Disclaimer
How will you stop people from purchasing a new skin (or grinding it) and then releasing it as a mod?
We won't. In fact, we don't mind if you do. To go further on this, you don't even need to grind out the avatar, because it will already be on your computer when you download the patch. Like all mods though, it will be local. The fun part about alternate avatars is that other people can see them too.

Good job making all skins with projectiles and announcers with text work. :)
The only thing that needs fixing, is announcer voice for witch slayer hero picking.
It points to announcersound="alt/sounds/voice/hero_select.wav" but there is no alternative sound for picking.

Why are some heroes excluded?
In particular the pimpslayer. I was hoping to get a version of him where his auto attack was fixed.

All 2.0 Hero Models is the one you are looking for.
His main mod is to disable most of the "fun" skins and announcers.

S2 should really block this. I dont complain, now I wont have to buy any of them. But if they wanna earn money they really should block the models, and the announcers.

It's already explained in the other thread that this isn't considered an offence since this mod is ONLY CLIENT SIDED, meaning only YOU can see the models/announcers etc.
btw tried the Pyro model from the bewb squad in a (MM) game and everything seemed fine :D
edit: tried them again in practice, and except moonfag, pyro glac and succ don't get effects when i give them SotM.
After checking the .entities, shouldn't they have the SotM upgrade modifier too?

A few of the alt. hero models (for me at least) do no have unit response sounds/attack response sounds and afaik only spell-casting sounds (like HAA!) and the like.
The few I've noticed are MQ, Glacius, and Succ. I think Soul Stealer might have something too.

I'm well aware of the fact that they dont consider using these files an offence, my point was that I think they should since they'll lose money if they dont.

If you just spawn heroes in practice mode, you won't hear all the sounds.
In normal games it works fine.
I was going to make the flint skin but it's too much work and i got bored. (new sounds and effects for abilities)
It's not hard, it just needs time.
If you get on it Awan`Afuqya, include the alt sound from WS's 4th ability as well. (the sounds are easy anyway. Also the "fix" from my earlier post)

You got a point with the SOTM-effects, I saw that modifier but I chose the easy way and just pointed towards the "alt/model.mdf" (where all that stuff is saved for the alt model).
This SHOULD include the new sounds but I checked -> it doesn't.
I'm lazy so I (or you) try to find an easy way without adding *.oggs.
If you want a model badly you can make an *.s2z and overwrite the folders with the stuff of the alt-folder. I prefer a .txt mod tbh.
(wouldn't work without editing files)

I won't rush it though, gotta enjoy christmas and the new patch first :p!

Edit: OK, I got it... gotta add a lot of ../ into the entities (txt) and double-check every hero.
The Non-Alt stuff will work without altering anything. Bah, not today :p.

I don't know about the female pyro either but I suppose it is a little better than the male version.

S2 will lose NO money from these mods. Sure, I can hear Flamboyant client side, but the point of it is to ANNOY the enemy team. Pudding Announcer for myself yay.(will probably buy Flamboyant when I MMgrind it).
Still considering buying some of the cooler hero models that will be made later so I can show off my epeen :P

One question you no add, remove or overwide files in HoN directory right?
But lets try this:
Open the HoN manager unapply all the mods and delete the "HoN is serious business!" modlist.
Downloads this file http://bit.ly/gcpRUr (this is the Awan`Afuqya mod in the first page).
Apply only HoN is serious business! mod, test with one replays and see if work fine.
If not sent one screen you modmanager lets see yours mods.

I know . I'll wait for a patch to figure that out... A known bug is that female_pyro doesn't get the SOTM effects. I think I'll figure it out comparing this HoN_version with the next. Just gimme some time ^^!

Didn't notice it so far but if you're right I know whats causing this. The alt_model.mdf is different compared to the defaul_model.mdf. I don't want to compare both and add the missing parts because this is exhausting work.

Yes, this "mod" overwrites ALL models with the models you chose.
You can make a personal selection yourself. Use "All Alternative Avatars" & "No Alternative Avatars".

Summary
I changed the DL link at some point. If you get "update failed" you have to redownload it. One of the first drafts had a buggy Pimp Slayer in it @Dark_Kratos.
female_pyro, female_glacius, succubus, moonqueen don't have SOTM effects at this point. Please wait for the next patch and give me some time to figure it out.
christmas_treant has no walking animation, which is odd. I compared it with christmas_deadwood and can't see any difference. Again, wait for a patch.
Maliken is hardcoded now. I removed him but you guys didn't get the update -> please redownload the mod.

I have the old polly model and the old Dark lady (i found the files), is gonna be good have some menu to make selection multi models ( 3 polly types).

Do you have resources***.s2z files (NOT resources0.s2z!) in your Heroes of Newerth/game folder?
Remove them.
You know that you don't have to extract anything. Just drag 'n' drop the file into the HoN_ModManager and apply + enable.
Just read the damn FAQ! (you don't have file extensions like mod.xml)

Tried it and failed ^^ (/modifier, again). I could send a PM to S2 and ask for some advise. I'm really interested in this. We could make a huge alt_model mod including all the wonderful custom_heroes, with the permission of the authors, ofc.
Including hero models is an easy task, I can put the Hydraslik in if you guys want it. Gotta ask BlacRyu first :p

By looking at the 2nd image I already know that you didn't read the ****ing FAQ.
- no file extensions
- you downloaded the mod with the IE or GC
The HoN ModMan doesn't recognize the .honmod I want to add. It's not in the list! (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=112409#ZippedyHonMods)

Edit2: If you delete the entities and overwrite it with blank (= nothing in it) files you get teapots.

include = incluir (instead of the default_model you get the alt_avatar)
exclude = excluir (every alt_avatar is replaced by the default_model)
It's working as intended.
If you want ALL models, use "All Alternative Avatars" (1st page, Other Choices)

Flint and Dampeer are already in "All Alternative Avatars".
I "rewrote" Srs Bsns with <editfile> instead of <copyfile> so that changing values in the entity doesn't bother me anymore ;).
I'll do the same with the rest of the stuff when I got time.
+ It's easier for you guys to edit the file(s) yourself.
The issue with SOTM remains, I didn't find a way to solve this (yet).
One strange thing though. Deadwood has a walking animation, KotF doesn't.
If you look at the hero.entity they both have a -> passiveeffect="effects/body.effect" <- but there is no file anywhere with that name. Pyro as an example has one.
It's a bit odd ;)
Oh, by the way... is Arachna supposed to be THAT big? This model is really ugly.

It's dead easy to make one for a hero that includes alternate textures only.
I made a .s2z for you (place it in "Heroes of Newerth\game" folder). Just delete it when Awan' includes it in his next mod update.

I believe this is a "bug". -> cast.ogg <- should be -> cast2.ogg. <-
The sound file should only play if you finish off an enemy, not every time you land a "special" hit.
I'll open a bug report.
Edit1: Done (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=206655). This sound will work correctly after the next patch ;) (If I'm right).
Edit2: I believe found the SOTM effect. It's called modifier key="ult_boost" (modifier key="Frost" is Frostwolf Skull) which can be found in ability_04/ability.entity.
The funny thing is that it should work without editing anything.
I opened a couple of practice games and the only SOTM effect I could see (note: tested with a fresh install, no mods) was Thunderbringer and Magmus (default).
Either all SOTM effects don't work in practice mode or I'm blind. Well, I'll pay attention in a real game then ;>.

I don't want to add the models in Srs Bsns because as beautiful as they are... they are not "serious" ;).

This is no SOTM effect, it's enhanced electrician effects by BlacRyu. (:elec: Enhanced Electrician Effects by BlacRyu (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=72123))
If I do that you can't use AOE Range Indicators by He anymore because both mods use a modified effects/body.effect. I sent He a PM, maybe he got an idea ;).

Due to popular demand dev is "Zerg Hybrid Devourer" (by BlacRyu) now.
But you can easily change it back using Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download) and WinRAR.
The lines are still there, just put the Hybrid in <--! --> and remove <--! --> for the Clown Devourer.
It's client-sided, you can only have one forced model at a time.
Btw. I added every hero, just remove the <--! --> after a patch.
And I "tweaked" Capatin Flint (with <editfile>), the bug is confirmed. Should be fixed within the next patch(es).

I'll quote Notausgang -> not a dropbox problem. (The file has ~27MiB)
Currently it refuses to download mod files larger than 25 MiB.
Is there actually a mod getting close to that now?
I could split the custom models and give them to you as .honmods.
This would interfere with my plan though: A massive mod using MOF and pull-down menus.
I'd like to have everything in one file because it'd be easier to code overwriting the default (or alt) models. Don't know if it's possible, I failed miserably so far :D.

I think you didn't understand me ;). The "custom models" are made by the talented users here, like BlacRyu and Yuichi. These files have to be included in the .honmod if you want to use them, thus increasing the file size.
S2's models a.k.a alternative avatars don't use any space and are already in the client. The .honmod just alters the folder path to the new alternative model, hardly increasing the file size (just a .txt).
Again, I plan on using the best custom models and packing them together while you guys use a pull-down menu to enable either dynamic, alternatice or the available custom models. Still, I don't know if it's possible.
For now, I deleted CloudWatcher and Enhanced Electrician Effects to decrease the file size under 25MiB -> the auto-update should work again.

Just open the hero.entity (or pollywog.entity) in resources0.s2z/heroes/<heroname> and look for altavatar="true". You'll find the information you need in this file.

Your spamming pisses me off bro, either learn to be patient or do it yourself.
The minute I saw the patch the model was in. Updating all mods took less then 5 minutes -> deleting <--! --> and double checking the resources0.s2z file doesn't take long.
The reasons you didn't get it via auto-update are:
1) The file is > 25 MiB and the ModManager doesn't support that (yet). I didn't know that. I decreased the file <25MiB (post above)
2) Dropbox problems. Click on the link several times and you should get it. Or be patient and wait until the dropbox crew fixes it.

XplittR's app is superior, no need to have both (It's literally the same code).
I asked around if a MOF mod is possible, apparently it isn't (or not easy without an additional texture-mod). + the ModManger doesn't support >25MB mods.
I'll continue my mod though and might add some custom models. (Again, this mod is just for me and a couple of friends ;))

already tried cummsengs disable alternative announcer mod and it seems to work great, as i never heard a different announcer for a few games now. same thing for annoying stuff like the scorpion magmus or clown devourer would be awesome.

It includes a lower volume gunsound provided by bangerz.
The text texture is correct but apparently the bullet holes are smaller in scale as someone pointed out.
Should be easy to change i guess on the "material" files if you wish.
Update: I increased the volume of the gunsounds a bit (still lower than the original). Replaced flamboyant pack from others to this one.

Can anyone confirm if there is a double tap animation @ badass pack? I don't see any on preview and it doesn't show in -game as well. (edit: no there is not)

Thank you but I'm far from beeing a "modder" :D Bangerz, Quzzap, xHomicide etc. deserve that title... I merely know how to comb through entity files but I wouldn't call that modding.
It's sad that XplittR doesn't continue his app, he saved me a lot of time ;).
I only had to look at the stuff I'm interested in not the whole hero.
I have no idea how to handle his app and tbh I don't wanna deal with these "giev hero model nao" dudes again. Every week another hero is enough :P
Gotta fix some stuff anyway:
1) Clown Devourer (purchased) is HUUUUUUUGE and willl get even bigger using his ultimate
2) Kotfs winter alt still walks funny, don't know how to fix that
3) Rampage Rainbows alt still has the rainbow, I though I'd make it simple and just ignored some files but I have to include them as it seems.

I lose time, S2 loses money and ppl like you will never be satisfied if you don't get your pretty little model the minute the patch is out.

I have to agree with you. I think that now the Alt Avatars are out and Alt Annoucers, and we have a store for that, and an easy way to get those coins, people should try to get them and buy. That's the point, to have fun and customizing your game. Let the mods change where S2 doesn't.

not in desperate need, and im sure i just missed were it was stated before,
but can someone tell me or direct me to the post that states how to disable some of the heroes? because i looked through the posts and all i could see was to open in winrar/zip program and take out the heroes you didnt want. however when i opened it as such, it only showed like 3-4 heroes.

I guess you're used to .s2z, these 4 heroes are "extra stuff" I included because I liked it.
Open the .xml in the main folder and you'll get what I mean.
I deleted all unused code though, you have to do it yourself.
I'm not interested in every hero (all alt, no alt) and add those I like.

Yes, Rean is doing a wonderful job!
His models are *.s2z and should work on their own without a change on my end.
If they don't you can use Sato's app and leave the models on dynamic (=default).

Mmh, good question. The only thing a model mod does is to alter the path for the hero in the entity. Meaning... I tell the HoN.exe to use the alt model instead of the normal model.
If you get a fps drop you should have it with the purchased model too. Don't quote me on that though... If I **** something up in the entity it could result in a fps drop.
I try not to ;).
PS: This forum is so slow, I can make myself a coffee and the page is still on "save changes". Horrible.

i am currently using the ms pudding announcer mod, but i cant see the text in red when kills or other stuff occurs.. like blood lust and so on, but the announcer is working!!!

Strange, works on my end.
Maybe another (.s2z) announcer is somewhere in your /game folder and messing with it. Could be a (game-)bug too, I don't know.

You're using a low resolution... guess I made a mistake here. Could you test the announcer in a real game, practice mode can be flawed sometimes.
