I don't like this at all. This kind of robs the will to grind through dozens of mm games to get that new skin. It was my understanding that you priced the items so heavily so they dont feel undervalued when everyone has 50%+ of the items if the pricing was lenient.

Imo you should either increase the price of the items even more, or make it so that the person referring gets a maximum of 150 coins. Come on, we don't want to reach a state where everyone has almost everything in the shop. 500 is way too much.

In many other games with "refer a friend" type programs there is usually something nice for both sides. Otherwise, why would my friends want to sign up through this program rather than just buy it the normal way? I think giving the other person 500 goblin coins is a good idea too :). You have to remove this feature from Danish users, otherwise you'll probably get in some kind of trouble when the danish consumer-department finds out.

This is not a threat or anything, but merely a friendly notice.

WoW has/had the similar feature where you'd get something if you recruited a friend. This was also closed for danish users.

The reason it's illegal is because it's considered pyramid-scams when you get something of money-value in return for recruiting new people.

I am actually wondering whether this goes for a game not specifically marketed in the country in question. Let's say a certain country forbade the colour green in any kind of media, would all the publishers around the world have to specifically obstruct people from that country from being able to obtain their products, just because they happen to be available on the Internet?

I've asked myself a similar question regarding software patents not too long ago. Is it really required to cater to the absurd laws of some random country (in this specific case, the US) if your product just happens to be available there because it is available internationally? This is definitely worth looking into, especially in an Open Source context.
