After a while in a game, practice or 'live' things starts lagging and acting all slowmotion. FPS drops to like 2,5/3. No issues before the patch, right after I installed it and was gonna take a look at empath, things started going crazy.

I reinstalled HoN, I did a systemrecovery, reinstalled patch etc... etc..

Please post the information below and try the possible solutions mentioned at the end.

What you were doing
Please include when this error occurred, and what you were doing at that time. (A screenshot would be helpful)

Hardware
Please include, your RAM, Graphics Card, CPU, and CPU/GPU Temperatures. For any other issues, post the details on the hardware giving you trouble.

(To find most of this info, Start > Run > dxdiag)

Version
Please state what version of Windows you are running, including 32 or 64 bit.

Settings
Please post a screenshot of your video settings in HoN (only necessary if you have graphical issues or crashes).

Console.log
The K2 engine keeps a log of the console. This is often very helpful in identifying your problem. Look under the following directory for your console.log :
For Windows XP -C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\My Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game\.
For Windows Vista/7 - C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game\
Please upload (http://tools.heroesofnewerth.com/upload.php) your console.log and post the url.

Possible Solutions (in the given order!)
1. Update your video drivers (nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us)/ ATI (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx)/ Intel (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx))
2. Update DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3)
3. Remove Heroes of Newerth completely (this step includes deleting the HoN-folder under Documents!)
4. Download the latest client and install it again.
5. If the framrate issues still occur, try to lower your graphics settings and disable effects like Reflections, Post Processing and so on.
6. Switch to openGL mode (edit HoN shortcut and add "-vid vid_gl2" to the end)

It does seem like I have found the key of the issue.

I know I tried before to play in Window mode, this caused ALOT of lag for me. And Ive tried to alt-tab out of HoN. This does not work, its like its played in window mode, but really isnt. I tried to reset the settings, again I reinstalled hon.

No known issue of this?

Did you try manually removing all the game files (the ones in Program Files and the ones in Documents and Settings) and installing the game again?

Also, please try changing the "Exclusive mode" option, either to on or off, depending on what it is at now.

Exclusive mode is currently off, changed settings. Tried reseting and soforth. I also noticed my HoN takes up 1,000,000 KB memory when its running.

And yes I did remove the files.

First I reinstalled > Uninstalled, deleted everything in the HoN map and installed again. Still this issues remains.

I need to see your console.log.

I cannot upload to the given link above due to my Console.log is logged as a textdocument and I cant change it to .log for some reason.

Anyway, here it is http://www.speedyshare.com/files/26732979/console.rar

I noticed that, after a reinstall it kind of fixes. I can tab out normally, HoN only takes up 200-300k kb memory - however after a few hours of playing, clickiticlack - 1,200,000-1,500,000 memory and major lag.

What's your CPU usage like in game?

What's your total ram usage when lagging?

What's your total ram usage when your system is idle (not running HoN)?

1 75%

2 1,85gb.

3 990~/2045

It feels like this is the core issue... any idea how to fix/work around it?

Well, the reason HoN uses so much ram is so it doesn't have to re-fetch files from disk. When you use more than the total physical memory, you start using the hard drive for ram. In the end, it doesn't matter if HoN or Windows is doing the thrashing as the reasons are interconnected. The only things you can do are to reduce your texture quality, see if you can close enough background programs/services, or upgrade your ram (ram is cheap).

Thing is, I got no background programs open and lowest quality possible. Things doesnt matter anyhow, yesterday my CPU crashed, its burned out. So I guess it was guilty of causing me these problems, due to sometimes I could play lag-free sometimes I could not - probably from overheating or any.. other.. faulty work. You may remove/lock the thread. I appreciate the help very much.
