freeze with IM and following friends

The following makes my game freeze repeatedly:

right after starting the game...

1. follow a friend who is online
2. start an IM conversation with him
3. type a message. If hes connecting to a game while I am typing, I get connected to the game hes joining and then the game freezes completly while loading the map and needs to be closed via the task manager.

Can anyone confirm this?

Confirmed.

But i didn't get a complete freeze, rather i just got stuck in the loading.
But once the guy i was following left the game and joined another it fixed itself.
