I saw this hero, and his abilities look quite interesting. However I'm new to both dota and HoN, so I have a hard time keeping track of what items there is, and what items are good on what heroes etc.
Any tips on what to put on this hero (as well as skill build) Would be appreciated.

This is my personal opinion on how to play Hammerstorm.
Skill build wise, you should take Stats and Stun(Hammer) for the first 5 levels, then your Ultimate and continue on the Stun Stats route until around lvl 14-15 and then start picking up your cleave.
The reason for this is so that you have extra damage and health from the stats, and you will need more mana to be able to use your stun more than once in the first 10 levels. Also the Armor aura is possibly one of the worst skills in the game imo. You don't need to skill the cleave up early because its not as effective early as taking the stats. Then around the lvl 12-14 area when you start taking cleave last hitting isnt as important as early game so you can just cleave your way through creep waves.
Item build I like to get Steamboots, Elder Parasite and x2 Bracers early on. I then get Riftshards and upgrade it to a Flayer.
The reasons behind the item choices are as follows;
Steamboots = awesome for you in every way, attack speed, movespeed and some extra dmg/health from the strength version.
Bracers = Again more damage, health and some extra stats in int so you can run your mana using abilities (very minor but it helps)
Elder Parasite = This item is used mostly for the Frenzy effect it gives you, It will give you an insane amount of attack speed on use and the extra movement speed to catch up to people. This item and your ultimate should always be used together so that you can smack people into the ground at a fast rate and keep up with them.
Riftshard/Flayer = I like this because at lvl 16 with just Riftshards and a Parasite you can still crit with your ultimate on for about 500-600 which is quite huge at that stage of the game, later on when you have upgraded it to a flayer and perhaps have another damage item you can crit for over 1000 with your ultimate on. If you imagine that with cleave as well, you will be a wrecking bomb when all this fits together and is done correctly.
This is how I play Hammerstorm 9/10 because it usually works for me.
I don't see the point in getting the extra cleave btw as I dont think Hammerstorm needs to put the extra money into it over the other items.

Never thought about playing him like that, thanks.

Stun / Stats is the most typical build. He's really good at initiating if you go that route, and is a monster with his ult up. If you go the hero killer route BKB, er Shrunken Head in HON is pretty good on him. You can also try to do a farm build with cleave if you want.

Stun-Stats to 9, Super Strength to 11, Cleave to 15, Super Strength 16, Armor Aura 17-20, Stats to 25. Boosting stats gives him enough mana to never have his stun down assuming you don't spam it.
Start with two pretender crowns and two minor totems. Build two bracers and steamboots. Get Mask of Madness (Elder Parasite), then Armlet (Insanitarius).
At this point you go either heart, battlefury (runed axe), or bkb (shrunken head), and it really depends on where the game is going. BKB vs control heroes, heart if you're required to tank, battlefury if you're building dps carry.
