Honcast wants to keep their monopoly. It doesn't really matter tbh; Having some whiny kid cast vs some fat 25 year old that has 0 competitive insight, both equally bad. But Zaku>Breaky+henryD. The stream is better when you turn the sound off when HenryD casts. He hasn't been on the competitive scene in months, and when he was, he played ***** role glacius and fed, but i guess that gives him jurisdiction to call other players terrible when he casts.

Why would anyone boycott Honcast. I understand if some people want to choose to watch a different stream but that is not boycotting. I don't live in Denmark but that doesn't mean that I'm boycotting Denmark, I just don't choose to live there.
Honcast and the others are all fine.

Well, if you actively visit Denmark, then decide to boycott Denmark, and you never visit again.. that's a boycott..
If he actively visits HoNcast, and decides to no longer do that, he is boycotting HoNcast. (As HoNcast and Denmark both lose revenue from you not visiting the site/country)

Do I think what they are trying to do with their monopoly is a dick move? Yes.

What I love is S2 gives honcast money to do tournaments then honcast gets butthurt when other people cast them. S2 shouldn't support the monopolization of casting. All breaky had going for him is a slightly better than average mic. I really don't need updates on how flint can outrange a rax.

It is a tournament run by Honcast, they should be the only ones streaming it live. Any tournament run by a casting site would do the same, GameReplays did exactly the same when they held their tournament. It is not monopolization at all.
There are many problems with Honcast but this isn't one of them.

s2 gives honcast money
honcast runs tournament with shitty casting and doesn't let anyone else cast
honcast has a monopoly on casting tournament
What is so hard to understand? He is preventing other casters from entering the market and acting as the sole provider (DERP DEPR MONOPOLY)
If S2 takes money from sales they should run tournaments open to all casters not let breakycpk whore it out for his shitty filereplay site.
Pretty much a very small portion of what we all paid for HON is going to breakycpks tournament and then when other people want to cast he goes ape ****. Cool story. Good use of my money S2. I didn't want a map editor or any of that other **** you promised. I wanted to watch some 1500apem kid tell me about how flint can outrange a melee rax.

You are paying for the game, the notion that you deserve to have some say in what S2 does with your money is completely ridiculous.
Regardless of who the tournament sponsors are, it is a Honcast run tournament and they should be the primary casters of said tournament.

So if I organize a football tournament with my friends, and decide nobody else can cast it but me, will I be monopolizing football?
Why don't you organize your own tournament and show the world how it's done? That's right, because it takes work, work you're not interested in doing.

The point is s2 is paying for the tournament not honcast. If honcast wants to pay for the tournament I don't care who they let cast. But if S2 is going to throw money away on this **** they should at least let everyone else cast.
Also you example sucks here is a real one.
S2 pays for a tournament, then gives 1 person the exclusive rights to casting the entire tournament; that person now has a monopoly (SOLE PROVIDER) on casting that tournament.

honcast need more decent casters, Breaky as main caster is good, but he should ALWAYS have a co-caster from real competitive scene, I remember few casts were actually good, when Twista from unZ i think was casting with him, otherwise breaky's doing too much wrong predictions/comments, but if you know the game, then you understand what really happen/will happen anyway and just laugh at clueless breaky?

No, you don't have a monopoly on football. But you could say you have a monopoly on all video recordings from the tournament, and it would be fair enough.
Monopoly doesnt necessarily mean something is bad. But it means, that when a monopol abuses his position, the consequences are worse, than if there's some competition.
Regardless of who the tournament sponsors are, it is a Honcast run tournament and they should be the primary casters of said tournament. Well, but primary doesn't mean "the only". When you make it "the only casters", it means they are a monopoly. Legally, they don't own the copyright for the game replays (as far as I am aware), so the whole issue is on a very frugal level.
Edit: IANAL etcetera.

Yep, and so we had good games from each tournament not get cast or get delayed significantly, while casters sat by wanting to give people good games.
That is pretty much the definition of inefficiency and both of them do it. And yes, it is entirely a monopolization: by refusing to allow competition of that specific service they have monopolized that tournament.

GR didn't allow anyone to livecast their tournaments either, I wonder where all these crying retards were back then?
Go host your own tournament, then you can choose who gets to livecast it. I find it hilarious that people are actually crying and thinking that anyone actually cares about their "boycotts" or what they think about how ANY tournament organizer decides to run their tourney.
I am sure honcast will listen to constructive criticism, but people going emo over Honcast doing a business move that not only has been done by other organization(s) too on HoN, but what also happens daily in other busineses.

S2 paid the prize pool. Does s2 pay honcast to run the tournament? no.
Oh and to address the monopoly claim. It would only be a monopoly if honcast didn't allow anyone to cast the games, period. Anyone can cast the games after they happen, just not live. It's not a new concept. Haven't found a casting organization yet that didn't claim exclusivity for live matches. It happens all the time in the real world too - NFL, NBA, etc, etc, etc. The coverage network gets exclusive rights to the content. Now sometimes they work out deals to allow other networks to cover the content ( in other languages, physical locations, etc ) - which is much less of an issue with internet organizations since anyone with a connection can tune in. It's not like network TV where one part of a country, or a different country might not have that network.

It didn't explicitly state anything about not being allowed to cast games, it only said that spectators had to be official HCT members.

Which will be revised in future posts. It's vague admittedly, it was the intent of the rule though. Don't know why we are still talking about this since its a settled matter now - but in the end if a tournament admin tells you not to do something and you keep doing it.....

You're acting as if HoNCast gave permission for other people to cast the matches later. Granted, they don't need it, but I don't think most people would have done so without that permission, which I'm pretty sure wasn't given. S2 paid the prize pool, marketed and advertised the tournament, and it wouldn't even surprise me if they were paying HoNCast staff's salary. Running tournaments is really pretty easy, the hardest part is getting people to play and throwing money at that problem is one of the few times it works.

Honcast has never forbidden people from casting replays, they can't. I believe GR has casted replays of HCT matches in the past and yes breaky, myself, etc has mentioned multiple times ( forum, irc and over stream ) that replays are fair game.
And what part of S2 doesn't pay honcast is so hard to grasp? lol. Its been said multiple times as well. Honcast generates its revenue from ads.

Honcast entertaining value is the best. And if you've eyes open you don't need competitive insight, just a quality coverage of action is enough. So on topic: no boycott, the more casts the better for everybody.

Yawn.. I forgot i'm talking to forum people who know all.
Honcast is not paid by S2, period. Regardless if honcast has a tournament or not, they'll still be casting, people will still be visiting the site. So S2 giving a prize pool to play in a tourney doesn't increase honcasts cash flow. So once again, S2 does not pay Honcast. But we can twist this logic around - so what if people who catch honcast might not actually play hon -then decide to buy hon. Does that mean honcast is paying s2?
