View Full Version : [UI Problems] problems with alt avatars

If my computer crashes during a HoN game I can't see any alt avatars used in the game after reconnecting. It's just nothing, not even a health bar. I can see them shooting projectiles sometimes if I'm lucky enough that it's a ranged hero, but that's about it.
I tried everything, logging in, queue'ing myself for solo MM again before reconnecting so "assets loading" gets done, load a replay with the alt avatar in it, but all that happened was I lost some more precious reconnection time and I still couldn't see alt avatars ingame. This is seriously annoying specially since s2 is promoting these alt avatars like there's no tomorrow, every game has at least one or two of them.
Even more weird, sometimes halfway trough the game without me crashing, suddenly jollywood disappears, but only when he's holding a stick.

Could you please post your console.log as well as the other required information?

Sorry, will do as soon as possible.

Wasn't taken while HoN was running but memory used is about 2.3 GB I believe, I'll confirm next time I play. The consolo log I have now doesn't have the error in it, game didn't crash during a game with alt avatars in it. I'll post as soon as possible, one from right after the crash, another when the game ends after I reconnect when I crashed.
/edit: 2.1 - 2.3 GB memory when running a HoN game, haven't crashed yet.
By the way .nfo is an invalid file to upload it tells me. Pretty annoying.

Upload the console.log to tools.heroesofnewerth.com after getting the crash again.

Added. I crash, I reconnect, can't see my characters model. Another player had the same problem after he crashed and reconnected as well (couldn't see my model).
3 or 4 minutes into the game (after reconnect) my model reappears for me, but the other player couldn't see it for the entire game.
You appear to be getting a lot of networking messages (long server frame, assembled snapshot from 2 pieces) - have you added hon.exe/hon_update.exe as safe exceptions to both your firewall and/or antivirus suites?

/e: Lol reply appears as I post mine, refreshed it 20 mins back or so.
I have my firewall by default deactivated in windows, added the files to AVG exceptions, though I don't think that's the problem.
/e again: I'm on a wireless, every so many minutes I get an ~8 second lagspike. Might explain the network messages.

Any update on this? Recently I found out I wasn't the only one experiencing this problem (some friends or randoms who couldn't see an alt avatar after reconnecting from a pc crash, alt avatar was pirate flint every time).
It happened again for me as well.
This is an "indeterminate" bug with the game and is not something that we can really fix in tech support. I will talk to the guys over at Bug Reports and find out what is going on with it, and how to handle it. If this happens again, can you take a screenshot and immediately upload your console log again.

I'll upload data after a crash, but I'm not too sure if it'll happen again (the crashing) as I fixed some things (mostly screw stuff open and blow some dust away so it doesn't overheat as fast).
