Newerth League?s kickoff tournament signups are now open. We expect spots to fill quickly, so have your team created ((http://newerthleague.com/register/team.php)) and registered ((http://newerthleague.com/register/teamEvent.php?id=1)) as soon as you can. Signups are on a first come basis for the first 24 teams!

Tournament Information:

Start Date: July 23rd, 2010
End Date: July 29th, 2010
Prize: $500 Winner Takes All ? Sponsored by S2 Games

Format:

- 24 Teams
- 6 randomized groups of 4 teams each. Round robin, Best-of-1 series
- Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the round of 16
- Third place from each group will form two groups of three teams. Round robin, Best-of-1 series
- Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the round of 16
- Round of 16 and quarter finals will be played in a Best-of-1 series
- Semi-finals and finals will be played in a Best-of-3 series

Additional Information:

All games will be played through NL?s system using Tournament Mode
A NL referee must be present in games taking place from the Round of 16 to the Finals
In the event of a tie during the group stage, the following steps will be taken to decide a winner:
- Higher team KDR of tournament games
- Head-to-head result
- Higher team ADR of tournament games
- Decision by a panel of NL staff

I don't like KDR being used as a tiebreaker... seems like it would encourage early conceding. It should at least be secondary to head-to-head result.

Team rosters on the NL site are not working. Is there anywhere we can find rosters for each team so I know who to contact?

You're allowed 8 players total to play. 5 starters and 3 backup. The rosters are determined by who plays in the first matches.

You need to have EVERYONE registered on NL before your first game.

According to registration you signed up in the #26 spot. So if 2 teams were to drop out you would take the second team's place.

You have to realize that signups filled extremely fast. 41 teams total signed up in the 2 days they were open.

Since I'm sure this issue is going to come up, I'll just get it out of the way:

What server are we going to use when playing vs EU clans? I'd classify my team as USC (most of our players live in Texas). Obviously we'd prefer a USE server and im sure any European team would prefer a EU server. Both options could be considered "Neutral"... How is this going to be resolved?

The most neutral server possible is chosen. Which would be USE. I know it's a little unfair for EU teams in this case since you're USC, but this is an online tournament so there will be distance issues. As well there are no servers available in the middle of the Atlantic :).

S2 is currently working on buying servers hosted in Atlantis to solve these EU vs NA disputes.

I play from california, and any EU server gives me 250+ ping. However, I've time and time again dealt with people telling me to "roll" when the rules didn't specify USE as the neutral server.

Yes, it puts EU at a disadvantage sometimes, but protects against the 300ping BS that teams can pull on USW teams and players.
