Has anyone heard about any CTF map in the works?
If there is none, then I might very well start developing it right here!

Aight, work on the very first HoN CTF map is starting NOW!
To learn list:
-How to make custom items (the flags)
-How to create a custom entity to act as a flag spawner
-How to create a custom entity to act as the goal/flag base
-How to create a custom entity/UI element to keep track of the score
-How to modify the map properties so that victory is achieved after X points instead of the shrines being destroyed (or if this can't be done, learn how to destroy shrines on a triggered event)
Basic project guidelines/objectives:
-Implement a fast-paced gameplay where flags and flag-carriers play a big role
-Keep the game as balanced as possible
-Give an opportunity to each kind of hero to shine
-While the focus of the gameplay must revolve around the flags, I still want to keep some core gameplay from the original game like pushing, ganking and generally teamfighting.

Hmmm Interesting, thought there would be a couple of people working on this kind of map since it's a pretty obvious one IMO.
Aight, I'll start working on this and keep the thread updated... I don't know much about mapping for HoN yet, but a CTF map aint too complicated.

It will be hard as hell to keep the current heroes balanced on this map. IMO you should create like 4 heroes using existent models and giving them different skills then they currently have.
I will give a few examples on heroes and skills. For instance, you have to balance the mode in order to keep every hero viable but still make them fun in CTF. Take blink as a skill. That would be hell of OP, and if I were to create a hero with blink he must be squishy as hell or slow as hell or [insert something bad] as hell.
Valkyrie model with her arrow, can oneshot everyone once it went a distance further then x units.
Torturer with his impalement and stun would be great defensive abilities.
Bubbles take cover is also a great example of what would work in CTF. It should be fastpaced and take cover would be a really great skill.
Some questions:
Are you planning to add towers?
Creeps?
Neutrals?
Powerups?
Money?
Shops?
Diverse items?
There is alot of questions that have to be answered before you can start to make this fully functional, but overall you got a great idea and I hope you do the best of it. If you do this right, this will probably be insanely fun.

it would be AWZM with a CTF map. but, you shouldent really involve the other gameplay like pushing or something like that. you should have a starting point, a base for each team, and some sick juking spots. items shouldent really be involved, that would make the gameplay too competetive, try to make a more fun and intense kind of map. the main goal in CTF is obv to capture the flag and run back home to deliver the flag, and with hon it should be exatly that, u should have only have a pool of heroes that can be used so u dont have to go all that much into balancing. i dont know what u mean by pushing? you cant have 2 games go on in one game, that would be too confusing and people would find out what the most effectve thing to do is and the other part would be left out. go with the simple CTF but with HON STYLE. looking forward to se the result. could be awzm.

In fact, I was thinking of having the flag be an undroppable item that silences and perplexes the carrier so that when you pick it up, you can either run or auto-attack while your team has to protect you 4vs5.
This way the balance of the game can be kept a lot closer to what it is in vanilla HoN, barring some heros like Defiler who could just Ult, then pick up the flag and run.

IMO, the game would be much more interesting if there were in fact towers, items, pushing and ganking involved. for instance, you could have a high mobility team that aims to capture the flag early without pushing while another team could be more defense-oriented and try to get a rax before attempting to score, meanwhile holding the enemy back with defensive skills like fissure, pebbles' AOE skills, etc.

make only a few classes, like 5 heroes per side to choose from
(can have duplicate heroes then) like healer, stunner and some more skilled heroes like valk and devourer and maybe gauntlet
no items, no levels
and be able to kill people in 2-5 hits, or it doesnt work tbh

Really, don't do unecessary ****. All you have to do like someone said above me is make a map with few classes, revealed and silenced flagcarrier, be able to get killed in 5 hits, no items, no creeps.
Just focus on the CTF part imo. That is what makes this such a great idea. Then you can add some new other interesting ideas like teleporters, jukespots, intense gameplay by having the best skills to be SKILLBASED. No1 want a Pestilence running around at 500 movespeed and pressing w every now and then. Torts/Pyros stun, bubbles take cover, valk arrow, nymph old heal (can be coded), fissure, toss. All are fun spells that will make it fast paced and will also decide which team wins.
I think I actually got a great idea.
EVERY class/hero should have take cover as their third spell. Make it last 2 sec at max and give it a cd of something like 12 seconds to prevent it from being spammable.
This will make this insanely fun and skillbased since all other skills should be low cd imo, no one wants a game with 20 sec cd on your only good skill. Play with the numbers and try to make it as fun as possible. Maybe 3 skills for every hero is enough? Who knows until you tried! After you achieved this, THEN maybe it is time for balancing and ****, but comon, this is the last part to do and probably not too difficult if you minimize the amount of classes.
I know there are alot of technichal issues but nothing of what I said should be impossible to do with enough time. This is my dream when thinking of HoN ctf, I really want to skip the parts about tower pushings, farming and so on. Ganking can be a great concept though. I mean, if their fastest moving hero or the only hero that can hit someone from a distance gets ganked 10 sec before his flag is taken, then it is probably pretty easy for the ganking team to get an easy point.

Easy thing to do. Flags would be like double damage rune with that blue effect, and about getting flag to ring would count points like its did in enfos map/towerdefence

i hope its NO BLINK NO TP for the person carrying the flag. buffs also shouldnt work? ( blacksmith frenzy + wildsoul = imba * same for warbeast * )
if its no blink, TP, buffs i would love it

Isnt it unnecessary to create new heroes if he (like nearly everyone) doesnt know alot about the editor/hon scripting? Just decide if the map should be focused around normal hon + ctf or only ctf and worry about balance after the map is done.

Does anyone remember the WC3 map with the (shamans from the orc-race, which is the same model as the bloodhunter in DotA) where you had to fight as a team of 8/10/12 against upcoming creeps, where you could buy items and choose classes which were semi-WoW stolen?
Being a bit vague, but that was an awesome game, want to know the name :)

I had some plans thought out for a CTF -map, but I'm too lazy and bummed out to work with the editor at the moment. Me and some friends discussed different heroes etc. that would work with different abilities, some more defensive (stuns, mines, slows) and some more offensive (movement speed, stealth, blind etc.).
Would be fun if someone cares to do one... whenever custom maps will work.
