What is it?
Basically you, or with a team up to 5 total, go along the path and killing anything that comes in your way. Along the way you fight various bosses that will drop special items occasionally. Every now and then there is another town to stock up on new consumables and/or new more powerful items to help you continue the path. There will be a few curve balls throughout the way, you'll just have to find out what exactly those are. The goal of this game is to kill the final boss which is located through a teleporter in the final town. Defeat him and take out the base behind him. (The base might be invulnerable while he is alive idk if we can do this or not) Be fast about killing him and then take down the base ASAP because it wont be too long before he re spawns and the base becomes invulnerable again!
The best part is that we don't have to wait for S2 to upload it to their servers because this game will be able to be played solo (I hope) so you can play in practice mode!
The initial map is complete thanks to kukubara23. Don't know how else to have you guys recognize his name but he is the one that made the map look as good as it does today. All I did was come up with the idea/path/original crappy template. Props go to him for making it the way it looks today!
What needs to be done?
Complete
Incomplete
1. Original shop needs to be placed along with all the secret shops and town shops.
2. Creeps need to be introduced along with minor/major bosses and final boss.
3. Teleports need to be added to get into the final arena.
4. Once shops have been placed, they need to be edited with the correct items.
5. Custom Heroes need to be made.
6. Other suggestions from community (if any) need to be implemented.

1. This is so far into the future, but I hope to add in quests after the first version of the linear game play is done.

Some Random Questions.
Wait, so this is a single player map?? o_O
It can be played with 1-5 players. But until S2 starts accepting maps for public use on their servers, we will try making it solo. But when they start accepting maps we will balance it probably to 3-5 players.

I would call this an RPG. :p
This doesn't require a lot of scripting, its more of terrain editing and stuff like that.

I know, I'm working on the terrain now and when the basis is done (Basically the trails) I will provide a screen shot. If anyone has any suggestions to it once it is finished that'd be great :)

Okay the template is complete, I just can't get a screen shot because the editor doesn't run in windowed mode and when I take a screen shot it just takes a screen shot of my desktop instead :/
EDIT: I am going to upload it to my site for download to check it out that way...sorry until I know how to screen shot.

Basically the team will start in the bottom left, and make its way to the final town in the top left, where a teleport will bring you to the final battle that is cut off from the map. Along the way there will be MANY creep camps that are full of creeps along with mini-large boss battles. YOu can kinda tell just by looking at the map where the secret shops and towns/bosses will be.

He said the team start from one point and get to an end, fight neutrals and boss on its way. In Heroes Defense, you stay at one point and defense against waves of enemy.
What he is describing looks a lot more to a typical ORPG in WC3 but without quests and more linear.
Oh, I guess i skimmed through his post a bit too fast. <.<

Sounds like a cool map, like Oloko said there shouldn't be much scripting apart from adding in dropped items and a few bosses.

Thank you Roozi for informing me on screen shots. Sorry but I don't know how to put the picture in a spoiler of some sort so you click to open/close it. Other than those two changes that need to be made, we just need someone willing to program some of the stuff. If anyone is willing just PM me or message here and if you do it your name will be known when people play on the map/download it and such.

I don't know if you have already received answer, but maybe you should give a better description on what you need help with? I mean, you might need scripting for: items, spells, gameplay, etc.

Okay added legion store and base and helbourn base. Problem is for some reason it's only allowing 2v2. And kukubara23, we can't continue making changes at the same time because when we share we have to keep implementing them again and again. I'll take a break for now and I'll put in some creeps after. Still going to have to learn how to change items in the shops...

To fix the 2v2 problem you need to open up your map with winrar, or another archiving program. Then open worldconfig with notepad or notepad+++ (the latter is the better). One of the first few lines will list the minplayersperteam, leave this at zero. Change maxplayers to whatever you want on a team. for instance if you want the map to allow five players on a team make it "maxplayers = 5"

To change items in shop you need to add into your own map file a folder called resources, then add in a folder called shop etc etc. Basically (so that you learn not just copy what I tell you) you need to copy what is in the resources0.s2z in program files-heroesofnewerth-game. If you wanted to for instance remove an item from the store you would copy over the folders that lead to the store items, add in the file which lists the store items for purchase, and in the coding delete the line you do not want.
It is hard to explain and I learnt all this from Oloko but hopefully you get the picture. To add in your own items its a similar process.

There is a simpler way to do the Maxplayers no? Go open the map editor and then go to Properties(top right) and then it will say "Maximum Players(Per-Team)" and then set that to 5. Is that right or is this just crap lol?

Love the map although you should consider about making your own heroes to add a flavor to the map :).
You can make 6 abilities each i think
4 usable (like in HoN)
1 passive (atribute bonus)
1 ultimate or any ability (taunt)
not sure but i think you can use the fortification slot too :)

@Flamestick I think that'd be a better idea. 5 characters total to choose from or maybe more to add variety to the teams? Idk we will see. As for more abilities: that'd be a sick idea. If you have any ideas kukubara just PM and we'll continue workin

Why not make the Fortification thingeh Heal you're whole Team...and it having like a huge cooldown or only able to use it 1 time ;3 ? ...
Btw about the shop, you just need to add the shop in the map, and then put the "Shop" entity in you're map (I'm not 100% sure but this should do it)
And if you remove some of the items.entity like removing 1 line "minortotem.entity" will disable minor totem from the shop...i haven't really tried out the shop but it can't be that hard :P

Update: Map is all fancied up once again thanks to kukubara23.
Added in the beginning few creeps and the original shop. Legion and hellbourne bases are also added. Shops item's have yet to be edited.

Hey man, I have a proposition. I don't like making map in map editor but I love coding. I have made a lot of it in Archer wars:Legacy port for HoN (w3 map). Now i'm forced to make map in map editor. So my proposition is that you make map in editor (or just it map simmilar to - dont know how long it could take) and I make coding for you. Agreed?

Sounds good and all, but really all I did for the map so far is create the template and the idea and path. If you need someone to create a map ask kukubara23. He made the map all fancy for me and might be interested in your proposition. Send him a PM or just ask him here in the thread. Good luck!

yeah some spells have a 2nd use and you use the key thats on a passive dont know if that means you can get more but you just use the buttons

I didn't try it myself. I know that the stats bonus has a hotkey and the taunt too, so you would at least have 6. There is also a keyslot="#" you can set in your spell (used in Soulstealer), maybe you can find some use to it.

there are
- 4 main keys
- 3 sub keys
- 1 taunt key
- attribute bonus (passive)
So 8 keys to use and a passive (keyless)
If you wanna use your all 9 skills you will need to tweak the interface which shouldnt be that hard.

Hey i got a question, I made a tank glad with some abi's but for some reason after i load the game and tank with him, he gets deleted from the map, any ideas why?

Do you mean that he disappear when he gets hit? I'm kind of confused by your post.

When you save the map from the editor, it will delete the resource folder in your map, god knows why, but its made that way. You should always make a copy of the resource folder of your map before editing the map. I know it sucks to be told only now since I too lost all my scripts once that way.

When you had that problem I had to set all the neutrals to Hellbourne team and I was able to attack them but IDK if that's the reason or not.

Did you make sure to start the map twice before testing it?
Host it once, disconnect, host it again and start it. You should do this the first time you start your tests. If it's not because of that, I don't really know, does it do it for every hero or just yours?

I know of the following command:
<setteamsize team="1" size="1" />
Maybe the <setteamsize ... /> can be set to 10, so it would make on team of 10 player. Maybe it wouldn't work because of the interface. In this case maybe you could do:
<onentergame>
<setteamsize team="1" size="10" />
<foreachplayer>
<changeteam entity="target_entity" team="1" />
</foreachplayer>
</onentergame>
Maybe the <setteamsize ... /> wouldn't even be necessary.
But of course, all of this can't be tested since there is no way to use it with online player. So I have no idea how it would turn out in a game. the <changeteam ... /> does work, but I don't know what happen if you do it to change 10players to the same team.
There is always the good old workaround you can use:
Change every spell that can target enemy to enemy units only, so it won't hurt "allied" hero and pet. The spells that can be casted on teammate would then be set to other heroes and pet. So it wouldn't affect enemy units. Of course, workaround are always lame to use and can be quite annoying latter on.

Wouldn't using a normal neutral spawn work? With a high maxstack, it would spawn a high number of neutrals but wouldn't spawn if there are heroes.
Maybe I misunderstood you?
