View Full Version : Request: Help for a newbie who wants to use Soulstealer

I just started playing this game today. On my very first match, I chose Soulstealer. He seems like a pretty nice character, and I want to get better with him. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to play this game. I've never played DOTA, and the Soulstealer guides confuse me.
Is anyone able to dumb down what I need to do? I'd like help deciding what items to buy, how to DENY people, how to farm gold (because apparently Soul Stealer is really good at it), and all those other basic things.

Last hit enemies, use your spells to farm enemies so you charge up your attack and amass gold. Use easy gold farm to buy damage items.
His first ability is 3 spells that have the same effect, just different distances in front of you. Get used to positioning yourself and casting two hits to clear a creep wave.

1. Don't use Soulstealer as your first character, even though he's high tier, he's fairly difficult to use, doesn't have great survivability, doesn't have a stun, his nukes are hard to aim and you need to master last hitting and denying to maximize his effectiveness.
2. Here are some guides you might find helpful, it's best to learn the basics before jumping in the deep end.
You won't understand most guides until you have a good idea of what you're doing.
3. Some heroes I personally recommend you start out with are:
-Pestilence: Arguabably one of the strongest heroes in the game and easy to use. He has a good amount of health, a great stun, extremely fast movespeed, does decent damage and his ultimate skill (fourth) is very, very useful.
-Pyromancer: Though his stun is hard to aim, it's easy to use his first nuke and his ult.
-Arachna: Fast moving attack projectile and lots of damage makes it easy to last hit and deny, you'll have good lane control with her. Very easy to harass the enemy with webshot. But remember she's extremely fragile = get bracers.
