I have a brand new replacement alienware computer that has a problem running HoN. The specs for the computer are as follows,
Intel i7 Q740 Quad Core processor
4GB ram
Nvidia GTX 285M 1GB SLI ready graphics card
Intel Centrino Ultimate N6300 wireless card
DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM:
The problem I have been experienced i am fairly certain is network lag. Occasionally (every 1-3 minutes) any movable units (heroes and creeps) will start to stutter around in a jerky fashion. I can still give orders to my hero, but not with any form of finesse. Terrain effects and building animations (water movement and the floating skulls over hellborne towers for example) are not affected in any way, they run smoothly through the lag.
TESTING I'VE DONE SO FAR:
The reason I believe the problem is with my adapter is based on info I've gathered.
The problem was first experienced in a TMM game. Prior to that I had tested the computer in practice mode to see how it help up graphics wise. To test it I spawned a ton of heroes with aoe ults (like 5 magmuses ((magmi?)) a few glacius, several defilers and hellbringers, and a handful of krakens) and just spammed them all on screen. I figured that would be way worse than any possible team fight, and any drop in FPS was unnoticeable.
Furthermore, in some no stats 1v1 games with a friend of mine (in which the lag problem was occurring and noticeable) I attempted to find any graphics setting that would work. Low to high, setting the game to one core, increasing it's cpu priority, disabling SLI, none of these fixed it.
Eventually what did fix it was switching me to a wired connection. This made me wonder if it was just that router, so I tested HoN again at another location with a different internet connection. The first place was using an Airport, the new place had a duel band 300+300 wireless N router. Even at this new place the game experiences the same lag when played wirelessly.
TL/DR:
I am wondering if there are any known issues with my specific wireless adapter, and if you know of any solutions to this problem (aside from being wired all the time, which is impossible in my home due to limited possible router locations)? I could play HoN just fine on my network with my old adapter.
Thanks for any help!
