Hello Newerthians!

I figured I'd go ahead and post a convenience link to the new guide series being done by me and MsPudding. The guide series will continue to expand, covering more things and heroes.

http://www.youtube.com/user/S2Games

I'll try to keep this post updated, but incase I forget, always check the Youtube Channel for new guide videos!

Feel free to leave feedback on the videos in this thread, but please don't bother treading on things we missed on guides already done- keep criticism to things we can actually change in the future.

Can't help you guys improve with out treading on things you have already done unless you want to let us know in advance what you are going to do so we can spew facts at you :P

should have mentioned you can still eat corpses when you have full charges, if you move right next to a hero and face them when summoning minions you can get a full surround preventing them from being able to move, starting items are horrible never start with ring of the teacher you want to start with crushing claw + mark of the novice + runes of the blight + 1-2 potions (if only one potion then also get 2 minior totems) like you did for the side lane, spaming minions early on mid is bad just summon them to go deny the rune or scout for it other wise don't summon them, spawning minions and auto attacking the enemy hero is feeding them gold and xp, soloing kongor takes a while you are probably better of ganking, orb walking is the wrong term none of the minions have an orb.

random tips
using regurgitate while running away is a good way to heal your self
hell on newerth is flexible working as a nuke with a short cool down when you are ganking
creep waves heal you for 100-250 health depending on the level of corpses conversion
also you can bind all of your minions to a control group and have them still selected there each time they spawn.

When I was remarking about constructive criticism, I mostly meant format wise, not so much content wise. Content wise we are just going to have to do our best and try not to leave anything out, since we don't really reveal what guide we are working on next.

That said, constructive criticism might look something like this:
Audio is too quiet
Pudding's Voice is too sexy/not sexy enough
Videos are too short
Videos are too long
I would like to see a more detailed items/skill build part in future guides
etc etc

Audio louder
Puddings voice is the right amount of sexy
Videos are a good length
More details on how to abuse skills
More little tricks (eg: Regurgitating in base to get 6 corpses)

Amazing videos :D

I think it would be nice to see a guide on how to maneuver your fingers on keyboard and mouse to play the most efficiently. Like a split screen on how the hero moves and how the player moves irl.

I would like to know/see if a pro player uses a+left click only for denies, or for other attacks as well. And also how to easy focus different heroes in a team fight with auto attacks. I often seem to be doing something wrong because I can start attacking creeps in such situations, which is really frustrating.

TL;DR: djlasseman sucks at HoN...

How a player uses their fingers on the keyboard would be different for everyone. There is no correct way to do it.

That is probably true. But I think that pro players might have similar way of doing things. And I do not know which is best of a+left clicking on a hero (or nearby) to auto attack versus just right clicking them straight on. I find it hard in a team fight to focus the right hero with my lacking technique.

A lot of practice will surely help with figuring this out, but when you want to help new players become better faster this is one of the things that you could show.

I bound the space key to attack and use that when ever i want to focus some thing, kill a creep, or attack move. It definitely gives you more options and slightly more control.

Key board control while important is probably not the most critical thing for new players to learn.

It would be great if there was a short summary in the video description on build order and recommended items so I dont have to hunt around the video to find it. Also, there really wasn't much on what late game items to buy and when to pick balphagore.

Did I really just listen to a bkb suggestion on balphagore?

Maybe get a pro player to look over what you are suggesting, or go further and have them say something about the hero.

^This

A hero with a fire and forget ultimate and controllable minions has little need of a BKB.

Its not fire and forget its fire and you just won the game.

I think BKB is pretty good in some situations. If they have a plauge/magmus/tempest/behe team, BKB is gonna be pretty damn win on balph, so you don't get instagibbed by team ultimate.

IMO Pudding needs to sound more bloodthirsty. I can't take Hon players seriously unless I can picture them being serial killers. Would also help make atmosphere more enthusiastic. Voicing right now is kind of quiet and calm. Show more emotion!

We have pro players looking at what we are suggesting, don't worry.

BKB is a perfectly good item for Balphagore.

set attack to my 'back' button on my mouse. f-ing awesome. still don't use it all the time because i have it embeded in my brain to use the 'a' key.

I think it's better if you focus on gameplay guides, at least until you've covered laning, ganking, teamfighting, picking and the rest like warding, pushing, when to kongor and a new hero roles and properties guide.

I really think that hero guides should be made to wait (I liked your balphagore guide, it not that), it's just that hero guides becomes outdated very fast. Also, some players might think that this is the only way to play the hero, because S2 said so, which is another reason to not do hero guides.

However, I think general gameplay guides will improve to community quite a bit.

Nerf MsPuddings voice please.

Despite that I appreciate the Maliken guide very much, pub games needed that guide.
Interested though why geobane wasn't mentioned when it was changed to work with his ult some time ago.
I know it doesn't really synergize with the hero and all, but why was it changed then anyway?

+ The humorous tone of the videos exponentially increases in awesomeness. Keep it up you [S2]ers.
Appreciate your work and as always looking forward to see more random ownage.

trust me, these are probably one of the best things S2 has produced for new players.

Haters gonna hate. There was a lot of hate from haters from the Moraxus video, but the Maliken video for instance received mostly good votes.

In any case we're more concerned with views than votes. There's always going to be that group of people who hate our stuff just because it's not a game they play :(

I promise that your videos will get 2x more views and 2x less dislikes if you and ms.pudding "guides" together!

These guides are awesome and really do help. For the upcoming ones, I suggest they should be focused on the "pub" heroes that have a lot of potential but are almost always misused (FA, NH, Flint, Fayde etc). This is why the Maliken guide was mostly good votes, most likely. It was previously one of those heroes.

Dear Nigma, please voice the guides yourself or at least switch from time to time with her. MsPuddings voice is just... monotonous and (slightly) annoying. I agree with the others who state this, alternate with her (or just drop her, but that will make the boys unhappy) and the guides will recive more likes and views.
I had to force myself watching them, because the actual content is quite good.

I think you should remove the release information from future videos. Like, you'll put out a spotlight video Wednesday afternoon and then release on Friday... the "releases Friday" part is only relevant for less than two days while the video guide is useful so long as the hero isn't remade.

I don't like how newer heroes are getting the guides and established heroes are just sitting there. Maybe S2 should consider doing guides for lesser-used heroes like :tund::poll::madm::blac:, along those lines.

Martyr:
Intro is too long (~30 secs would be ideal)
Total video length is pretty much perfect
in my opinion a detailed item/skill build suggestion is a must for any hero (even supports)
[last clip should've maybe gotten some additional audio (funny fitting tune or normal honmusic)]

also a new spotlight on an already existing hero would be great now. especially if you chose one of your original (S2-)heroes or a new gameplay guide for the wave of new players.

Nice if you could make on the already existing Heroes, it's recently just been with the new heroes.

I know Nigma did solo some heroes (like scout) but it would be nice to have them remade and on S2games channel.

what i'd love nigma/ms pudding to do is put up a vid about maybe 10-15 min long about how pro players got to be pro and go into how we can learn from them and give us massive tips that pros use to become pro and give us lots of suggestions and stuff.:valk::)
This is out of the question but i'd just love to see the hero slark on dota on HoN that would be the best. Oh and Gj keep the good work going.
