View Full Version : Pebbles Chuck Strategy

I just recently learned how you can chuck someone to yourself as Pebbles. I realised how deadly this can be with certain teleport mechanics. This means, if you have some sort of non-disjointing teleport at work with Pebbles, the target you chuck to yourself follows you to wherever you teleported.
I've decided to compile a list of this that can work with this mechanic.
Chuck to yourself while these events happen:
:glad: Showdown
Grimms Crossing Teleporters
:TabletOfCommand: use on yourself
Chuck to another target while these events happen:
Target of :glad: Showdown
Someone taking the Grimms Crossing teleporters
:damp: using his jump
:pred: leap
Whoever a :TabletOfCommand: is used on
If you have anything to add, like a confirmation or another mechanic, post below!
Predators leap can also be used to follow targets of the second list.
*Note* Some of these, like the tablet of command ones, can be used to save allies, by chucking them to yourself and tablet up a cliff. Be sure to always be thinking about how you can make the best plays!
Special thanks to the LNTC clan, their video showed me the gladiator/pebbles combo and got me thinking of different ways it could be exploited!

On the new 3v3 map, Grimms Crossing, there are two teleporters in the middle; the two huge statues on either side of the rune. Right click on one, and you will be sent to the other.

In the new 3v3 map, grimms crossing there are 2 teleporters that link to each other. If you step on one, you will walk out at the other.
EDIT: Damn you, typhy.

Through some testing, tablet of command is my new favorite item on Pebbles, right after Portal Key of course.

Spells with the <unbind property is deadly to your Chuck strategy
Yeah, I'm currently going through every hero with some displacement spell to see if a chucked target follows them. A lot of my prime candidates aren't working, but a few good ones are, like tablet and pred leap, adds some nice synergy. I gotta try this in a game later today.

It's a strategy that can be used with Pebbles Chuck, so I assumed posting this in the strategy section would be good. And between the two lists? On the first list, if you use chuck and click yourself, and one of those things in the list happens to you, the target you chucked will follow you. However, the second list is where you have to chuck to a different target other than yourself, such as predator or dampeer.
Actually <disjoint is deadly too
Does Homecoming stone disjoint or unbind? I can't find that it does in the game files, but it doesn't work the way I hoped with chuck. I assumed it follows the person using the stone, but it doesn't.

So what's the practical application for this? Are you basically undoing whatever causes people to move, by chucking them back to yourself immediately after whatever moves them occurs? I dont really understand how tablet helps you in a game.
Nvm got it now. I still don't see this being all that lethal except periodically forcing someone to tower dive or whatever. But im not that great at hon so yeah.

It only disjoints.
Attaching something to a projectile automatically breaks channeling anyway, so it doesn't matter if it unbinds or not.

Doesn't have to be lethal to be good. Can save a friend or force two people up a cliff.
Lets say you want someone attacking you to go up the cliff to your base, where your allies are waiting. Chuck the enemy to yourself while you tablet yourself up the cliff wall, and the enemy will be up the cliff wall, as well as you, and no matter what direction he faces that's what will happen. It's different from just chucking him up there, as it puts you up there too without having to use portal key.
Simply just adds to his utility.

Fair enough.
Leetard:
Basically, according to my understanding, you chuck someone to yourself, and as the animation is occurring you change your position. This is done through the means that were posted by the TS, tablet being the easiest to perform since you do it to yourself.
So the person is within the chuck range (of people to throw), you chuck them at yourself, and then you move yourself to another position. They follow you, assuming that you got the timing right, and also wind up at the new position.
For example either what the TS said in response to me in that quote up there, or if Gladiator showdowns you and then, as the showdown goes off, you chuck someone at yourself. That person then also gets taken back to where showdown was cast.

i dont get it
seems like the most effective thing a pebbles could do when puppet is ulting is either toss the victim at puppet if theres no chance of said victim beating up on puppet or chucking him somewhere else randomly so hes still not close to puppet but taking longer to escape the ult. or just killin errrrbody.

I showed my friend this mechanic, and just the next game he saved our lives by Chucking then using the teleporters on Grimms Crossing. Devourer was coming right for us. Devo used it too, and since I didn't have the debuff, I used it and got away safely. Sadly, my friend died in the process. Better than both of us dieing, though.
Tablet on Pebbles can do some cool things, just like that devourer video where he tableted up while hooking his friendly Rampage from eminent doom. All about using it smartly.

I ganked bh at one point, after my stun he started to tp back, and he actually made it back to base, but glad had used his showdown, and bh landed right back next to us.

Well an interesting thing I wanna try with my friends is showdown pebbs at our fountain while TPing then blinking at an enemy and self-tossing then activate showdown to chuck the enemy to our fountain?

Ophelia, and Pebbles-Chuck strategy doesnt work....
(if you chuck and get ported home by Oph. the target falls down at the position where you disappeared and not in the fountain...)

You need 3 heroes. Glad, Pebbles, and a person to chuck.
Glad showdowns pebbles, pebbles portal keys to the other person, CLICK on YOURSELF with chuck, and showdown to bring him back.

Stand next to opponent, chuck him. If you ever played pebbles, you know that when you sologank some1, you can still chuck him, no matter if there are creeps or not.

care thou that you do not toss enemy to enemy. on the "normal" solo gank you toss enemy to himself (just in the air)

You could simply chuck the enemy up there and then tablet yourself up there too. Easier to pull off and same result i should think.

I made a post about this a while back, kinda.
If you chuck someone at a bubbles, who throws shell, and teleports to it, you can get the person to change direction while in the air.
