USB headset is muffled

I have a USB headset that works fine for other applications, but sounds like I am at the end of a tunnel with a pillow over my face when I used it in HoN. It seems like USB headsets are known to not work very well. Am I out of luck? I would really like to be able to talk to my teammates.

Yeah, some mics seem to give HoN trouble. I believe the voip system will be getting some enhancements in the future, but I've got no eta on that :/.
