Nome's Wisdom. Why? How?

Hi.
Something tells me that Nome's Wisdom is a good item but I just don't see it. I don't play a whole lot of support characters:deme::glac: though even when I do I don't really see a justification for the money spent on this item.
In light of this the question is; What is the strategy behind picking up a Nome's Wisdom? Is the heal really viable? Does the +1 mana regen actually mean that much?

Old Nome's Wisdom (same recipe, but the total cost was 2300)
+6 Strength
+6 Agility
+16 Intelligence
+10 Damage
+100% mana regeneration
Aura:
+1 mana/sec
+4 armor
Same old heal aura, minus the ability to buffer past max hp.

It was good.

the biggest strike against nome's wisdom is that its buildup is almost identical to Tablet of Command but less powerful.

Like everyone's saying, I'd much rather have Ring of the Teacher + Tablet of Command for 300 more gold.

It is a crap item after its nerf.
The mana regen 100% is HOT but now they removed it. -_-

I would like this item to expanded into maximising mana regen auras.
