How do you survive and not get focused to death when playing her?

build her up as tanky as you can so that whenever they take all the time to kill you, your carry is raping everyone else. Or i just go cyclone and get immunity for abit.

600 range, Wave is longer, ulti targets randoms from far--even without a right-click target, move speed+, and 6s silence.

let other people get focused, shoot in some waves and wait until all CC is done, go in and clean.
once you got quite tanky you can go in and lure all CC on yourself, so the maincarry can do his work without trouble, in case you got another hardcarry in your team.

Or if you play her like SkyneT get a wingbow and void.

build her as a tank. whenever I mid with her I usually rush chalice bottle for the farm. treads if u need moar hp/plated greaves if ur up against a high physical dmg team / ghost marchers if u want that extra speed boost. Most people usually build hotbl on her but I opt to go shrunken head if up against a heavy CC team. just go hotbl shamans headdress ( or 400g magic armor good enuf) shrunken **** like that. yaddadameen?

Stay behind the rest of your team, besides this, you should obviously get tanky stuff.

I usually go with the hotbl/headdress deal, I'm not sure how sac stone compares to this in terms of survivability?

StormSpirit does wonders in some cases. other than that build her tanky and stay in range early-mid game.

The key is landing good silences. Team up with a good "ganking" initiator - :bubb: :pest: :hamm: :pebb: :mora: etc. - yell at them to blink in and land a nice AoE stun; follow up with your insane AoE silence; and then you'll be the one doing the focusing and killing instead of the other way around.

Sac Stone gives a scaling Mana/HP gain/regen; the more kills you are around, the stronger you become.

The problem with HOTBL/Astrolable is that you don't really have the mana for much by doing this. Defiler needs a decent mana-pool in order to spam her Nukes/Silences/Ult; she's nothing without her spam. Getting those items offers nothing in terms of sustaining your mana-pool.

Defiler should probably rush either a Nullstone or a Sac-Stone as her main tankability item (which HOTBL can help build, so that's not a bad item to start with). She should also have some sort of burst regen (Bottle/Chalice/Power Supply... I usually like to build all 3 if my farm is good early on) before any of this.

Listen very carefully.

First item: Chalice (Under 5 minutes)

Second item (optional/situational): Bracer (Under 10 minutes)

Third item: Ghost Marchers (Under 15 minutes)

Fourth item: Sustainer (Under 20 minutes)

Fifth item: Sac stone. (Under 30 minutes)

This build is viable for 90% of defiler games. Its hard to mess up if you're doing it this way. YES you can get Hotbl YES you can headdresses but thats not how you tank as defiler. Her STR and INT are totally great and you want to do it by the numbers, not mitigation. In team fights, you need spam-click and wave the carries as quick as you can as fast as you can. You can take down an armored pred in seconds. You can analize a spinning SB. You can garrote a shrunken'd soulstealer faster than he can kill you. If you aren't pushing, YOU NEED TO BE ATTACKING THEIR CARRIES AND MAKING SURE YOUR SPIRITS ARE EATING THEM UP. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF PLAYING DEFILER. Also: POSITIONING, POSITIONING, POSITIONING BE CAREFUL TO NOT MOVE INTO THE THICK OF IT WHILE YOU ARE SPAM-CLICKING YOUR TARGET. KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE. CAPS.

I'm a bit strange when it comes to Defiler I suppose. I build her the following way, having middle:
1st, bottle.
2nd, Red Boots.
3rd, Icon of the Godess. ( Vitality Booster + Glowstone first )
4th, Ghost Marchers.
5th Finish SacStone.
From here on, the items become slightly situational. However, with an Armor setup I managed to outcarry a decently farmed Predator on a ~450 gpm'd Defiler.
