Hero creativity

Hey!

I was discussing the hero pool the other day with a friend of mine, regarding the creativity. While we love them, some of the heroes abilities seem very much alike, and we came to talk about some great AoS's in WC3 custom maps.

I don't know if anyone remembers these particular 2 aos's but they could in my mind be a GREAT source of inspiration for you hero makers.

The first one is Advent of the Zenith (AotZ). I remember when i played this the first time in Warcraft , i was severely shocked by how elegant it was made. The heroes had very nice diversity. Ofc. the pool wasn't that big compared to hon, but it is imo. a very nice map to look at!

The second is Age of Myths (aom) which i also played on a regular basis which also had very unique heroes.

Ooooh **** ! NOW that's proper hero designing !

I always considered DotA hero concepts to be severely overrated. Some of them are actually beyond bad. Where can I get a full list of these AotZ heroes ? I'm about to start reworking (slightly or not) most HoN heroes and taking inspiration there sounds like a very good help to me.

I remember some really cool heroes being in Eve of the Apocalypse. Their skill build mechanics were a bit different though.

You should just download the map and tried it in warcraftt, it's funneh :P, dont think there is a list, you have to lurk the forums

Tides of Blood, Age of Myths, Land of Legends, Aeon of Six Gods, Hand of Sorrow Knight, Eye of the Apocalypse. I've played more, but I can't remember their names. D:

Would have if I actually still had WC3 around. Oh well, nevermind, there's lots of inspiration out there.

By the way, since you're somehow focused on hero creativity, I'd direct you to my signature. As of now, there are only two heroes covered and the changes are more about improving thir consistency but that will get more interesting soon with the next one. I'd appreciate some feedback there if you got time.
