Well as the topic name says, my game keep crashing after the 2.0.8.1 patch.
It happens at the first load (blue bar) when it reaches around 60-80% loading.
When loading finishes it usually crashes after hero selection screen or when game is about to start.
Things i´ve tried:
- Reinstalled HoN. Fresh new copy.
- Tried the open GL.
- Tried the affinity/setting one core on my CPU.
- Already playing game with everything low and disabled.
I dont know what´s happening. Game was running perfectly fine on previous patch.
I´ve got a 2.2ghz Dual Core proc
- GeFOrce 8600 GT - 512 megs.
- 1 giga Ram.
I am clueless guys.
Thanks in advance.
Console log, down below. And i´ve saved 2 crashes reports. They are in "dmp" format. If u guys need those, just lemme know.

Can you please upload (http://tools.heroesofnewerth.com/upload.php) the crash dumps and temperatures of your CPU and video card?
I assume you are using Windows XP (SP2? 32 or 64bit), according to your log at least.
Possible Solutions (in the given order!)
1. Update your video drivers (nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us)/ ATI (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx)/ Intel (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx))
2. Update DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3)
3. Remove Heroes of Newerth completely (this step includes deleting the HoN-folder under Documents!), download the latest client and install it again (just in case you didn't delete the directories previously)
4. http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=154984
btw it's nice to see poeple trying stuff on their own and actually reading what they should do. I hope more guys here would be like you. ;)

1 - Up-to-date.
2 - Done. Using the latest 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904, the web setup u sent me, said it´s already up-to-date).
3 - Done already. Tried with yesterday. Just before i´ve posted. =\
4 - Done the 4th step. Did the drivers update. Disabled everything in game, under video options. Deleted those my documents files already aswell. I did a real clean install.
Windows XP 32 bit, SP3. =)
Here goes the crash dump. This one happened today. Right at blue bar, first load. 70% aprox.

Try the workaround found here: http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/wiki/index.php/3GB_Boot_Flag#Windows_Workarounds

He has got 1GB of RAM and also tried the OpenGL-Renderer.
Guess we have to wait for S2 Games checking the dump file.

I know 1 giga ram quite low, but i had to deal with it for now.
Not to mention i always being able to play with 1 gig only so far. Never had so many massive crashes like i am having now.
I really dont understand why HoN have ubber load times and crashes here.
I am even playing Splinter Cell - Conviction, who needs 1,5 gigs ram, and i got a nice performance in-game. All low/off on video options off course (just like HoN) but yet the game runs smoothly.
I wish i could make any sense of that. =\
But thanks anyway for the help guys. I will keep checking over the internet/forums to see if i get any hints.
=)
You have to understand that graphic engines are completely different to each other and require different specifications. Some heavily rely on the CPU, some need a good video card and others just need much RAM (or a combination of all of them).
HoN is very dependent on CPU and RAM (and it needs really much RAM ^^), while Splinter Cell: Conviction (it uses a polished Unreal 2.5/X Engine) pretty much just needs a good CPU.
I used to play HoN on my old laptop with 1GB too and it was a pain in the ass even though I disabled any effects and lowered the video details.
Did you try to lower the resolution too?

phys ram =/= vram the wiki explains this and that workaround should work
Also your crash dump came up with In-page I/O error which basically means you ran out of memory.

So if the problem was the ram, u telling me HoN is getting "heavier" at every patch it launches?
Coz at the beggining i could play HoN pretty good with only 1 gig ram. I started to get problems after 2.0 patch. After that patch and onward i had to low my video config. I remember i could play HoN with things at medium while. Now even at "low" and "disabled" i barely can. =\
Now i´ve reached the lowest config possible. Nothing more i can do. I will try the workaround. Let´s hope it works. I will post any info on what i have been able to do.
Thanks guys.
HoN really uses more RAM from time to time with each new patch, depending on how much new resources (read: Heroes, AltAvatars, Soundpacks etc) are being added.
The problem with 1GB RAM (and the /3GB workaround) is, that so much data gets outsourced on the HDD, which is tremendously slower than the RAM.

Well that´s a real big problem then. Coz back there when i paid for an account said "1 gb min system required" and still says that on the website.
If i am having problems on patch 2.0.8.1 on 3.0.0.0 for example, HoN will probably not even open up anymore.
Tried the /3gb workaround. Still crashing. When i play on a small window mode, sometimes i can get through an entire match.
1024x768 Window. The problem is even on windowed mode i get those crashes.
I am looking for answers over the net since i´ve posted here. Nothing helps. I think the only solutions is buying more RAM, which i cannot afford right now.
If that had happened on Open Beta, i would never had bought an account. Game system requirements increasing at each patch? Damn...
=\
But thanks BASH/Space Savage. For the time spent here trying to help me.
Keep up the good work. ^^
No problem.
I just want to mention that the minimum requirements are only meant to play the game at lowest settings, lowest resolution, no special effects or filters enabled and no mods installed. If you want a better gaming experience, there is no choice but to upgrade your rig or buy a new one.
btw. you can get 2GB of DDR2 RAM for less than 30 Euros.
