Map Description: 5 Vs 5 Map, The goal is to kill enemy heroes as much as possible, you will only be able to play the hero "Valkyrie". You're supposed to dodge the enemy arrows,and kill enemies with you're own arrows.
Valkyrie have some custom abilities, that may aid you in this fast paced map.

How to play the map:
Download the map
Put the map file "Snow" into you're Heroesofnewerth/game/maps folder
Start Heroes Of Newerth
Press CTRL+F8
Write in --> startgame: "practice" "foobar" map:"snow"
Select Valkyrie...enjoy...playing alone... :(
Need Help!:
Okay so i have added some new skills to valkyrie, but i have no clue what to call them, since my imagination is bad as a stone, i need your help!, here are the skills i have added!
Moraxus - Arcane Shield
Dark Ladies Ultimate - Cover Of Darkness
Javelin Of Light (I have called it "Javelin Of Death" now,if think this is a bad name, give me some of you're ideas)
Updates:
-Legion/Hellbourne Team Wins after 45 Kills!
-Added Moraxus Arcane Shield, to valkyrie
(if you successfully "Catch" the arrow, the enemy who threw the arrow will die,

-Increased the camera zoom!
(you can zoom out more then normal)
-Changed some minor stuff
-Edited the Hellbourne side,to be identical to Legion side

(Have to tweak the radius and etc though)
-Added a Rune Spot in the middle of the map

A nice idea :D, But idk if i can manage to do that, or if it's even possible.. (I have no clue)....:P ... but i might just make the kills to 35/45 ..:3 Not too long, or too short.

You should make it like Dodge Ball and give all the Valkyries Moraxus' second ability to absorb or "catch" a javelin - killing the Valk who threw it.
Probably have to speed up the javelins and shorten the catching window to like .5 seconds to make it harder to catch one.

Or make it upgradable, starting at normal speed and buying more speed aoe and (range?) as you get kills.

I guess 45 kills should be okay
or you add some kind of system (as it was in some wc3 games) so that all players can vote for some amount of kills and then the average number will be used :)

I had actually put a game similar to that in my "maps to make" list. I had all the different heroes and their skills out on paper!

Also, i would recommend changing every instance of the word Moraxus and change it to Valkyrie... then, depending on what ability slot you put it in, change every instance of Ability2 to Abilityx. I wouldn't mind doing it for you if you need help. I think you can do it, though.

xD Thnx alot :D , But I'm going to try it out myself first, if i can't do it at all, ima PM you and beg you for help :P , But lately ive been busy for my darling Map Editor :) , Thnx alot for the offer :D, and dude...ur Map..and Olokos..map..S2 should implent it now..even if its not finished...remove caldavar who needs it? xD
An idea:
Valkyrie has to pick up the arrows in specific places, which are limited. This makes it difficult as the enemy can target that spot.

small suggestion :
In w3 Potm wars were like pudge wars you could upgrade range, dmg, speed and radius of the arrow.
I think it had 1 sec cd and there was fog on the other side.
It also had other 2 abilities so zou could of leaped and used the aoe thing.

You could also remove the base buldings (i saw it from dev wars :D) just for more space to move and import a shop that we can purchase upgrades, like more javelin speed, range, dmg etc.

best solution would be indeed, that you can choose the amount of kills....
if not possible, you would have to patch the map after release anyway, because you cant estimate a perfect number of kills in theory, you need to feel that sh*t :D

Upgrading speed, range, radius and distance on one ability through any other means than the ability itself (e.g. other abilities, purchasable upgrades) is VERY difficult, at least for me. I still haven't been able to do it right for dev wars. It's easy if you only have one passive ability that modifies one active (see engineer, pebbles, defiler), but after that it gets difficult.
I don't know about kills upgrading the jav's though... actually, that'd be easy. Make it so there is no experience gained for people that didn't get the kill, then make each level require x amount of experience and each kill give y amount of experience. Then just set the required levels for the ability to "1,2,3,4,etc".
In game_settings.cfg
Set "g_experienceRange" "1000.0000"
Set "hero_experienceTable" "0,200,500,900,1400,2000,2700,3500,4400,5400,6500,7 700,9000,10400,11900,13500,15200,17000,18900,20900 ,23000,25200,27500,29900,32400"
Set "hero_expUnsharedBountyPerLevel" "12.0000" <---- I think that's the radius exp?
OR... you could make an accumulator that makes the ability get better each time you get a kill. It would add charges like rampage's ability that adds damage based on movespeed.

Never actually played "Valkyrie Wars" in WC3 xD, only played Hero Line Wars,Footmen Frenzy and Pimp My Peon xD, but i know that this Map is already created in Wc3 and 200x times better :D, and i don't think i want people to leap over to the enemy side....i want the "Arrow" to be the main "Thaang" xD, but i like the idea with upgrading range and etc! :D, But i think i might do it just like how LonJAXsoN explained(End of my post)Because that sounds alot easier,and will work as good as the shop, imo better ;D

:D I have already removed the main Base and made them invicible, but I'm not going to add a shop, Because as each kill you get you will get experience and when you level up you will be able to Level up you're ability (I'm planning on doing this)

Yeah..i really don't have a clue how many kills will be best..asked my friends who plays HoN to..they have tried the map to...but they don't really know either since we cant test the map with other players, so i think i will make it 45 for now, and if it's possible to actually "Patch" the map if it ever gets released..xD..then i will try to make this happend :D

You need to make it so something happens when arrows collide.
Maybe if it's head on or close to head on, they cancel out, but if you hit another one in the side only the hit one is destroyed and then you get some sort of bonus.

I think making it like this will be extremly hard..atleast for me, I'm really new to making Maps..i was making a map on WC3 that i only made for myself, because i was just making it for fun, and I'm still making it for fun now, and im pretty sure someone has already created a way better Valkyrie Wars map compared to me, but this idea i don't think is even possible for to me make work..Sorry about that :P
I'm like baby when it comes to the map editor, still trying to take my first steps, and eventually i can hopefully walk. xD

Hero ideas I had had for my dodgeball game:
Five hero "types" and every hero has two "types":
Throwers - Excel at throwing, have faster projectiles/can throw more rapidly
Dodgers - Hard to hit, or able to avoid getting hit, blink/invisibility/temporary immunity
Disablers - Cause AOE slows or very short stuns, but don't make players "out"
Catchers - Able to be hit by balls, but with good timing "stop" them
Support - Able to push players out of the way or otherwise prevent them from being "out"
Valkyrie - Thrower/Dodger - Special abilities: Leap and Pierce (balls hitting someone continue to go through units, can get multiple people out)
Madman - Thrower/Dodger - Special Abilities: Stalk and Gatling (gatling allows super fast throwing, basically removes cooldown on casting briefly)
Vindicator - Disabler/Support - Special Abilities: Halt and Drain (halt is an AOE slow while Drain temporarily prevents an enemy from throwing)
Devourer - Disabler/Catcher - Special Abilities: Rot Bomb and Grip (rot bomb AOE slows while Grip catches any balls that make contact with his arm)
Flint - Throw/Disabler - Special Abilities: Quick Shot and Barrage (quick shot has a cast time and fires extremely quickly in a straight line while barrage AOE slows)
Defiler - Thrower/Disabler - Special Abilities: Silence and Wave (silence prevents throwing while wave fires three balls at once in a kind of triangle shape)
Demented Shaman - Thrower/Support - Special Abilities: Flask and Guardian (if flask hits a target, it explodes stunning all other nearby targets while guardian causes a ball to be reflected in the direction it came)
Wretched Hag - Thrower/Dodger - Special Abilities: Blink and Wave (pretty much the same wave as Defiler has)
Scout - Thrower/Dodger - Special Abilities: Invisibility and Arc Shot (pretty much the same as quick shot)
Nymphora - Disabler/Support - Special Abilities: Pod Ball and Teleport (pod ball places a pod and stuns anyone near it when it goes off, while teleport allows you to instantly port a player to another location)
Just a few ideas of you want to use any or feel ambitious

I actually removed leap...Don't want people to leap all over the place...well i could make so they could leap 1 time every 200 seconds :P, but i don't want people to dodge the arrows way to easily...the "Arcane Shield" will work quite well for this map, since you will kill the enemy whoever threw the arrow, because my main goal for this map, is that it wont get booring to fast...if people keep dodging every single arrow...people will be :madm:
But maybe i will add it...with a long cooldown....? xD, well im up for new ideas.. :D Pebbles stun? :D just last for 0.7 seconds and the range is increased a bit........lol....(I'm just talking **** now...)

A channeling slow could be fun too, at the cost of being vulnerable, you slow one of the opponent?
But I guess a slow could be OP in this kind of map.

You should really consider lowering the amount of ground it covers then^^
The same radius asd pyro's stun would work i think, so you could catch 1, maybe 2 if you did well. Otherwise you'd be constantly blinded

Yes i will change the radius, but i will also add a long cool down, so people cant spam it, i think i want people to use it max 2 times (each) after that the game should be ended...:P

because if it's still 2sec it's OP imo, you should make it like 0.2/0.3 so you'd have to press the button at the moment you're getting hit, otherwise you could just activate the skill and run into as many arrows as you want to.

I think leap with a long cooldown (2 minutes plus) would be fine to where you can upgrade it all the way down to one minute. With 5 arrows every 3 seconds, 1 leap per 100 arrows doesn't seem op.
Also, DL ult is an awesome idea. However, I would make the radius way smaller (single target, 2 if they are standing together) and also add a decent cool down.
It might also be fun to add some trees to the map so arrows are easier to hit.

Don't worry I'm changing it to about 0.5 or 0.4 and testing it out, because right now it's insanely easy to dodge the arrows :D, btw i will have about 30 seconds cooldown on the block (Or 15) since i want people mostly to spam arrows :D

i made a similiar arena thing in the WC3 editor...and it was alot easier...HoN Editor is in Beta or Alpha..just called beta..right now..and it's pretty hard for dumb people like me :D, i have gotten tutored by Jaxon and Oloko :D
So this i can't do...weee :D (Well if you pay me 200 $, and a cute swedish wh0re + a video of Maliken raging at someone IRL, i will consider it.)

I can Upload it...but there is no point..since this is a multiplayer map..and i haven't even managed to test it 100% because there is no option to actually play with others, you can only play in Practice and all by youreself...
So nope you can't play with you're friends :(

suggestions:
make the arrow work like chips rockets, as in they go straight towards cursor position, instead of having to click the ground. Should be fairly straightforward to do. also arrows could have 1-3 charges, with a 1-2sec respawn time, might be interesting to stock them up.
another idea could be to have both leap and moraxus shield on a 10-15sec cooldown.
about the tdl ult, you could have it that it affects the target for like 3-4sec, but you have to aim it, like it would travel like pebb stun, and you could create traps with stocked arrows forcing the opponent to eat a blind -> easier to follow up.
and maybe one idea could be to have a curving/bouncing/returning projectile or something, with a longer cooldown.
just a few ideas i had :)

You should increase the winning conditions to (Playernumber*7). The current 9 Kills on average per player is just not enough. Also, it would be nice if the shield reflects the javelin towards the owner, rather than killing the owner.

This is going to be awesome if it gets implemented. I just got this little idea, vectortargetable arrows. The vector could be something like gauntlets old grapple, you click on the ground and choose where the gauntlet/arrow is going to turn from that point, by implementing arrows like that you could get more depth in the game, and the difficulty would rise. (im not thinking that all arrows should be targetable like that, but everyone could have an extra skill with longer cooldown).
But still, this looks awesome. :valk:

suggestions:
make the arrow work like chips rockets, as in they go straight towards cursor position, instead of having to click the ground. Should be fairly straightforward to do. also arrows could have 1-3 charges, with a 1-2sec respawn time, might be interesting to stock them up.
another idea could be to have both leap and moraxus shield on a 10-15sec cooldown.
about the tdl ult, you could have it that it affects the target for like 3-4sec, but you have to aim it, like it would travel like pebb stun, and you could create traps with stocked arrows forcing the opponent to eat a blind -> easier to follow up.
and maybe one idea could be to have a curving/bouncing/returning projectile or something, with a longer cooldown.
just a few ideas i had :)
Thnx for sharing you're ideas with me, but i don't think i can't even manage to change the arrow so much so easily..as stated im so bad with the map editor, its all thnx to Oloko that i'm even still bothering creating this map, without him would manage to do **** :P and Jaxon have helped me alot to :D, so this seems to be in a different league then me, but i don't want the arrow to be different then the normal valk arrow, i don't want it to be as easy to hit as the chipper rocket :P, about the TD ult, i think i will keep it just the way it is, just alot smaller radius, and i might change it to single target :3

You should increase the winning conditions to (Playernumber*7). The current 9 Kills on average per player is just not enough. Also, it would be nice if the shield reflects the javelin towards the owner, rather than killing the owner.
I might try to make so you can vote for how many kills you want when you start the game, but atm i don't have a single clue how to make it that way..so...yeh :P well im thinking about it.
This is going to be awesome if it gets implemented. I just got this little idea, vectortargetable arrows. The vector could be something like gauntlets old grapple, you click on the ground and choose where the gauntlet/arrow is going to turn from that point, by implementing arrows like that you could get more depth in the game, and the difficulty would rise. (im not thinking that all arrows should be targetable like that, but everyone could have an extra skill with longer cooldown).

Yes, Hellbourne side is bigger :D, Thnx alot for telling me this!,i made the terrain rather quick, and my eyes are blind, Thnx alot for telling me this :D (Funny how it's always Hellbourne who get the avantages...) , I'm going to fix this as soon as i get my laptop back :), once again Thnx.
Btw if some of the arrows hit, they kill their target instantly, so having a Barbed armor giving 20% damage in return, is kind of..useless :P
Btw..the Arrows thingeh...I'm really not sure...first of all making it like that is gonna be pain...but also..it will remove 1 of the main thing i want the map to have..."Arrows,arrows,arrows,arrows ... :D , i want it to be fast paced, so you don't really have time to look whos calling you on the phone.."

I just read this thread and all of these are great ideas AND im freaking anxious for this to be playable. :) If you want someone to help you test ill gladly be there. If it gets uploaded, I'm probably going to dl it regardless. :D
My idea was that you could do something like a targetable :legi: taunt with (obviously) a much larger range and make it a channel or self silence. That way its a gamble for you to use it, sort of like taunting in normal dodgeball. :P

I do acctually agree with this suggestion, because if you die when someone catches your arrow it makes it so that you do not always want to spam the arrows because the of fear of dying. And if you get an extra arrow for catching a arrow, it just add more arrows to the game. And that'll make it even more fastpaced.

Another Idea: If possible, implement traps (invisible to the others). Instant cast with cancelable animation (you can only place it exactly where you are standing). The visual can be scout's ward and the effects - glacius' freeze and/or slow, or even TDL's ultimate (on that particular person). Numbers will need some tweaking though :)

Well..to dodge the Arrow using the Shield...is actually Quite hard..you gotta react really really fast, so aiming for the shield only..(to kill) will make you lose...because the shield have a "decent" amount of cooldown, so you can't spam it, but i find the idea intresting, I will think about it i guess :D, but as of now, i wont change it :#

Hm...i dont think the you're teammates will throw arrow the opposite direction...since peple will try to actually hit their arrows and kill someone...throwing it the wrong way...is kinda "stupid" :P , so idk how this can confuse people...all the incoming arrows should be considered "deadly"...and if i color the arrow...it might look..a bit..uhm... Lame...it just wont fit in :3

Suggestion:

Catch: Adds a charge to Throw up to 2/3/4/5

Yes i do understand :D, (i bet my English is worse xD) Well the idea isent a bad one, but..the thing is...Dodging(catching) the arrow wont be as easy, and if people stand still and will only try to catch the arrow, they will be targeted fast, you have about 0.5 seconds to react (and im thinking of making the arrow faster) and if you only see 1 arrow...the enemy team will prolly lose....because you can basically spam the arrows. But i might change to charges instead..I'm not sure though...i still like the "kill" instead of "charge" shield.. :D

Although you are taking a break I'll suggest something for later, if you are going to keep the current catch killing, you should make it that if a catch is successful a projectile fires back at the thrower for a little more aesthetic look to the mechanics. Maybe the projectile could be the old, really bright, really low javelin, just to humiliate them.

having a shield that can kill the arrow thrower is rather easy imo. make it so that the shield catches the arrows up to maybe 4 charges or so. once you have all the charges, the next catch kills the thrower. would add another layer of strategy to this awesome game

Walking around with a shitty movement speed is booring as hell, i have tried my map plenty of times..and the movement speed pisses me off to :P so im going to incrase it! and speeding up the Javelin xD and the 2nd idea...Sorry can't do.

and please don't include all files in your map, it's unnecessary to include files like models and voices or other sounds

An idea:
Valkyrie has to pick up the arrows in specific places, which are limited. This makes it difficult as the enemy can target that spot.

RuneSpawn = Haven't had time to even check it out, i will fix it when i get time
The abilities CD's = Haven't fixed them because when im testing the map..i don't want to spam the refresh button :P

Loved it, this is going to be so cool when it is released for multiplayer.

It is too easy to deny arrows, throwing a well timed arrow can mean your death too easily, I would be reluctant to spam arrows across the map when any of them will instant kill me from one push of a button.
While testing this I found that you can only use the deny once while your alive. Is this a bug or intended? It may be that the cool down is just not showing. I found that using the move and not killing someone with it would put the move into cool down, but using it to kill and enemy made it un-usable until you died (however there was no indicator to show it was un-usable).
I think you already know that the rune in the middle can not be reached? I tried it from the hellbourne side because LotharsHedge said he tried it from Legion, still no good. That's a quick fix though.
Anyway keep up the good work, this is easily one of the more fun maps I have tried!

Introduction:
After reading through this thread and the end of this project I was very dissappointed, a lot of people tried to help
ScreenShotx and did him support with his map. So much support and enthusiasm about this project it would simply
"die" ? I requested the files and asked him if I am allowed to continue this project. He agreed, now here we are...
Valkyrie Wars is revived!
Gameplay:
The aim of that game is to reach a number of hero kills by using the arrow skill of valkyrie. You have additional
abilities to make it more interesting, more difficult and more fun! Only valkyrie is available, it won't be possible
to enter the area of the other team, you will have to use very good aimed arrows to win that war.
Overview:
Hero | Map | Game
Hero:
Ability 1 - [Catch] - [95%]
allows to catch a [Arrow] to avoid death
on succesfull catch you gain an additional [Arrow]
on use: increase movement speed by 50,75,100,125 for x seconds
cooldown: 50,40,30,20 sec
reactiontime: 1.25, 1.00, 0.75, 0.50 sec (on use the arrow has to hit you while the reactiontime is not expired)
Ability 2 - [Arrow] - [95%]
throws a [Arrow], kills on touch enemy heroes
you have only one charge, can be stacked up to 4 with [Catch]
you will regain your charges up to 1 charge every 3 sec
increase flyspeed every level
If you have more than one arrow, you can throw them one by one without
the 3 sec cooldown between them, but you won't be able to throw them all a once like chipper rockets.
Ability 3 - - [70%]
target a enemy hero and reduce his vision by x for y sec
after a hero had to suffer by [Blind] he gains [Holy Light]
[Holy Light] prevents beeing affected by [Blind] for next 5 sec.
cooldown: 50,40,30,20 sec
[Holy Light] prevents from 5 Valkyries which are coordinating their cooldowns to reduce the vision
of an enemy hero permanently.
[B]Ability 4 - [Around the Corner] - [0%]
throws a special arrow in a direction
you can additional let him change his direction
can't be catched
kills on touch
high cooldown about ~ 60 sec

All the abilities are mostly based on community suggestions. All numbers are more like placeholders.

This game could be really amazing if it was like pudge war... you can upgrade your arrow so it does more dmg or goes faster and with money u get, u buy item that boost your spell... an arrow that have the ability to life steal, stun ect
