So, there you go - I wonder what exactly the items/skills in the game might be that are able to hit/affect an invisible hero - obviously not targeted skills but the whole idea for this question came about when I realized that Mock of Brilliance killed some stupid Scout lurking around (well, aura effect - quite obvious really). I don't really have problems with invisible heroes since I ward the crap out of lanes my team is going to fight in but would be glad if I knew whether I am wasting my mana or not by trying to cast something to kill an escaping invisible hero.

I will edit this post as suggestions roll in OR if nobody has any suggestions I'll just spend the time to fire up Practice mode and find out for myself. ^^

Results of my tests:

yes: this skill affects an invisible hero in AoE range
partial: this skill affects an invisible hero but needs you to choose another target first
* - reveals invisible units

All AoE effects hit invisible units unless the effect results in individual targetting.

ie. Slither's Ultimate releases in a radius and will hit everything while Moonqueen and Swiftblade ults randomly target enemies within a certain aoe radius (and thus cannot target invisible units and will not hit them).

Valkyrie's Call used to hit invisibility units but since it's single target aoe ability it really shouldn't so they corrected it.

Pretty sure that Arachna's Spider Sting also keeps them shown whilst it is attacking edit: sorry just re read and seen that you said non targeting abilities.

So - one question would be - does Defiler's Wave of Death hit invisible units when it's cast in their general direction?
Are you sure that Swifti's Ulti will hit an invisible unit if it's within the random AoE range? I'll have to test this. :-D

And yeah, Arachna's Spider Sting doesn't count since it needs to be targeted initially.

Yes, Defiler's wave of death (and pyro's similar spell) will hit invisible units.
I think he said moonqueen and swiftblades ults do NOT hit invisible units.

I'm pretty sure directional line stuns also hit them like Magmus's Surge and Behemoth's Fissure.

I conducted tests with ALL heroes now and I must say the results are quite shocking, since many things seem to be bugged. I'll post everything soon. E.g. Valkyries Call of the Valkyrie STILL targets invisible units and so do other skills that shouldn't do this (Moon Beam, Swift Slashes etc.).

Call of the Valkyrie doesn't hit invis, chances are that it's practice mode that's the problem. If the invis unit being hit was your main hero or allied to your side, it doesn't register as invis to any other units you control, allied or not. I just tested it with a non-allied invis and it didn't hit them.

e: actually, you're right, never mind. It doesn't play the animation but the damage still occurs, i didn't even notice it.

I spawned a non-allied Scout on the Hellbourne side and Call of the Valkyrie hit him. I had no sight of the unit, I just confirmed the hit by picking up a Bound Eye that I had lying next to me all throughout the tests. I wonder if it is indeed practice mode that is to blame because the hero location data is stored locally instead of being filtered through a server.
I'll conduct further tests online.

Yeah! Exactly! That's what happens with ALL the skills that aren't supposed to target invisible heroes - the animations glitch out but the damage still occurs! It's even like that for Chain Lightning and Acid Cocktail and so forth...

Nah - I just confirmed that this glitch doesn't occur online. However, Chuck and Guttling Hook are still working as described. I'll check out other controversial skills.

As for acid cocktail, voodoo targeted one of my heroes with the skill, i ran and used assassin's shroud, it missed.
