Installing
To install, download the .s2z file into the games folder game/ folder. The default locations for these are:

Linux: /home/<username>/HoN/game/
Windows 7: C:\Program Files\Heroes of Newerth\game\
Windows Vista: C:\Program Files\Heroes of Newerth\game\
Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Heroes of Newerth\game\
Mac:
1. Press Finder
2. Press Applications
3. Right click 'Heroes of Newerth', and press Show containing files
4. Open Game folder
5. Move file here

Whats this mod about
Adds a button to allow for filtering for or against Brasil games.

Question Mark = All Games
Check = No Brasil Games
X = Brasil Games only

This works by scanning game name and filter games with "br" and "brasil" in them. (Yes games with brasil have br in them...)
Note: some games may be incorrectly filtered, but not many.
Also, hitting the button requires a full server refresh, because as far as i could tell filtering is a function, not scripting.

Just a thought: I'm in Australia, and the pings I SEE to servers on the list never go below 150, so filtering <30, <75 etc are not used. The striations I'd like to see would be <200, <250, <300, in order to help those of us overseas.

Ahh that sucks, I was wondering about this. I'll throw in < 300, the 200 and 250 are already there though.

Found the bug. It worked on mine. The problem was I had setsave variable before i added some more code. Fix coming as soon as I can fix.

Fixed, got banned from the chat servers for 10 minutes haha, too many logins. Be up in a few minutes as 1.2.

Well, no. The current one has no margin like all the other icons. My icon has been created to match the margin and the look of the other icons. But you are right, the difference is minor.

Go to your startup.cfg in My Docs/Hon/game folder and delete anything that has picklefish in it. It works for everyone else :/


EDIT: They fixed leaver % in this patch in the F6 menu. I will fix it asap.

Search the xml file "main_lobby" for brasil "br" etc and replace with what you want. flag is just an image. :/ replace brasil.tga with an aussie flag.

Yea :/ the filter code appears to be c code, so I can't refresh without full server refresh as I simply don't add them to the list of games.

this is quite a funny mod if u think about it. one contry singled out, but it's actually quite useful. so brasil is like the korea of starrcaft for hon eh? ^^

br definitely does lead to incorrect filters. like u can't name ur game "join brian" or "come brandon"

None of them are for Brazil though(since there is no Brazilian designated servers), so this mod would sitll be useful for that. I wish S2 would make your settings be remembered filter settings you close/open the gamealready though. :/

Well, as far as this being broken, it still manages to work for me with the latest patch, even if it isn't as intended.

I also know you're busy, picklefish! And I'm grateful for the mod so far! It's saved me lots of time looking through the game list. I do have a suggestion for another filter, if you get time. Not sure if it's possible, due to this... language thing that S2 uses. (XML for everything! Hooray!)-

If regexes are possible, what about a PSR filter? There have been rumblings about S2 fixing their level filter, but that's certainly not done yet. Being able to filter out [0-9]{4}\+ if your psr doesn't match the criteria would be great.

I've gotten as far as cracking open the mod.xml and figuring out how to add basic pattern matches, and I suppose I could hardcode it in as I rank up. But after looking in picklefish_stats.package and trying to follow the events path to avoid that, I was more lost than when I started.
I suppose I was taking the WoW API for granted before this <_<;

u can just use "sort by ping" even with the ping filter it still searched thru all the available games anyway.

What sucks is that this worked perfectly after the patch, but the moment I added a new mod and tried to "re-apply" them to the HoN Mod Manager, it broke.

If only I had known, I would have skimped out on the mods until we see a fix/replacement.

Wrong. The game list lists many GAMES on multiple servers. The game lobby is where you lock/switch etc. The main lobby is where you can create a game, and join games. Rooms is synonym for 'channel'.

Also, Fatal510 made the PSR Filter, not Darkager, so wrong once again. Darkager just plugged his mod into Fatal's to get those features in the Create Game panel.

Temragon was referring to "lobby" as the main lobby.

For now, this kind of mod isn't do-able. Regexes aren't directly possible yet.

But, you also answered my question, Max. I'm guessing they're using the language they are due to missing the major push towards xml+lua of late. Ah well, hopefully we'll get a real psr game setting soon. (Seeing as 70% of non-em games have a PSR limit set in the name)

Yes, what I'm looking for is the capability to filter based on GAME NAMES, currently (EG: SD 5v5 1500+), so that if my rating doesn't match the requirements, I don't see it.

The thing is, the rest of the name is already filterable due to it being a game setting (SD, 5v5). Rating still isn't; the utterly broken level thing is used instead.

If most of the hosts do this anyway, it should be a option.

Yeah, but what if you're under the limit? I know a lot of people are over, but a lot of people are under too, and there's no negative modifier in the search box. (wtb lua interface api, pst)

like someone already said the best thing u could do at this point is to configure the brazil mod to search for numbers. lots of details to iron out with that tho

A dev(probably was Idejder) has said they intend to add an option to game creation for PSR requirements(which will then mean they'll have to be displayed in the game list), don't worry. :)

"Region" filter and the position of main filters,
and it worked, for me.

Yes, and combined with the added regional filters(by server location) that's probably why there is a lack of interest in this mod.

I really wanted to know why american people use to be kinda xenophobics, and this doesn't seem to happen only on HoN. You blame us by "polluting" your servers, well, try to convince S2 to buy a South American server then. Unfortunately, US servers are the ones who gives us the lowest ping we can find on HoN - but I'd really prefer to play in EU servers, once they don't have that characteristic.

I have to agree with that. Actually, brazillians have a real bad social common sense. I can tell that by living in the very same country whose hated by lotsa people. And often you're right. In fact, they can't see which circunstances are being applied to a game and start to 'troll' it. Like, when you get ganked it's a very common thing get sweared and ****, being called a newb when you really didn't had anything to do.
When some of'em do that, just say: "cala a boca", or else "e ai, beleza?".
Both mean respectively "shut up" and something like "sup?"

Every time you have a BR on your team your winning chances significantly drop because of poor gameplay and communication. I don't mind there being BR servers on the list but I do mind have an idiot coming into a game being the only person that doesn't understand what's going on and ruining the game. I don't care if a BR person plays in a BR game but the fact that it's on the US server and some idiots who can't communicate with English that well join a non-BR game and ruin it.

Actually, you can still filter out all games with "Braz" on name by your own, that is exactly this mod does too.

I don't know any game which has banned BR gamers or discontinued services here; most failures we had in Brazil were from incompetent companies.
I'm talking about both failures from the start, like PPT (Pang Pang Terrible hosted by OnGame, crashed and bugged right from the beta), or lacks of administration like BR LUG games (RO, GrandChase etc).
I have played a good number of MMO and I don't remember any game ruined by brazilian guys; are you sure about that?

I do agree about hacks and I can't do a thing about it, but we do have serious and skilled people as well; its a shame that BR are known for hacking, but I've seen lots of hackers/exploiters from other countries...

Combat Arms discontinued service in Brazil. There's also a possibility that Nexon might follow suit with the rest of the games that they host.

The point is that this is a mod. Not the game. The mod's not going to ruin the game for you. The mod filters out BR games. Not the game. If the game did have filters then it would obviously filter out other regions, by title, by latency, etc.

S2 said it themselves, it's because the only servers they find are either resold Austin, Texas servers, or extremely overpriced servers with slow speeds (in Brazil). They aren't able to find suitable South American servers because of that.

@ Kaillarkz, If a mod ever gets too far, S2 can always ban it's use, remove it from the forums, find a way to block that kind of use in the game (with code), etc. This kind of thing is just searching for a piece of text, and if it's found, removes an entry. That's nothing that unbalances the game or gives an unfair advantage, so it's just fine as a mod.
