What everyone need to get to have the best possible set up for controls is a Belkin n52te SpeedPad. Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-n52te-Tournament-Edition-SpeedPad/dp/B000WMEHYG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1252711362&sr=8-1)

I had issues with setting camera and ability and item control to keyboard and had wanted one off these for a while anyways, so this prompted me to spring for it.

I'm still working on perfecting the layout, but here is what I have so far:

DPad/Joystick: Camera (You need to turn off 8-way functionality and just make it 4-way or else it wont work right)
Button next to joystick: Alt (for map pings)
01: shop
02: Hold/Stop
03: Team Chat
04: Local Chat
05: Force Attack
06: Nothing yet
07: Ability 1
08: Ability 2
09: Ultimate
10: Ability 3
11: Shift
12: Item 1
13: Item 2
14: Item 3
15: Nothing yet

I can't even describe how amazing it is playing with this thing as compared to a keyboard. It's almost as if this thing was made for this game. The only thing that sucks is that its crazy expensive. Oh well, I hope I have helped some of you with your control problems.

Oh and it's got Razer drivers and software so you can make macros and map whatever thing you want to the buttons. Pair this up with a Razer mouse and you'll never have control problems ever again.

I think S2 should strike some sort of deal and get a discounted special HoN edition of this thing out or something. :D

EDIT: Also, I wasn't sure where to post this, but controls are part of the strategy of playing a hero so I figured this was the place.

Why would you need to buy one of those to play? a keyboard has enough keys and you can accomplish so much more by getting a mouse with SIDE BUTTONS, just move across a few from the crappy WSAD keys in everygame.

E,S,D,F for camera
Q,W,R,T for skills
1,2,3,4,5,6 for items
V to recall selection 1
B to recall selection 2
Space for shop
Left side mouse button for stop
Right side mouse button for attack

The only hold back right now is how controlling a group works. If you summon your Puzzlebox minions in the middle of a fight you quickly select them all and you can TAB through them, but if I issue a command with my hero highlighted the minions move too, which means if i've told one of them to do the mana burn skill and im trying to chase with my hero it will cancel the attack for the minion too. I don't think it worked like this in WC3.

Wow, didn't imagine everyone would be an asshat about it. Just trying to help people out who aren't happy with keyboard controls and want something else.

How about we all just pretend like the kayboard isnt exactly a GAMING controller, its meant for typing. There's a reason xbox/ps/wii/everything else doesn't use a keyboard; It has its limits.

I'm just relaying my experience with something that has alleviated much of my annoyances about the controls in this game.

Would you jump on someone that wrote talking about the config they have on their programmable mouse buttons?

I have my side mouse buttons bound to refresh and kill. Make what you want of that.

Yes but the main reason why people prefer PC over consoles is how the keyboard and mouse fit so well into the gaming side of things.
The mouse? You can move it as fast or slow as you want, it has plenty of functions.
The keyboard? Holy ****, my G15 I got the other day lets me play HoN 10x better, now I can get my guides, put them onto my LCD and I'm ready.

Kind Regards

How does that work? The screen's tiny and afaik monochrome.

If anything Controllers have their limits.

Only good thing would be a pressure trigger at the back and joystick.

This only applies for racing and sport games. Everything else you cant go wrong with a keyboard +Mouse

That's exactly what I was thinking...I'm looking at my G15 right now and I really can't see the viability of text scrolling down the little 1-1.5 by 5cm screen.

LCDClipboard.

You can fit 6 lines of text times 4 pages (24 lines)

So, your level's are practically set 1-16 (17 lines)
Then your item build, can't obviously be more than another 8...

Done, Easy, Works perfectly for me :D
