View Full Version : Shieldbreaker - Does the effect work on the first hit?

I was reading a scout guide which suggested getting shieldbreaker. The guide said that the shieldbreaker's effect would amplify the backstab damage. I found this interesting because that is not the way the mechanics of the stygian desolator work in DotA. So my question is, was the guide correct? On the first hit using shieldbreaker, is the damage calculated with the target's armor already reduced by shieldbreaker's effect?

Shield Breaker was changed recently so that the armor reduction effect takes place before the actual attack. So yes, the damage is calculated with the armor reduction

no it does not.
The patch notes says yes, but my experience is no.
Very easy to find out, just buy one, and attack a range creep. The first attack took 40% hp, the second attack took the creep down (which means it does more than 60% hp damage)... I;'ve tested this on like 10 ranged creeps, all the same results.

As Harrypotter said, the item still does NOT do what the patch says it does.
I'm 99.9999999% sure that Shieldbreaker still doesn't work as intended.

I made a post about this ... and actual testing says it doesn't effect before hand.
Still waiting for -6 like Syg Deso.

Agree, doesn't add debuff before the first hit. It's easy to see when attacking creeps. Second hit does always much more damage.

I can confirm this does not take effect on the first hit
