In general should Tempest stick to jungling for his means of experience / items? What start up load out in items should he have, and what level can he start effectively doing it?
Normally I pair myself up with my brother as magmus with the following skill distribution
1.glacial blast
2.meteor
3.glacial blast
4.meteor
5.glacial blast
6.ultimate
etc
Im assuming for jungling I would max elementals as soon as possible. Also how would I help ensure survivability when jungling when the opposing team has stealth based characters, are wards in key spots enough in this case?
Thanks
You should really pick atleast 1 level of elementals even if you are laning to deny a creep before they even get near your enemy = 0 exp for the enemy, and then later use your elementals to ensure the last hits on your own creeps. Makes the opposing teams life hell leveling on your lane ^^

Depends entirely on the ability of the other "solo". In serious games, yes he should always solo. For pubs where you cannot trust the other players to hold a lane alone, you may not want to go for it.
And Tempest jungles at level 1. There are guides for jungling with him, look them up.

I assume solo here is referring to Tempest jungling and not Tempest soloing a lane given the nature of this thread.
And thanks I will look for a guide. I suppose it will be found here in the guides section of the forums.

Basic tempest jungling loadout is just mana regeneration + hp regeneration (sometimes you have to tank a little for your elementals)
Advanced tempest jungling includes details about creep pulling, stacking, etc.
skillset is usually
elemental
blast
elemental
blast
blast
ult
blast
You really only need 2 levels of elementals early especially since they only split once now, you won't dramatically improve your jungling speed with levels 3 and 4, you'll still have to clear 2 camps at a time. Once you get your ult you should gank the side lane with it and your blast.

Tank a little for your elementals? since when?
I just put the wounded one behind the full hp 1, by then they will split and its $$.
I never take a hit, mostly because im using a Manapot at the time.

I tend to anyways whenever I need to stack I tend to need to tank until my elementals multiply since I use one of them to go stack the next camp.

i'm a noob to tempest.. like completely horribly at micro managing my eles. Like 4 games using tempest.
BUT
i find i'm able to overrun the lane early with my eles. In most attempts I can harrass or even kill the enemies within the first few minutes. Thus making an each tower push using eles to tank.
I did a different build putting glacial blast first but after playing like that for a couple matches I realized maxing eles was easy win early game.
But this is coming from a noob... probably doesn't work so well above 1600.

He's best in the jungle imo, especially if you can pick some other decent solos.

You should jungle when you have the mana for elementals and the person laning in the closest lane doesn't seem to need your help. It's really as simple as that. When you think your laner might be in danger, or is being harassed too much, you can take a break from jungling to help out. Your level 2 stun is enough to stifle most harassment and elementals are good for denying and pressuring people to stay away.
Use your best judgement. Just know that effective jungling is the best way to get the greater amount of money for yourself in the beginning, and will give your lane parter a larger share of experience. Usually it's pretty safe as well, it just puts more pressure on whoever has to solo the lane you're not in.

Jungling as Tempest is ALWAYS better than laning with somebody.
If you're laning as Tempest, you're slowing down that lane's ability to level up (it would be solo if you weren't there), and you're also splitting creep gold.
Your skill build should be something like:
Elemental
Glacial Blasts
Elemental
Glacial Blasts
Elemental/Glacial Blasts
Elemental Void
Etc.
By jungling, you should be able to farm your Portal Key within 5-7 minutes, not joking. Right around the time you get enough money for your Key, you should also be level 6. This mean you can gank any lane you want once you return to base. If you're particularly worried about the extra solo dying, you can occasionally go over to try and gank the lane he's in.
Your ability to farm quickly in the jungle is highly dependent on your ability to keep your mana pool high so that you can use Elemental whenever you want/can.
Your starting items should be:
8 x Mana Potions
1 x Ward of Sight
Ward the river closest to your jungle. Not only is this good for your mid solo for rune spotting, but it allows to you to see whether or not the enemy mid solo is going to gank you. Keep your eye on your own lane (you're not really laning there, but you know what I mean) and make sure that they don't try to catch you off guard.

Tempest is very easy to gank in the jungle though, so keep that in mind.

Just in general how do you go about jungling? Ive look at some guides but im somewhat lost. It seems at very low levels (1-3) tempest can only effectively farm the yellow dot minimap low level creeps. Are you supposed to just move from one yellow dot mini map creep spawn to the next until you are high enough to get orange?

So, at first, there aren't many creep camps that you can effectively farm. The first camp you farm should be the EASIEST one possible; in other words, the one where those dudes that go "You're fired!", and "Now I need somebody to do my sewing." They might not be there; it could be the other creeps, but the point is: FARM THAT CAMP! What's important to remember is if one of your elementals is dying, you should pull it away so that it survives to split into two.
Once you're done with that camp, you should be almost level one with 6 Elementals. Take your units and go to the closest camp; it should be down and to the left no matter which side you're playing for. Hopefully you'll get something like the wolves or the ogres, but if you don't, tough luck. Kill as much as you can, always starting with the strongest creep. If you can't finish off the entire camp, back off and leave the rest for another fight. You should be level 2 after the second camp. Try and find another camp that will be relatively easy to beat (again, the wolves or the ogres); you want to avoid fighting the vultures, the minotaurs, and especially the catmen. If you can't find an easy camp, tough luck; just do your best. Always remember to save your elementals if they are dying. Also, always convert the strongest creep possible into elementals; that is, if you're attacking the wolf pack, convert the commander into elementals. If you're fighting ogres, convert one of the brown ones to elementals (the blue one is considerably weaker).
Once you get your Elemental skill to level 2, jungling should be a breeze. Use Mana Potions whenever necessary, and you'll be set. I usually like to use them while in battle so that I have mana ready to use Elemental as soon as possible. Just don't forget to avoid getting hit by creeps.
