View Full Version : The Story Behind ICE at DYA
A few people been asking me what when down with ICE at DYA and how we managed to get a ringer and what not so I'd thought I'd lay it all down...
So we won CAL and things going pretty good and we decided to bring Ensoe, JoshP, Swindlemelonzz, Tehgosu_, and me. Everythings going all good and about a day before were about to leave we call up Ensoe just to check up on him and he tells us that hes decided that he does not want to go. So I start asking everyone if they'd be down to fly to Singapore on their own dime and us reimburse them with our prize money. So I finally got around to asking Brized, who I recently just started pubbing with and dabbling in the idea of remaking ICE under his leadership and by this time it is like 3am(EST) the day of our flights and after much nagging i convinced him to pay for his own ticket. After much searching i finally find a flight thats 1,000$(most were like 1,700$), however by the time i get to booking it, i get and error message telling me that you are not allowed to book a flight less then 24hours in advanced. So i stay up all night and i finally find a flight for 1,100$ at like noon (its now 7am EST), I call up Brized like 6-7 times and finally get him to pick up his phone and tell him i got him a cheap ticket he packs super quickly and heads to the airport. Then on my way to the airport (11am EST, 6am Hawaii time) JoshP calls me tells me hes had a heart attack and hes missed his flight. So i don't sleep across my 22 hours of flights thinking were gunna be playing 4v5. When we get there we started spamming every forum trying to find some random pub 5th and maybe like 1-2hours before the tournament begins one of the asian teams their said they can call up a friend of theirs to come play with us. So we finally get to the event everyone agreeing to Brizeds leadership wit only 3 of having played with each other before, a 5th that barely speaks english, and a leader who plans to run some strats we've never practiced before =)...

So your ECG(Electrocardiogram) came back normal? Did they test for Coronary Disease? Did they give you a treadmill stress test or stress echocardiography?
Is it a sharp pain? Have you been tested for Diabetes? Parents experience any problems such as severe chest pain and/or high blood pressure? Any diabetics in your family? Anyone have heart attacks? Any of your parents or grandparents have heart bypass surgery?
Have you asked your doctor about blood thinners?
Try to be descriptive and I'll do what I can to help. Doesn't really sound like your doctor gave you any real information as to what is causing the chest problems. - What I mean is that hypertension is very vague. Diagnosing you with Propranolol will help relieve stress and calm you down greatly reducing any anxiety you may have, but it's also the main medication given to patients because hypertension can be cause by hundreds of things.

i've had 4 echo's done in the last year
multiple ECG's every doctor and emergency room visit
my sugar is perfect, i'm on a meal plan where i'm not eating much if any carbohydrates
i take 6g of fish oil a day, don't need blood thinners
i've done a treadmill test in the past, oddly enough zero chest pain
and yeah its a sharp pain, lasting usually 1-2 seconds, though rarely it will happen over 10+ seconds
the days i've gone to the ER is when it hurts for awhile , seeming synchronized to my heart beat

Ask your doctor about getting anti-inflammatory pain tablets. The variation between 1-2 seconds of sharp stabbing pain and a couple hrs of it might be Costochondritis. It's inflammation of the chest wall and the cartilage of where a rib connects to the sternum. Pain caused by it often mimic that of a heart attack.
Costochondritis is also known as Costosternal Syndrome. That's the best I can do without seeing bloodwork, ECG's, stress tests, etc..
In my opinion, ask your doctor about these 3 things:
1. Coronary Disease
2. Costochondritis / Costosternal Syndrome
3. Pheochromocytoma
Edit: If any of those 3, hope for #2. If none, consult another physician not related to the practice which your current doctor resides.

i was diagnosed with costochondritis in february, my doctor told me it would last a few weeks
it was 100% costo too because i had the pain when pressing on chest very badly and couldn't use weights at all
the pain when i push is gone but the random pain is still there..doctor said impossible for it to still be costo

Is the area around your breastbone swollen or tender?
What are you doing when the pain comes on? Anything specific?
I would still suggest seeing a physician from a different practice, and I would also look into being tested for diabetes.

I too have a similar story
A fellow employee once offered to board a group of us at his parents house Maui, 2 days before we are set to fly out nobody can get a hold of this kid, doesnt show up to work, doesnt answer the phone.
Finally 3 days after we were supposed to leave, he calls us and tells us he was in the hospital and had been in a car accident. Now I didn't call BS because I am a pretty humble person and I just wanted to make sure that my friend was ok. A couple of days later he shows us a picture of his totaled mini van, rough wreck. One of the less trusting people in this group proceeds to type Mini van wreck into google, and the picture was the first image.
TLDR;
Sucks if you had a heart attack for real, hope you get it resolved and get better
9/10 the person is full of ****, and if they are dedicated enough they will fabricate a lie to extreme ends

Because this explains why someone would deny an all expenses paid trip to Singapore.

took my doctor 3 visits (over a month) to ask all the questions you are asking
the pain is completely random and can happen at any time, area used to be very tender but it isn't any more

Yea our medical system is super ****ed up. They screw you over on co-pays as is.
Umm, does the pain worsen when you take a breath? When you breath in and out suddenly, do you feel/hear cracking or popping sensations in your chest?

no it does not
i do not think i am going to be diagnosed ever
i've changed my main doctor and have gone to a heart specialist
by the way thanks for trying to help....its quite sad that a random person over the internet cares more about helping me than a paid professional

I wish I could tell you what it is, but man it sounds like you've been through the ringer. I could name off a dozen things you could have, but the amount of $ it would cost you to be tested would be overwhelming(if it isn't already).
Pheochromocytoma is a rare diagnosis not many doctors will think about. It generally doesn't have to do with chest pains, more so abdominal pains, but it can cause severe sharp pains in the chest in some cases.
If you do want to get tested to find out what it all could be, here's a list of things to be tested for that you should give your doctor. It will be expensive though.
1. Angina
2. Aortic Dissection
3. Coronary Spasm
4. Paricarditis
5. Myocarditis
6. Esophageal Spasm
7. Hiatal Hernia
8. Fibromyalgia
9. Pulmonary Embolsim
10. Pleurisy
11. Diabetes

brized can you explain why ring of sorc is a good item on elec and the shittiest possible item ever imagined for every other hero no matter what circumstance or strat unless its level 1 5 man push? And even then, it's iffy?
I'm sure a lot of people are wondering and I just don't know man.

cost is lowered. it gives armor, mana, and mana regen. hopefully you can figure out why those attributes are good for elec.

Yeah he's always been getting RoS. Mana heal+armor+mana is achievable by a chalice+any other item ever that gives mana that builds into a "useful" item.
Does brized just not agree with the notion that RoS sucked/sucks? Or is it just especially useful on elec because of some secret thing I don't know about that makes chalice not good on him?
So confusing.

Could be the free 110 aoe mana... but it's most likely the combination of the extra 300 mana, allowing him to tank 400 more damage? If i'm not retarded.

Maybe i`m missing something but only other combo for him would be chalice+hotbl. But that costs like twice as much gold + doesn`t give more survivability + doesn`t give any team utility.
Imo if more heroes could use their mana pool as a "weapon" we would see more of RoS.
