DOTA, the famous Creep Blocking, does not really work in HoN the creeps simply go around you and while running back they simply spread out to give you hugs and kissses :P asking for fix on creep block SO we are able to use this to our advantage during game

I'm with topbot on this. It was a great mechanic that could provide a nice advantage if done correctly. Many of the collisions in the game feel a bit strange. Heroes often get caught up on each other, but rarely ever caught up on creeps. Very unlike DotA.

Creep blocking was ban-able back in the day.

It would be nice to have the creep blocking like DotA had in HoN

lol, no one ever did though....
and you can still creep block, you just have to be really good at it. using a bigger hero doesnt hurt, either.

Wasn't exactly the most engaging and fantastic game mechanic. HoN could do without one-off silly minigames...
Might as well add in a game of poker while waiting to resurrect and if you win you get more money and a reduced resurrect time.

you can creep block just as good in HoN as DoTA, just practice. very do-able.

Try using Behemoth, he's awesome at creep blocking ;)

You can't creep block as much as you could in DotA. If you spam S, right clicks while swaying up & down (side to side) you can creep block pretty will.

The annoying thing is that it's really hard to creep block, but it's really hard to get around them. It's like creeps have priority over heroes in moment some how xD
Yea, pathing and units collision still needs a bit of work haha.

Does it even work anyways? lately ive been noticing it, and the creeps always ALWAYS meet in ONE spot, at top lane its at north corner (close to the tower) and bot its south close to tower. It doesnt matter if i /anyway block or not, to me it seems like the other team creeps go faster just to make it happen :D

Guys, how about the actual mechanics behind it? This isn't really the place to go "well I think this! but i'd prefer this!" :/

The creep pathing was changed over several patches, it's perfectly possible to creep block a full wave to an extent, but you can't simply stop them from moving like in DotA.

The mechanic comes down to how "fast" the pathing is. By pathing i mean the actual calculations made that decide what's the fastest way to reach a point, and by speed i mean how often the calculations are done. WC3 for example is an older game and to minimize the amount of data used, the pathing was set to a slower speed than we have in HoN. Some old Age of Empires 1 fans will remember that you could actually change the settings of how fast the pathing should be in order to reduce lags caused by slower connections.
As to how the blocking works, it's pretty simple: Every X milliseconds the a moving unit's path is calculated to make sure it's always taking the fastest path. When you stand in front after it has been given a path, you stop it from reaching the destination until it's given a new path. The new path will be to turn a few degrees and start to walk around your hero, and by doing very small adjustments you can force the calculations in your favor AKA blocking.
Compared to how blocking was done in wc3, you have to be much faster and make even tinier adjustments in order to effectively block someone.
