Simple twist, you ban items rather then heroes.
-Whatever you ban effects both teams.
-You ban items after you pick heroes.
-You cannot ban supplies or boots.
-Each player can ban one item.
This would challenge players to instantly change their style of play, and forces you to try new item builds.

It'll be awesome if you can ban :WardOfRevelation::DustOfRevelation::BoundEye: then pick :scou::nigh::fayd:!
Bad idea.

Other team picks
:legi::devo::pest::krak::pebb::tund::dead::hamm::m agm::behe::temp:?
NO WORRIES JUST BAN PKEY.
Bad idea man ;) Items are fairly balanced, both teams can benifit from them and every item has a counter that you can pick up.

lol you could make certain heros no longer be useful at all.
Pkey would be banned everygame and make many early game gankers useless.
it would be quite funny tho.

Fear the wrath of sustained nuking.
You would need bans to be before hero selection for this to be remotely viable.

Might be interesting as a fun mode. I think that it would be necessary to leave the banned item in the game for recipes but just make it have no effect. Otherwise people would ban punch dagger and knock out 3 other items with it. Bans would obviously have to be before picking heros.
