View Full Version : [Reboots/Shutdowns] Unknown entity type, unread bits, crashes, etc.

Ok so, here's my config:

Motherboard: MSI 770-C45
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 925
RAM: 2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz
VGA: ATI Radeon HD5670
HDD: Samsung HD502HJ
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit with all of the latest patches.

I have installed all of the latest drivers for my motherboard, from the MSI site, and all of the latest stuff for my VGA from the AMD site, and I have also installed the latest DirectX via the webinstaller.

But I always get the unread bits, unknown entity type errors (usually 2-3 times per game), then I need to quit the game, and log-in again, so I can choose the reconnect option.

Tha game is unenjoyable.

I thought that after HON 2.0 I won't have any of these, but the problems remains. Plus, my game often crashes randomly without any notification.

Here are my latest console logs:

You can download the file using this link: http://tools.heroesofnewerth.com/view.php?key=5e6d0adb3a9b9ec9&action=download.
You can view the file using this link: http://tools.heroesofnewerth.com/view.php?key=5e6d0adb3a9b9ec9&action=view.

You can view the file using this link: http://tools.heroesofnewerth.com/view.php?key=64081f2243d2d58d&action=view.

And please don't ask from me as a possible solution for my problem to lower my graphics settins, and turn everything off. I didn't buy this computer to play a game on minimum, with everything off. This is NOT a solution.

Thanks in advice,
Daniel

Have you tried doing http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/wiki/index.php/Complete_Reinstall?

This is a problem with either not receiving the data correctly (packet corruption) or HoN not recognizing the data (corrupt resources0 files).

In the console (ctrl+f8), could you run "validateresources0" (no quotes) and tell me if there are any errors?

Of course. My first thing was that I uninstall the whole game, delete everything, then reinstall it with the new 2.0 installer.

When should I open the console and write that "validateresources0"? In-game, or in the main menu?

IAmRoot

It doesn't matter where you run validateresources0. Did you delete the my documents\heroes of newerth folder, too?

Yes, I did it.

I run that validateresources0 thing, and that's what I got (in the attachment)

I run the ping test on the server "173.193.201.231" and I got this:

Ping statistics for 173.193.201.231:
Packets: Sent = 500, Received = 500, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

What now?

Could you zip and upload your crash dumps to tools.heroesofnewerth.com. I believe you have to zip them individually.

Sorry, I was confusing them with hard crashes. Don't get these issues too often.

Could you take a screenshot (f5) of your console (ctrl+f8)? I think I might know what line is associated with the errors you're getting, but I want to be sure. There's a lot of lines that look bad in console.logs, but are actually ok.

I can confirm the range mods are causing unread bit errors - they did this in beta as well and then the creators fix the mod.

I will post immediately, when I get the erros again. (I hope I won't)

These issues are due mainly to file corruption issues. It may have been something wrong with the patch file downloads, I'm not sure.

OK, here's what I did:

I run a full scandisk to my hard drive, it didn't find any errors.
I installed the Hard Disk Sentinel app, run all the available tests, and it said, that my hard drive is 100%, with no errors.
I download the latest game installer, I renstalled it to a different directory, without any mods, but I still got these errors.

What should I do?

Sorry, but I won't turn off my virus protection, especially won't do it while I'm playing online. And I'm 100% sure, that I'm not the only one who use this anti-virus software, and I also 100% sure, that the hundreds (or maybe thousands) who use this anti-virus software, don't get these problems.
So, the max. I can do it, I make an exception to my anti-virus software to leave the HoN files (in the program files directory, and in the documents directory too), so it won't interfere.
But please start thinking about this problem, and tell me the informations what you need to help, because I'm sure, that I'll get these problems within a few days (even if I do that 'make exception' thing).

Quite a few applications will ask you to disable your A/V while installing and upgrading, its common practice. A/V and nasty little programs that can do very unexpected things to binary files

A while back Norton flag HoN updater as a virus.
Before that McAfee flag a crucial file of windows as a virus (resulting in broken windows requiring re-installation)

unfortunety "turned off" doesnt universely mean disabled. quite a few a/v and fw hook into the sysytem (comodo is an example of this, more and more are doing this).

really need the a/v disabled whileonstalling and patching. during play doesnt help

Naib
12-26-2010, 09:50 AM
it might be worth a working windows install of HoN being tar'ed up and then unrolled on machine experiencing this. this will help narrow down if it is the a/v messing with patching

have you tried uninstalling, competly deleting the remaing folder, removing the hon folder in mydocuments, download a more recent installer and try from that

#1. If I disable all of my mods, I still got this error = I got these errors NOT BECASUE of mods, so I continued it using.
#2. I reinstalled the game in the last week about 4-5 times, so I won't do it again. After uninstall, before reinstall, I deleted the folders in program files directory and in documents directory. As I also already told you....

OK, once again.
I got these errors since 2 months ago. I have these errors about 100-150 times (maybe more), usually once or twice per game. And maybe you understand that I don't have 150+ console logs updated with more then 300 screenshots.
When IAmRoot first ask that I should try to play the game without any mods, I disabled all of the mods, and play the game. But with the game mods disabled (and the mods directory completely deleted), I still got these errors. So after that IAmRoot asked that I should try to reinstall the game to an other directory. I did. Firstly uninstalled the game, then deleted the program files directory, and the directory in the documents folder, then reinstalled to a whole new path. Then after that I still got these errors.
So, in this case, I start to use the mods again, because either way, if I use, or if I don't I got these errors...
Is that clear now? But just for your happiness, if you want I can make screenshots, and upload the console log with disabled mods and still errors, just to belive...

Just read back, I insert log files with screenshots where I didn't use any mods. I got that error, READ BACK (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showpost.php?p=12818540&postcount=42). So I will use mods, because if I use, or if i don't I'll get that error. Got it?
Then you ask to lower my graphics settings, I did, still error.

Tell me if you have NO IDEA what is the error source, so I will ask a refound from your game because it's unplayable, unejoyable, etc...

Or start to think about a REAL solution and don't ask the same steps over and over again, if I did once, and it didn't help...

And I WILL BUMP if I have no answer more then 1-2 weeks.......
