Currently in advanced options for creating games there are options for no str, no int, and no agi heroes.
It would be nice to expand on that would really like to see is a similar option but for no stealth heroes, I really am tired of having to completely change the way everyone plays just because one person went a stealth hero and personally I find games with stealth heroes in them far far less enjoyable.
Im sure lots of ppl have no problems with others going stealth heroes, for a noob like me though I just find most the time the matches are no fun even if the stealth hero is on my team as they tend to be less teamplay orientated.

So next we'd need a "no stun heroes" game, the "No crits"... splitting the heroes into int/str/agil is one thing, disallowing certain abilites from the game is another.
If you have problems with stealth heroes, pick a hero with a stealth counter (pesitlence/tree etc) or buy wards, dust, gem, necrobookLvL3 (don't know the hon name sorry)
There are a lot of counters to stealth heroes, and if you play game modes with out them you will never learn to counter them. It's like learning to drive an automatic car then everyone making manuals. You will be stuck in a niche game mode requirement because you refused to learn to counter what are actually quite weak heroes.
The only reason stealth heroes are doing so well right now is so few people counter them effectively or panic when they see them rarther then realising they are squishy :P

What im getting at you have to completely change the way you play and your build just because someone else went stealth. You dont really need to do that for any other heroes to the same degree.
to counter them you have to spend all this gold on items that don't last or are expensive and drop on death, also those items have no other use in general for improving your own hero and no of no benefit vs anything then a stealth hero. Ultimately slows me from progressing my item builds to the point im non stop buying dust and eyes and never being able to afford any other items.
At least if your getting magic armour or items to protect vs stuns or magic vs disabling or nuke heroes etc its usually helpful for more then one enemy.
For a noob like me it just puts me off the match completely and like i said... i have no fun in those matches. I dont have a problem with the other heroes at all... just stealth heroes, personally I think they are gutless. PPL can play the normal matches if they want but I would like the option is all. Or an improvement to some of the items as in if you buy an eye that it does more then just reveal stealth to justify the cost and the fact it drops on death.
Maybe rather then drop on death it loses charge and you need to recharge it for say 200 gold... which is reasonable.

While I agree, combating stealth heroes is a unique money sink in this game and your point about magic resistance/armour/dmg mitigation is very relevant (a point I was going to bring in my next post :P) you have to counter it with the fact that stealth heroes with out stealth are inherently weak and easy fodder for the most part.
The trick is to stop them ganking, in random public games with a team of unknowns this is very difficult, with a few friends who will call missing, purposely hunt and kill stealth heroes they quickly become totally ineffective. If you can put Night Hound down a couple of times pre-lvl6 and then a few more times pre 11 he's effectively out the game, as he wont have enough damage to even kill your int heroes before they either nuke him to death or back up arrives.
Stealth heroes force your side to play as a team, they can only "pick off" solo heroes usually; if your going around in 2s & 3s ganking, they will generally be forced into team fights where they are weaker.
HoN (DotA) is all about changing your playstyle to outplay your enemies. Although right now you dislike the playstyle a stealth hero forces you to use; it does show you understand and acknowledge that is the purpose of stealth.
In short my advise is find a few friends, learn to play together and stomp all the people who pick stealth heroes until they realise there's really very little point and there are much more useful heroes from a team and score perspective.
re: items level3 necrobook is my anti-stealth of choice, but at ~5350G it isn't cheap; getting a gem on a strong hero (even if you buy it and give it to them!) is one of the single best ways of just finishing a game with stealth heroes.

Best way to counter stealth heroes is to not present an easy opportunity for the lion to pick one off from the group. If you're low, hug a tower and heal. Buy some more hp (helpful no matter who you're against), and if you're a very "soft" hero then stick with a partner.
I know you admitted you're a noob, Octo, but stealth heroes really are "noob-slayers". It just takes people a bit longer to learn how to play against them. Don't worry, you'll get it soon enough!

True that, What Polaris Said.
If 1 guy dedicates to get wards or dusts in a push, you won't see any scout / Madman / NightHound around you for a while.
Back on the thread, I thing I'd really see implemented:
- Random Abilities. Every hero get random abilities. Great fun if you want to chill a bit and don't care about what is imba or not, I tell you!
