Talking in Lobby and Hero selection screen

Quick question, how do people talk in the lobby and the hero selection screen? My hotkey for the voice is "V" so when i try to talk all it does spams the chat with VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV.

Press ESC, it'll remove focus from the chat window.
