Q: How can I hide the GUI when watching a replay? (Please and thank you.)
F11 or F12. I forget, but it's one of these, I think F12.
How does one share the courier monkey? I bought one and my team got mad at me for not sharing him, (Im pretty noobie) so could I get a step by step explanation?
Thanks.
Look in the top left, there's a picture of your hero. In the bottom left there is a circular button. Click it once to share with your team. Done.

If I buy a sub account, do I get all of my shop items that I've bought on that account as well? (alt avatars, icons, etc)

Sub account shares coins and purchased items with your main and other subs branched off the same main.

Why do people say that Bloodhunter is such a bad hero? Yesterday I played against him and his 15 seconds silence just wrecked my team, so I assume he is the perfect counter for caster reliant setups, isnt he?

He's a single target hero with subpar attack DPS.
Sure, you can silence one person, but then you don't get that damage boost for yourself and are stuck doing 120 damage. He has no good farming mechanisms and his speed boost relies on the other team.
He gets stomped by proper lane counterpicks or a 2v1/2v2 setup and can be made useless relatively easily.

Should the carry or the support pull the lane?
Yukari

If the carry can farm alone without being bursted down, then the support should pull. Other wise the carry should pull while the support tries to get some table scraps or leech exp.

Wrong, it denies help.
If red, that ally can't use spells on you (Andromeda Swap, Pebbles Toss, Glacius Ice Imprisonment, Stormspirit, Tablet of Command, etc.).

Hello guys,
Firstly thanks for the effort you've put into this thread, I've learnt many useful tips by simply browsing it, which is always appreciated. My own questions however come from a slightly more technical side of things.. and may perplex even some of you, as my experienced Hon friend couldn't quite give me an answer to either of them. Its worth noting I've already checked the entire list of hotkeys for these answers, as well as browsed this forum a little, but had no luck in an answer.
1. I'm faced by this continuous issue that whilst typing - normally in a rush, always in game - I somehow enter a cinematic style mode with technical data displayed in white inside a small box. I've tried most everything, but can't work out what's causing it, or how to get out of it! most of the time I end up annoying my team by restarting the client mid-game, which always solves the problem, but is naturally only a short term solution.
2. Possibly a more annoying issue.. I'm wondering whats up with the move commands in this game. In other similar games, I'm used to clicking once and seeing my hero walk to the target specified, regardless of what happens along the way. In Hon, I can be clicking like mad, and my character will very often turn around and walk back towards the fight - normally whilst running away, which naturally leads to my unneeded death. This is naturally unacceptable, as its countered a direct command I've given and pretty much leaves me without control of my character. Said friend mentioned above said he thought it was just "how it worked" and that your character would sometimes automatically move towards near-by combat regardless of where you've sent it. But obviously this isn't really an acceptable answer, so I come to you seeking a solution!
3. My third, final, and probably most annoying issue; is that I will very often find my settings for displaying constant health bars switch to off. This can happen at load up of a new game, and I have even witnessed it happen mid-game. Again I checked for a hotkey, but found none I could have accidentally clicked. This is a weird one, and the most troubling, as I can't really last hit without seeing the targets health.. and it takes a little to reset it in the options - which I really don't have time for whilst in the lane.
Hope someone can help me with these! again cheers for your input.

I dont know answer for your 1st question, and all i can say about 2nd is to click your way to your destination (Click next to your hero, move camera, Click next to your hero etc).
For the 3rd, Display/Hide Health bars is by default bound on (') key. I don't know how, but i sometime manage to turn them off too. Just press ( ' ) and you're OK.

1. You probably hit one of the F# keys, (ie F7.) Just hit ESC and it should return to normal.
2. You need to grasp the concept of Hold (h key.) Heroes are automatically forced to attack anything near them if they are not given a command, hitting the H key makes them stop and do nothing, until the next command input
3. You hit the ' key accidentally. Hit it again and it should restore the hp bars.

I'm wondering, because I have received mixed answers from my friends ingame, but if you leave a stats game after 3 people have already left and completely disconnected, is your score in that game recorded and do you lose psr?
Also I am wondering if there is an ingame or on this site a ticket/support system (like the one in WoW) to dispute or ask about an issue.

Hi guys,
Thanks for your input, I have follow ups, so I'll just number them accordingly and reply per question as opposed to per person.
1. Thanks for this! I tried escape originally and it didn't work interestingly enough. However next time it happens I'll F11.
2. I think I may have worded this one badly, as I'm not sure any of you grasped what I was trying to say. Here is a little example:
- I click to move my character from point A to point B.
- Whilst moving from point A to point B, I will not click at all, as the command has been entered and he should move accordingly.
- If there is battling around, the character will quite often turn around and head back towards it -before- having reached point B, but after I gave the command to move. EG: Half-way through executing the A to B command, whilst having been given no other instructions.
This very clearly shouldn't happen at all, as it is the autoattack command superseding the control of my move. I simply wondered if it was known about, or if there was a macro to guarantee the competition of one command before an automatic reaction sets in.. but possibly not..
3. I tried the ' key - it tabbed me between my Currier and my champion. Not too sure why... but I found it in the hotkeys, so thanks for your help on at least locating it! I'll unbind it and hopefully not have the trouble of my health-bars vanishing mid-game again.

What are your opinions on the following heroes? :pand::keep::tund::krak::poll:
:pand: - A good anti-carry. He can lock down anyone through Shrunken Head as soon as he gets one of his own. Flick-->Stun is pretty strong in a trilane.
:keep: - Solo mid with an iron shield he can counter some ranged heroes like Soulstealer or Valkyrie very easily. Otherwise, he's kind of useless except occasionally as a babysitter for a ranged carry.
:tund: - A very good solo mid who can control the map and be everywhere with his pets ganking. He's probably one of the most mobile heroes in the game.
:krak: - Meh. He's not terrible, there are just better choices. His ultimate is annoying but not killer, same with his push which is usually hard to set up well.
:poll: - He's a strong pusher and a solid solo mid. As a babysitter, which is how most people use him, he's a lot weaker because his range is poor and he needs levels.

Her range buff recently made her a fairly good babysitter. She can almost infinitely harass, and can save the allied hero with a mesmerize. That's not to say she isn't better in other roles, but she certainly isn't a bad babysitter.
Myrmidon was designed to be a carry, but that doesn't mean that's what he does best. Engineer was originally designed to be a support/initiator, but until they nerfed his Turret he was the strongest carry in the game.

Well than, is there any key combination to move one item from stash to hero inventory?
What are some very strong duo lanes (whether it is carry + babysitter like :swif: :nymp: or a kill lane like :pyro: :magm:) that are used in higher psr consistently when there isn't a trilane going on?
Also, how useful is Gladiator once farmed? You use your combo in a team fight...then does he output enough damage to be considered a semi-carry/initiator?

Gladiator can be a devstating threat to a team if used correctly. Hitting at the correct angel with your whip can knock off some much needed HP of those squishies in the back. You can also lock down carries from going anywhere or even blinking away! I suggest watching some replays of Gladiator and reading a guide. He can be quite tricky at first and his skills seem to be pretty cut and dry, but they are not. If you learn how to use them skillfully you will notice a big improvement.

:myrm: + Anyone really. His range stun and low cooldowns make for him to be a great partner.
I also prefer :slit: + :flin: The double slow plus both dealing pretty consistent damage holds up for a lot of ez kills at the start and pretty safe farming from range distance. Slither's wards also help for vision and defending/pushing the tower.
Hi, I can't find an answer to my question, but here it is...
When I'm auto-attacking, I cant activate some items with hotkey - The ones that apply status to yourself like shrunken head.
I asked people and they said they don't use hotkey, they just mouseclick it. I find that painfully a drag.
So, what I do is click a distance next to my character, then use the hotkey for shrunken head. After my character reaches that point(does it shrunken head cancel movement?) the item activates.
This sucks because I sacrifice a melee hit to activate my item.
Is there some special way for characters to activate items without missing an auto-attack?
And another problem I'm having is when I click on a character, they character then gets fogged and I stop. Do I have to spam click instead of just aggro on them to chase them?
I want to be able to click on them and move to the edge of the fog instead of stopping abruptly. Because to get the shortest distance by foot between u and your target, u need to let the AI do its thing. So click on your enemy is the best way to close in instead of the ground. But if you click on your opponent JUST before they get into the fog, u will stop and not go to the area you clicked.

Its same by clicking the icon or activating via hotkey. If you dont want to miss an autoattack, activate shrunken right after an autoattack.

Not completely correct AFAIK. Certain items will reset your animation, others won't. If activation of an item disrupts channeling, it will reset your attack animation, otherwise it won't.
Off the top of my head, these items won't disrupt channeling
Void Talisman
Shrunken Head
Assassin's Shroud
There's quite a few more than those three.

Can someone give me some comprehensive jungling tips? I have always wanted to play a mean Tempest/Ophelia, but I don't even know where to start. Can someone give me some comprehensive jungling tips? I have always wanted to play a mean Tempest/Ophelia, but I don't even know where to start. Things such as random jungle spawns, starting items, etc. I originally came from league of legends 5 months ago, where it was all about a set path and little to no variables.
I don't know how to play Ophelia well, but Tempest is one of my best heroes. With Tempest, I buy a Courier, +3 STR, +3 INT, and 2 mana potions. I bring myself the last piece of Blood Chalice and a Health Potion (more efficient regen/cost) as soon as possible and afterward will courier a bottle to gank with. This will allow you to jungle essentially indefinitely... Ring of the Teacher is only good if you plan to be pushing towers, which you should, but you can pick it up later if no one else on your team has. You should be upgrading the courier and buying wards if necessary. After this, a Portal Key is really the only core item you'll need. After PK pick up boots: Tempest can utilize Plated Greaves (works on your Elementals), Steamboots (abuse with a Bottle), or Striders (Cheap mobility). Then, as long as wards are being kept up, work towards luxury items such as Shrunken Head, Nullstone, Void Talisman, or a Restoration Stone.
Now, as for jungling:
- First of all, when you pick a jungler your team has to be able to account for it. You need a hero that can solo mid and then another hero that can solo the defensive side lane 1v2 (usually someone ranged with an escape mechanism), plus a dual lane together.
- The two most important things to worry about when jungling are the timer at the top of your screen and whether all enemy heroes (especially those in the lane next to your jungle) are accounted for. You want to be an efficient jungler and getting killed is obviously detrimental to that goal.
- The first camps spawn at 0:30 and then at every minute (1:00, 2:00, etc.) afterward.
- Camps will not spawn if there is anything in the area (a hero, a ward, a creep, or a corpse). Because of this, don't kill creeps in the area after x:40, because then the next group won't spawn. Instead, draw them just slightly out of the area (but before they want to turn around) and kill them there. The next group will spawn right behind them.
- Stacking means to set up two sets of neutral creeps in the same camp, by drawing one out of the area just as the next one spawns. Multiple camps can be stacked at the same time. To stack, draw out camps around x:52, though there is a decent amount of wiggle room here.
- Pulling means to draw attention of a specific camp and lead those neutrals to intersect with your creep wave. This will help your side solo lane and give you some time for mana regeneration, if needed. You'll need to watch out for opponents coming to steal your pull, however. This should only be done after stacking the camp, otherwise it will push the lane and actually hurt your ally. Pull at about x:45.
- There are 2 hard camps, 2 medium camps, and 1 easy camp in each jungle. Minotaurs can spawn at either Medium or Hard, everything else is straightforward and pretty easy to learn. Some heroes like Legionnaire should kill easy camps at the start, but Ophelia and Tempest can handle anything right from level 1 with a bit of micro. To let yourself micro better with Tempest, pull each camp out just slightly before starting the fight, so your elementals can be run in any direction. That is reasonably important if you want to be an effective jungler.
As you get higher rated, you'll encounter more players who will screw up your routine by warding creep camps, by ganking, or by stealing neutrals. You'll also be expected to be more active ganking all lanes. Learning to adjust to these things and get the most out of them is what separates good junglers, the farming process is relatively very easy.
Replays:
24696280 - The first 12 minutes are a damned good guide to jungling.
35281080 - A pretty complete game, good ultimates and solid teamwork throughout.
I have a question about coins. I have 300 gold coins(from alienware and facebook) and i need another 50 to unlock account icon slot. Can the rest 50 be silver coins? I dont understand how coins work.
Yukari
04-27-2011, 09:29 AM
By buying something that is not exclusively sold in gold coins, you can spend a combination of both, so the answer is yes.
Thank you Yukari. One more question though. An account icon costs 100g. Can i buy that in 100 silver coins or is 1gold not equal to 1silver?
Yukari
04-27-2011, 09:42 AM
1 gold = 1 silver.
This is how buying things works. If the item is only purchasable with gold, you cannot use silver to substitute. Otherwise, it will first try to spend your silver coins. If you do not have enough, it will dip into gold coins.
Example: You have 200 gold coins and 59 silver coins, and you want to buy an icon.
The shop will spend your 59 silver coins, then 41 gold coins, leaving you with 259 gold coins and 0 silver.

Whats the default command for dis-assembling an item :S ending up selling an item one game...
Left-click the item while it is in your stash, no need to hold any keys.
How do I bind an item slot to a key?
Is there a mod available that shows me when a creep is low enough to be killed by my hero with one auto attack? (besides just clicking on the creep and watching its health)
What mods should I be using to improve over all gameplay and help me?

You can bind keys to items just like how you would do it normally. Option > Controls
Yes I believe there is
None, mods are a crutch during the learning process. Go vanilla mode.
I have been trying to play :hell: lately, but I honestly can't pick him up. I usually ult at good times, I micro Malphas decently, and I harass as hard as possible in the laning phase. You can't select them in the hero select screen but you can spawn them using the practice mode spawner, the names will have heroname.alt for most, some are .female or something similar.

He's a lane dominator and teamfighter. That makes him a good babysitter but he can also be a shut-down mid like Thunderbringer, if an enemy mid-carry (who is not Arachna or Predator) needs to be controlled. He's not a great ganker against good teams, but can do an okay job at it and is a very good tower diver. (Enemies hiding in juke spots? Just drop your Ultimate on the woods.) You do need to be wary of teleport assistance, though, which is where his slow speed bites him.
My side-lane build is generally:
1: DoT
2: Void
3: DoT
4: Void
5: Void
6: Ultimate
7: Void
8: Slow
9: DoT
10: DoT
11: Ultimate
12: Slow
13: Slow
14: Slow
In mid or tri-lanes, max DoT first instead. If you need a slow (Swiftblade lane mate) just skip a level of Life Void. Other good lane mates are Electrician, Predator, Maliken, Dampeer, Madman, Sand Wraith. Basically anyone with a magic damage nuke that will be amplified by Life Void. Paired with ranged heroes like Arachna, Forsaken Archer, Moon Queen, Flint can also be a near auto-win lane.
Items: :chal: :Steamboots: :PowerSupply: :BarbedArmor: (:MysticVestments:) :WardOfSight:
Get Blood Chalice as soon as possible, it combined with Life Void is unbelievably strong. Get a Bottle if you're mid and maybe skip Power Supply, otherwise just the above.
Get Steamboots, the extra 190 HP helps you survive burst and get off your Life Void-->Ultimate-->Fire Breath combo, which is a massive instant heal. You do NOT want to get stunlocked and killed before you can do this, this is the mark of a bad Hellbringer player.
Power Supply, same reason, the burst heal is huge and it's a cheap, very good item.
Mystic Vestments is a solid pick-up against magic damage heavy teams for the same reason. Hellbringer is a pretty good Barrier Idol holder if one of those would benefit your team.
Barbed Armor synergizes with Life Void ridiculously well. Say someone hits you for 100 damage when you have Life Void on them and Barbed Armor activated. They take 80 damage, which heals you for 40. In order to do 1000 damage and kill you, they have to deal 800 damage to themselves, AND in that time you've healed 400 damage, so they have to do a further 320 damage to themselves. To kill a 1000 HP Hellbringer with both activated, they take 1120 damage-- and that's assuming you and your teammates just stand there and do nothing.
While you're very good with this core, you're still a solid hero without it, so you should also be warding as needed.
After this it's very situational, generally you want to build to shut down whoever you can on the other team that's causing you problems. Sheep, Hellflower, Tablet of Command, Restoration Stone, Puzzlebox, Barrier Idol are all situationally powerful.
Replays:
Here's a good replay of mine where I go mid and shut down a Valkyrie pretty well. There are a lot of instant heal Life Void-->Ultimates, so you'll understand the power of those two spells in combination. I end up going semi-carry since it was a lower level game.
http://thisisnewerth.com/?m=34308530 Match 34308530 (http://replays.heroesofnewerth.com/match_replay.php?mid=34308530)

Fairly simple question, how do you avoid being killed by a Legionnaire? Out of all the champions in this game, he is the only one I've found can consistently kill reguardless of what you do as counter measures. It would seem his charge alone will often leave you under 20% health, and from there its an auto-attack away.. once he has his ult, luck won't even save you.
I've had this problem on pretty much every character I've ever played, except maybe Myrmidon for obvious reasons. Any idea of exactly how to defend yourself would be most appreciated.

A bug with Legionnaire currently causes his Charge to deal obscene amounts of damage. Simply wait for this to be fixed.

yes, in the 'Options -> Controls' you can find keybinding entries for that. I can't remember the exact name, but it is something like 'Activate Ability Secondary'. in any case, start a practice mode with Arachna/Vindi and find which keybinding entries are right. I did it that way myself.

Hi all,
I have 2 questions regarding puppet master (one is really about shroud)
1) If you puppet show an enemy and he starts attacking an enemy creep and then another enemy hero moves into the radius will the puppet show'd enemy now attack the other enemy hero or continue attack the enemy creep he started with
2) when using shroud can you ulti the enemy hero and then attack the puppet and get the bonus damage from the shroud? ...or is the bonus damage eliminated when you cast your ultimate (in which case it might be better to attack the hero first out of shroud and then ult and/or puppet show).
Thanks!

1) Once a puppet show target is chosen, the target will be the only target the hero will attack. If the target dies then puppet show ends.
2) You do get the extra shroud damage on your ult. In fact it transfer any damage it is dealt to its target before its death. This means you can have an ally pyro ultimate the puppet to multiply that damage also.

If you want to see the characters viable in competitive play, check out honcast.com - watch the VoDs, often the heroes regularly banned and picked up are seen as the superior heroes, with ones that make an appearance every now and then, and ones played only by a specific team to great effect (a good example of this is the old MSI lineup that brought Pandamonium into the limelight). Nearly all the heroes are good, it's just making sure you're doing the correct things and buying the correct items.

Start by binding stop or hold (your preference - i prefer stop it cancels everything, hold doens't cancel some spells iirc.) to spacebar.
Right click a creep, press stop quickly, repeat ad infinitum you are now animation cancelling.
Play valk (or anyone with a spell with a cast time) , press R, press stop quickly, repeat ad infinitum you are now animation cancelling.
Also, moving will cancel most animations (all attacks not all spells - torturers stun i think is an exmaple) :thun: has a huge swing, after his projectile leaves his staff, you can move and not wait for him to touch his toes with the staff.
Binding the stop command to SPACE rly seems nice. fast accessible for your thumb with your 4 other fingers on QWER.
Any more "control" tipps or adjustions you can make? Like are there any other key bindings which have proven to be a good help to your micro? Or a good scroll speed?
(I know, many might say, it's all a matter of taste, but why not take over systems which have proven themselves for some better players?)

Hey hey need help with playing support.. maybe a dumb question but here it is..
Firstly I find as i move higher up in MMR support heroes when played correctly can have a massive impact on a game.
Heres what im not sure about and.. say im babysitting the carry and im warding / denying / giving him all the farm.. and the other team begins ganking i tp to help in the battle etc.. The game then turns into the carry farming and me going with the team stopping ganks or ganking myself.. but im constantly buying wards, homecoming stones and health pot which means im getting my REAL item at least 30 - 40 mins into the game if it even lasts that long.
What im unsure about is where do i draw the line and say ok i need to farm as a support hero to get better support items and is that even better then saying No buying tps wards and health pots to always be able to help my team is more benificial in the early game then me rushing for my item..
Thoughts?

If you are the only pure support on your team, you need to put your team above everything else, including your own items. Buy courier, winged courier, wards, counterwards, dust, tps, pots, etc. before you buy even your little red boots.
With assists gold hopefully you'll be able to get striders, power supply, mystic vestments/bracer by 20-25 minutes.

When I hop into an enemy hero as Empath, and use Void Talisman / Shrunken Head, does it have any effect? What happens when I use a homecoming stone?
Void Talisman can't be used while As one is active, Shrunkenhead activates and applies magic immunity to empath, since you have invulnerability it effectively wastes the effect.
Trying to TP whil as one is active automatically ends As one and then channels the TP to the selected location.

I, on the other hand, always customize the controls in all games that I play. and it's an iterative process until I'm completely satisfied with everything. so it's really subjective, but as you seem interested, here is what I have atm:
MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON - select hero (double click to select and center)
WASD - camera movement with fastest scrolling speed set in options (I don't use mouse for camera movement)
123456 - use inventory slot 123456
Q - attack command (to deny)
ERFC - use ability 1234
alt + ERFC - toggle ability 1234 (for toggling orbs and abilities like Bubbles' Take Cover)
X - open and close the shop
TAB - select courier (but do not center it)
SPACE - stop and hold
T - hold
G - select and center next owned unit
V - next attack modifier
N - all chat
B - taunt
ENTER - team chat
ctrl + F1-F4 - (save) call selection 1234
considering I don't use B (taunt) and T (hold), I might again change my keybinds around.

@Yukari
See? There are people who use keys for camera movement, and IMO it's more efficient than using the mouse to move the camera.
ofc there are, especially those coming mostly from FPS games ;).
althought it's a matter of taste and habit, I think that technically speaking using the keys for camera movement should be a bit more efficient because in certain situations you do not have to move the mouse around to scroll the screen and then back to click the target. so with keys for camera you can be a bit faster and more precise when targeting the enemy with the mouse.
it'd be interesting to see some statistics about what percentage of people use mouse and what percentage use keys for camera movement. I guess that most use mouse.

Not sure if this is correct, but I remember reading you could change them in the options menu? Try that.

Nigma writes "Split" over the frostburn on some heroes, because as the game goes on you should disassemble it and use the firebrand to make geometre's bane, and the icebrand to make Frostwolf skull. On the heroes where it doesn't say split it just means keep it that way.
You can disassemble your items at base in your stash.

Hotkey your hero to 1, Courier to 5, Items to 234/SDF, Cancel and Hold to G/H.
Level up abilities to Alt+QWER.
If you're playing a hero with minions set control groups for F2-F4 and F1 is your hero by default.
Works well for me.
hey, in prodex sometimes it shows the frostburn split and sometimes normal whats the difference and how can we make it split/normal thanks in advance
Splitting the Frostburn turns it back into Icebrand/Firebrand. To do this, put it into your stash and left click it. You can then use those pieces to build Geometer's Bane or Frostwolf's Skull. On some heroes, keeping a plain Frostburn is best because they don't want Geometer's Bane or Frostwolf's Skull. Some heroes should split the Frostburn because those items are good for them.

How do you counter Armadon?
Eventually, how should you play against Arma?
I find that unless the other player doesn't level spines or something, I am never able to win a lane against armadon. Extremely tough to kill, high damage output (at least early/mid game) and slow (good for both ganking and escaping).
Yukari
05-20-2011, 03:28 PM
Against armadon, a mana battery/power supply is a MUST, and to cut down his damage, you should try to stay out of his spine AoE when you have spines charges stacked on you. If you can do those, you should be fine.
Error
05-20-2011, 03:33 PM
But you will most likely loose the lane. Not very heavily, but due to him being able to use spines pretty much all the time, you will have to stay very defensive, aka getting fewer creep kills.
Is there no way to outright win the lane against armadon? Provided that he doesn't suck completely arse

Do riftshards stack? If so then how, both citic and chance or?
They chance to proc will increase with diminishing returns.
If you have multiple max level riftshards the chance of proc can be worked out with this:
1-(0.8)^n with n being the number of riftshards.
1 Riftshard: 20% chance
2 Riftshard: 36% chance
3 Riftshard: 48.8% chance

bumping this cause its the last question in last page I dont want it to get forgotten.
Every hero starts with a differing amount of regular armour, but everyone starts with 5.5 base magic armour. Armour relies on the heroes "base armour" then grows with the Agility attribute (1 Agi = 0.14 armour), more base armour can be achieved through items.
In constrast, magic armour cannot be gained through agility, thus only items and skills affect it.

Obviously working out this formula in game is a bit crazy, but you can mouse-over your armour stat and it should show the amount of reduction.

Hold shift and click/hotkey the next skill you want to queue. This also works with movement (Hold shift and right click, creating marker flags that your hero/unit will run to).

Hey whats sr role?
Hey whats sr role?
:soulr:'s role is quite an ambiguous one, since its a combination of both semi-carry and support. Most choose to build him tankily because of his aura and low cooldown heal. Giving him a lot of tankability allows him to stay alive for the maximum period of time, dealing the maximum amount of damage with his aura (which scales very well into late game) and healing with his heal/nuke aoe.
He's not a ward-*****, but buying wards is still a possibility on him, since in the early game he doesn't need many items to be powerful. Try to keep your allies alive and use your ultimate more as a stun and hard nuke than a killing blow (unless you have to).
As far as items are concerned, Nomes Wisdom, Astrolobe, Armoured Greaves and Sacraficial Stone are all great pick ups. Remember, the longer you're alive the longer the enemy team are being damaged and your team are being healed.

hey thanks alot ur always very helpful
here is the new question: which of these cases result in +leave
1-I got kicked without being marked as afk
2-I got kicked after being marked as afk
3-I got kicked right after disconnectiing (without being marked as afk yet)
4-I got marked afk but my hero hasnt been terminated (the game finished with me marked afk)
5-I got marked as afk then my hero got terminated (same as 4)
also any other possiblities I havent thought of
It's as simple as, if you get team afk kicked (clicking the red cross next to your name after you are makred afk, takes 4 votes) then you get a leave. If you are kicked by the vote kick (click votes and then kick, takes 9 votes) then you don't get one. If your hero doesn't get terminated at all then you won't get a leave.

I thought any kick, AFK or full-game voted resulted in a leave, as well as disconnecting yourself? Also if you disconnect then the game is remade there is no leave % added.

a global (9 vote) vote kick does not result in a leave

I was also looking above, is it possible to disjoint Flint's Money Shot by teleporting to another location? Say, closer to him, to the side via Andro Ult? Could a Magebane blink 100 units to the left and avoid it?
I'm more along the lines of saying that you can, considering you can disjoint Gaunt's Ult, Pyro's Ult, Witch Ult, Swift Ult, etc. Feedback please?

Hi guys, I have a quick question about Ban Lists. Quite simply, how do they work?
I know they don't effect MM, and from what I've gathered they prevent players from joining your public games. However, what are the specifics of this? do you have to be hosting? does it count for any game your in? will the game simply not appear for them or will get receive a message of notification that they have been banned?
I've only recently discovered this particular tool (though from recent games have a funny feeling its going to become my best friend...).

Banlists work as such, they are a better notepad then they are an actual banlist.
Hosting public games will cause banlisted players to be unable to join.
Joining public games or matchmaking games with a banlisted players, there will be a note that comes up and it will say zxAFKxz is on your banlist. Reason: AFK.

That's incorrect. Banlisted players can join your public games.

You can disjoint any projectile other than Pryo's, witch's and plauge's ultimate, these three are non-disjointable.
Swift's doesn't use any projectiles however you can blink away and he wouldn't follow but if you only blink a few units he'll find you again.

The "banlist" is really more of a notification list, a user on your banlist can join any game you are in just as normal.
What the ban list does is when you are in a game with someone on it you will get a message appear which says "[username] is on your ban list. Reason: [reason you put when you added them to the banlist]."

With banlists, the easy way to add people (right clicking their name and add to banlist) isnt a good idea because you dont then record a reason. It is always better to type /banlist add playername reason eg
/banlist add dantastical just too sexy for his shirt
Then at least you know whether the person is a feeder, leaver, griefer etc and can plan accordingly.

what is the exact matchmaking formula ? does k/d/a play a role or is it just rating?
It's just rating, the exact formula for finding matching games is only known by S2.

What client-side security is there for HoN? If I used an external memory editor to change readonly cvars, could S2 detect it or is there some protection in place?

I believe it procs off of panda's ult, just because of the way it's coded. It should not proc off of other items and abilities, unless the abilities uses direct combat

So does miniaturize - if your :witc: is nearby when :silh: uses her ult, you drain one and mini the other and boom, completely countered.

how do u start a afk votekick?
A player has to be afk for a certain duration. Then, open the full scoreboard and click the red button to the right of their name.
Does Legionnare spin off physical abilities and items, such as Panda's ultimate or a hatchet throw?
Remember hatchet throw only works on creeps/neutrals though. It procs off of most/all physical damage I think, but would be wise to check on the mechanics forum for exact details.

afaik, Panda's ult is coded as auto-attacks so Legi should spin off them. Legi should not spin off spells that deal physical dmg or are of physical type though.

Rarely happens in AP because people who play AP don't give a ****. In SD/BD at 1700+ or so it gets somewhat common. In BP it's almost a given, and pretty much every 1800+ game has tri-lanes.

I play 99% -SD and i rarely see tri-lanes in 1800+ pubs (on another account...).
In -BP, however, trilanes are pretty standart.
I'm playing on EU servers btw, I think trilanes are a bit more common in US pubs.

Hi, I'm a fairly new player to HoN, and I've come across this "Backdooring"-thing a few times in a couple of games. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but "backdooring" is considered a bad tactic amongst many and that it ruins the game, and that the players should follow an ethic which goes something like "Thou shalt not backdoor thy enemy.", and now I wonder, What is backdooring, actually? And why aren't we allowed to do so if the game mechanics allow it to happen?
In a few games I've played, there has been a single carry-hero which destroyed all the towers in a lane, most bot or top-lane whilst the enemy heroes are on the other side of the map, without killing or focusing the creeps. In every game, it was called a "backdooring". But in every game I've played, after a succesfull ganking from either of the teams, the ganking heroes start focusing the tower, without killing the enemy teams creeps standing by the tower. This is not called backdooring.
What is the difference between these two? In neither of these situations are the creeps focused, only the tower, yet one of them is unsportsmanlike and the other one is fully acknowledged?
And why hasn't there come a solution to it? I have one: Make the creeps have an aura which makes towers and buildings invulnerable whilst the tower/building is in range of this aura. Isn't that a fair solution?
If TL;DR:
Backdooring, why do you hate it, and where's the limit when someone is backdooring and someone isn't?
Sincerely
New HoNplayer

Backdooring is fine, it's only bad players who really complain about it since it's so easy to counter (135g TP). Most of the time backdooring is when a really fed carry on the losing team sneaks around and tries to finish the enemy base before the enemy can push into theirs. The only real backdooring problem (which doesn't work any more) is Nymphora teleporting a few select heroes into the enemy base then having them all teleport out if necessary.
Basically ignore people who complain about it, its a valid tactic which rarely works, and is more like an all-for-nothing way to end a game.

Yes, you can make it with :Marchers::GlovesOfTheSwift: and any one of the three +6 stat items: :ApprenticesRobe::BolsteringArmband::Fleetfeet:
This means you can make :Steamboots: entirely from the outpost, just like :EnhancedMarchers:

Wait a second... in the first situation you described, is it just a single hero trading hits with the tower and killing it? Or is it a single hero pushing with his entire creepwave, and then he lets his creeps fight the enemy creeps while he takes out the tower? AFAIK taking out base towers without creep support is backdooring, but taking out lane towers without creep support isn't backdooring.
