In competitive play should Pestilence be played as DPS or as a Tank. The reason I put this thread in this section is because I'm not interested in pub stomping opinions. Discuss.

as always, depends on the situation.
sticking to one model (dps or tank) for every situation is setting yourself up for a failure
also, no initator role?

he is too awesome to be played as a tank, bash is very useful and -15 armour is just insane to the point of overpoweredness nevermind the sight it gives..

I prerfer to play him as a DPS but as was alredy stated sometimes you need to alter your build depending on how the game is going. There's nothing wrong with throwing some tanking items on him as he hits pretty hard with very few items.

Pesti with a shield breaker.

DPS and TANK aren't exactly roles. They're really vague, and instead I would only use terms like those as "attributes" for heroes.
Pestilence can do some melee physical DPS, yes.
Pestilence can't really take a lot of damage for a STR hero, so I wouldn't say he's a tank.
Pestilence has a movement speed buff and a stun, so I'd say he classifies more as a ganker than anything else.
Pestilence doesn't exactly scale that much, so I wouldn't call him a carry, although maybe you could say "subcarry".
Pestilence can initiate with Shrunken Head.

Hes a ganker/initiator and if he needs to be, carry.
