HON vs LOL, My 2¢

So, I know this has been done before, but I just wanted to put in my 2¢ with out any of the flaming that is usually associated with League of legends. To start, LOL is not a bad game, not as good as HON but its not terrible. I tried it out myself becuase I wanted to know which of the two i should really spend my time playing. I wanted to know if i could convince my friends to shell out the extra $$ for a game when there is a free version available to them. My conclusion is, you get what you pay for. We all know that graphically, HON dominates. HON also offers more in variability. For example, the ability to deny creeps. The only thing i think HON could improve upon that LOL already does is adding skins so that we can make our characters look differnt. Besides that though, LOL does not do anything that HON does better. HON also has better players. In some ways it seems like LOL saying, "If you suck at dota and HON, you should come play LOL becuase there will be people here who are worse than you."

I would recommend trying out LOL, just for to figure out that you really aren't missing much. Also you will realize that skins do add a bit of humor to the game. If you are having trouble convincing your friends to stay away from lol, you should play a round or two and realize how much you(and your friends) arnt missing :) To sign up is free of course and once you realize what its like over there, you wont ever go back ;)

My good friend and i used to play Dota.
We saw someone play hon at a internet cafe (back in closed beta)

we were amazed by this wonder, what could it be, it looked like dota, only 1000x better.

We googled and found Heroes Of newerth.
We even got closed beta accounts!!
I was amazed by this game. it was like. over 9000 double rainbows.

BUT.. while we had been searching for hon, we also fell upon another dota like game.. called.. LoL...!

This LoL, had in some way attracted my friend, and he tried it. At that point, he was doomed. i tried it too, but i was still in love with my HoN.

Now, a year after, i still play HoN, i paid 30 $ for it, and im so satisfied. i jerk off to this game everynight, thats why im not 1800 yet.

My friend plays LoL, and we enjoy raging at eachothers game.
Most peoples main argument for playing LoL is that its free and has such a good community.
But.. i know the truth.

My friend has to this day, paid more than 50!!$..
Unlocking heroes, skins, special points, etc is costy! (unless u wanna save up points by playing a 1000 games)..

Those "nice guys" who made a game for free obv. screw'd all the LoL players big time deep in the ass, addicting them to a game, makeing them think that they're sooo generous -making a free game, but all along, RIOT(LoL) knew...

LoL players is dellusional.
They pay for a free game, wake up niggas yall dumb as hell like that guy who's snatchin your husband, or the downy baldheaded, red bearded guy who's in all the signatures.

money Argument is invalid

the 2nd argument LoL players have is that they have such a good community, but i say its boring.
Humans are not made, not to rage once a while.
That we're stuck with people who might rage a bit more than the average human is just badluck.

I like this community, i like the trolls, the wiseguys, the scouts, the codex 7 people, all of you all.
This forum cracks me up. This forum taught me "l2p" "u mad" "too bad its me" etc etc. i bet they dont have that over @LoL and i bet they are much jelly.

we have a community full of funny ass ****, and while there's alot of trolls, we still have clans like LN where people are dedicated to help eachother.
So in a way, we have it all.

I have tried both,

LoL works. It's not as strictly balanced, but the players know nothing about the heroes so that doesn't matter. The heroes i have played haven't been very synergetic. Sure there's heroes like that ball of fat on mecanical spiderlegs (not 100% sure of the name) witch pretty much require that you use some skills in succession. But there's no heroes that actually work well with the team as far as I know. From what i have seen they lack heroes like tempest, kotf and vindicator. (havn't see everyone, so I guess that's lol's fault) from what I have seen people pick by their own nose. Not by what the team needs.

HoN is superb. Balance is very serious stuff here, it's very well balanced in comparison to LoL. The heroes (I haven't played all LoL heroes) work well, there's very thought out strategies and people try to cooperate, sometimes atleast (alot more than in LoL).

Picked a guy with a sword.. didnt read the spells, bought a shield aaaaand went 15-0.

I was like wtf? and vowed to god I would never play the shitty game again.

I dislike F2P games for several reasons. The different business model forces different development. Since you can't sell the game itself, you have to come up with extra content to sell.

The boosts are standard, you have them in every F2P game, they don't do too much. In LoL you can buy champions and skins for these champions, you can also buy runepages. You can't directly buy runes. None of this directly imbalances the game, but it's not all bestsellers. Everything is a onetime buy and then you own it. This means that Riot has to constantly put out new content to earn their cash. Now how do they do this; they release a champion every two weeks.

I personally think that adding content at such speed makes the game hard to balance.

The balance is way different than HoN, almost everything stacks and scales, it's all balanced around numbers. On top of that, there are barel any stuns in the game, it's hard to actually die.

I was a hardcore DotA player, DotA was awesome and I played it daily. Then I heard about a new DotA game coming out. New engine, new system, new heroes, new items and I was like "TOTALLY AWESOME" and then I found out if was a F2P, "EVEN MORE AWESOME" then I played it for a while and I was like "meh" DotA was more balanced (and fun) It is fun to stomp n00b yes, but when you get GODLIKE in DotA its like a reward, in LoL its a given.

Then a friend of mine sent me an invite to a beta game, in the mail he said the game was a totally awesome new DotA based game, I told him there already was a thing like that, LoL. But, in the name of fair play (and cause I had a beta key) I tried it, first game I played was with my friend, but contrary to earlier experience I did not get instant annihilation. I was challenged, it turned out to be a close and interesting game barely saved by a pebbles with a PK.

After that game I was in love, only once did I go back to LoL, and after the intensity at HoN I got 2x annihilation before I got blood lust.....
Suffice to say, I never looked back.

If anyone wants to know the name of the guy who saved my soul, its Ripoff, awesome guy.
