View Full Version : [SOLVED] Update from 22.214.171.124 --> 126.96.36.199 Crashes at the white bar
02-08-2011, 04:15 AM
When I try to dowload the new patch 2/3 of the times It crashes and I get a K2 Exception notice right after it loaded 5% of the white bar.
I read that Daert had the exact same problem.
Now I've had this problem since August last summer and it's really starting to annoy me that I payed for this game when it just crashes.
I've read all the forum threads about puting logs up etc. But I admit that I'm no genious when it comes to computers. I've always played in windowed mode since my laptop can't take the full screen resolution.
I know I haven't given you any usefull information, but since this seems to be something many people is experiencing, isn't there a permanent fix to this kind of things?
I hope this is the console log:
S2 Games is aware of the update issues and looking into it.
For now, you have to download the latest client and install it manually. If the latest client hasn't been uploaded so far, you have to download an old client ( http://www.gamershell.com/download_49590.shtml ) and update it.
If you are using XFire make sure to quit any instance of it before trying to update.
1599 Client System Details:
1600 OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 5.1.2600
1601 Processor: Intel Pentium II-processor (2127 MHz)
1602 Video: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family(384.00 MB)
1603 RAM: 1.99 GB
Holy crap what processor do you use?

Thank you for looking into this issue and for the help.
Holy crap what processor do you use?[/QUOTE]
I am currently using my school laptop to play with, but it's only temporary till I find a good new stationary computer. ;)
Seriously, what processor is this? xD
btw if you run into the "Bad data" issue while logging in, read this: http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showpost.php?p=13033427&postcount=2

First of all, thank you for taking your time, helping me. Now to the problem:
Yes I did run into the "Bad data" text and I read your: http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showpost.php?p=13033427&postcount=2
Which tells me to go to:
I followed the instructions, but I did not find the [...hon masterservers...] so I tried the other thing, to open the console inside the old version of HoN by pressing (ctrl+f8) and enter "SetSave net_disableSSL false" and hit enter.
This didnt work either, I still get the "Bad data" so I can't update.
Further suggestions of how to make this game work will be appreciated !
As I said in my first post I've had this patching problem since last summer. Sometimes when I can't patch I just wait and after a couple of hours it works. Sometimes I have to remove all HoN content and download the client, install etc. all over again to make it work. How is that possible?
Sometimes there is a corrupt file on one of the nodes which causes problems. Sometimes...but it seems there are other problems too.
I guess the updater is bugged or not correctly working in combination with some systems (due to permissions or whatever) or networks (due to firewall, antivirus, nat, whatever).

Okey so what do I do, just wait for the 188.8.131.52 HoN Client to be available? Do you know when it will be released?
Btw thank you Bash for helping, I appreciate it. Just read a few posts with similar problems and some people are rude so I just wanted to show my gratitude.
Thanks! Your gratitude is highly appreciated. ;)
Sorry, I don't know when it will be released, but I asked for an update in the internal forums.

Hey BASH, I found the problem on a post on this link: http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=218323
Xeox has a link to the 184.108.40.206 Client.
Nice! Thanks for sharing, I will inform the others. ;)
