I'm not sure if this is a graphic problem or not. I posted in OT to see if anyone could help me there. But I'll post here as well.

Ok, so last... wednesday a weird thing started happening to my computer. When playing HoN, after the hero picks and once the game is actually started, some weird things start happening. They don't always happen, but sometimes they do.

First I get this weird "blinky" lag. Every 5-10 seconds or so the action freezes until the computer turns black for a second, and then I can see stuff again.

If I move the mouse to the side of the screen to scroll during the freeze, after the "blink" I end up where I was scrolling to. I can also order my hero around... sometimes and he does it through the freeze.

Other times he starts running back to base due to D/C protection.

It gets worse and worse as I continue trying to play, and things get chunky and it becomes impossible to play.

I try restarting HoN, and that doesn't do anything. It just keeps with the weird blinking.

Now here's where we get to the REALLY weird stuff that happens.

One time, I was playing and I was on Legion, and I could ONLY see the legion side of the map. If I went across the river to the hellbourne side, everything would slow down and turn black the farther I scrolled into the hellbourne side, and I couldn't do anything til I went back to the legion side.

Shortly after this I got a blue screen infinite loop memory dump screen. Something about my nvidia card.

Searching this out, I found I needed to update my drivers. So I did.

I tried playing! Success a game complete! Ha ha! Another game complete! And then... BAM. Same problem started happening again.

So I scanned my computer for viruses, boot time scan. Found a few, got rid of them. Attempted to play again.

Success! A full game! A good one too!

But next time I played the problem was back, the viruses were not though. I thought it might have had something to do with a new mod I got. So I disabled all my mods, deleted them, and then re-installed HoN.

Hooray! It worked. For a game.

The most frustrating part is that it doesn't start until after a game has already started, so I have no way of testing it. And it isn't always either, so i could run in practice mode (for hours even) and it might not happen, making me think it is fixed until the next time I try to join a game.

Another interesting fact, once it starts, even when I close down HoN, it continues. With only windows up (I'm running windows xp sp2) it continues to lag and blink every few seconds or so. Which I thought was very odd.

My friend said he updated some other things related to the graphics card, and he thought that would fix it.

Alas, it did not. The lag still occurred, but with a new twist, now it would loop things that people said in voice chat while it was lagging out, which I thought odd considering I thought it was a graphic related problem. It eventually got all chunky until I ctrl alt delete end tasked it. I tried rejoining the game, but when HoN came up it was already lagging and I couldn't even click the reconnect to game button.

And once everything turned into rainbows. A big block of rainbows with no texture.

I really don't know what else to try. I'm gonna take my box apart today and see what I can do in there, give it a good cleaning, make sure the cards are in tight, stuff like that.

And this problem ONLY occurs while playing HoN. I can play other games fine. I'm not sure why.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm gonna try and take a video of it with my phone next time it happens and post it on youtube.

I will keep people updated.

Console.log
The K2 engine keeps a log of the console. This is often very helpful in identifying your problem. Look under the following directory for your console.log :
For Windows XP -C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\My Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game\.
For Windows Vista/7 - C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Heroes of Newerth\game\
Please upload (http://tools.heroesofnewerth.com/upload.php) your console.log and post the url.

Possible Solutions (in the given order!)
1. Update your video drivers (nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us)/ ATI (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx)/ Intel (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx)) - in some cases rolling back to an older version in necessary (e.g. nVidia 310/325/330 and latest driver, 206.99, don't work)
2. Update DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3)
3. Remove Heroes of Newerth completely (this steps includes deleting the HoN-folder under Documents!)
4. Download the latest client and install it again.
5. If the crashes and framrate issues still occur, try to lower your graphics settings and disable effects like Reflections, Post Processing and so on.

Yeah, I was in the middle of posting those things for my second post, but when I loaded up HoN the problem started even worse and now my computer screen stays blank when windows starts booting up. EDIT: Currently running it in safe mode.

I'll try to post what I can remember. Also from your solutions it is clear that you did not even read the post.

System Information
Everything worked fine until last wednesday. My computer normally runs fine.

Hardware
2 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS (I think),Intel Core2 Duo 6600 @ 2.40GHz , and CPU/GPU Temperatures Dunno where to find tempertatures.

Version
Windows XP Professional SP 2

If I didn't you would have gotten a more generic response, so stop assuming things.
1. You didn't tell me what driver version you have had previously installed and which you updated to.
2. You didn't tell me you have updated DirectX (just some stuff "related to the gpu")
3. You didn't tell me you have deleted both folders before installing again (you just said you have deleted the mods).
4. You didn't tell me you have redownloaded the client before reinstalling.
5. You didn't tell me you have lowered your video settings.
6. You didn't tell me you tried those fixes (I know they normally should help against crashes, not fps/driver problems, but they might)

Also actually reading my post would help too.

I asked if you are running Windows in 32 or 64 bit and I linked a place where to upload the console.log (this way no one can abuse the information in there and supporters can easily filter things).

You can measure the temperatures by using e.g. Speedfan.
http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

Be sure to check them while you have played approximately ten minutes HoN and are still ingame.

Sorry, I was a bit cranky since I had a big long post that I was writing with most of those things in it, and then my computer crashed hard when trying to load HoN, and I lost it all and had to get most of it from memory.

My computer is not running at all well anymore. It blackscreens upon startup unless I'm in safemode.

Sorry I was unlcear about my mode of windows, it is 32 bit.

I don't know how to find my previous drivers, but I can tell you the ones I updated to.

I did not update DirectX lately.

I did re-download the client before installing, but I did not delete both folders... But now I can't run it anyway.

I did not have lowered video settings.

I can't run anything anymore, but last I checked my speedfan my CPU temp was between 40-50 C. No GPU temp was recorded.

My updated drivers are "266.58_desktop_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe"

I uploaded my console log via the link you provided.

I currently have the latest version of DirectX.

Here are my current settings.

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9369/honsettings.png

I tried running HoN for ten minutes on the lowest graphic settings to test temp, but after about 6 mnutes the game locked up and turned funny colours, sounds started looping and I could not alt-tab or ctrl alt delete to end task. Upon restarting my computer, there are still weird colours left on my screen. The same thing that happened earlier today, and took hours of leaving my computer off to fix. During the lock up while in HoN the mouse could still move around, but nothing was working, and this was on the lowest graphic settings.

EDIT: I almost forgot, the last I was able to check (around 5 minutes playtime) the core temp and GPU temp were both around 67C.

It really seems like one of your hardware parts is broken. Most likely the video card (second guess would be CPU or mainboard).

Can you try another card? If possible, borrow one from a friend.

I will see if that is possible. I was kinda worried it was something like that. Any ideas as to how to identify which hardware piece is dying? I'd hate to buy the wrong new thing...

You can only change different parts to identify the broken one.

At least changing the video card is fairly easy and takes just a few minutes.
