Alt+Tab very slow

Hello, i am using arch linux with an nvidia geforce 7600 GO the game plays nice, but when i alt+tab my computer becomes very slow. Opening the htop utility i saw that the game and the X got arround 48% CPU each.

When i return back to game all runs well again.

What could it be?

Hi, and thanks for the answer. I am not using any form of compositing on my desktop.
