I have Windows 7 and change the default device using the standard Sound playback device window (right click the sound icon in system tray - Playback devices).

I (almost) never unplug the headset. However, the headset is plugged into my monitor which have a built in USB hub. If the monitor is turned of explicitly (not stand by) all connected USB devices gets disconnected. I never turn it off though.

I also more or less never restart the computer, I only make it hibernate each night.

It will most likely change the device if you ever start the game and it can't find the device (ie. it's not plugged in), is there no chance this is what happened?

No, the headset is always plugged in.

It have been stable now for a while, but I will try to collect more information next time it happens.

I still have this same issue. I do not have to unplug the headset inbetween. The only thing I do soundwise is changing the default sound device (about 2-4 times a day).

Since it doesn't happen every time it feels like it is a combination of programs that make this happen. Could it be that another program "locks" the sound device from being used by HoN?
