View Full Version : 2v2 / 3v3 / 5v5 Arena Map (PvP Only)

There's been an idea floating around in my head for a while now. A map that takes the PvE out of HoN and introduces a map strictly made for PvP. Sort of a WoW arena style map, where each team starts at a specific point and the goal is obviously to kill the other team.

My ideas:

2v2 / 3v3/ 5v5



Best of 3 series, first series each player is level 6, second series 16, and the final series level 25.



Each series will have a different tier or set amount of gold available for a hero to purchase.


I have no experience with scripting/coding and no experience with map-editing. My question is, is it even reasonable/logical for me to try to create this, and is it even possible?


p.s. I'm not Brazilian and I don't smoke pot

Well for a first time project, you will have a bit of a hard time to script something like this but I'm pretty sure it would be doable.

For scripting you can start of by reading this thread (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=23946).

You will need a lot of time to get started, since you will need to learn how scripting work if you haven't done it before. you can look at the original heroes scripts and the tutorial scripts to learn what you can do and how to actually write it.

You can look at other custom maps too to learn a bit more. The forum is a great resource if you need help.
There is also the IRC channel #honlabs on the official S2 IRC server that you can go to ask for help.

The thing is that most people here create custom spells, but in your case you will need to create a arena "system" with scripts. So you might have a bit of trouble finding already existing scripts for what you want.

it doesn't sound bad, but i rather play bloodline champions then a hon pvp arena where you still have autoattacking and probably skills that can't miss or random crit/dodge chances or other stuff.

My thoughts exactly.

I mean anyone would rather play a welll polished f2p game then this but i might be wrong.

You could make a WoW arena that was hella fun map and popular too. I still play it with my friends on LAN sometimes we usually roll 3v3 :)
