As far as I know, there's magical, physical and true damage but I don't know about piercing, chaos, normal or siege in HoN.

But chaos could be true damage since both ignores defense.

All of these are all in HoN, including armor types and their reductions. We, however, are unable to see it.

chaos damage does NOT ignore defenses, it just doesnt get reduced by armor type, only by armor value.

Physical, Magical, True (Chaos), and Effect (debuffs) are the damage types in hon.

Chaos
Chaos attacks do full damage to all armor types.

I guess your right. Been a while since I've played wc3.

chaos =/= true damage.

true damage is something entirely different.

True damage ignores all defenses, magical or physical.

Regular attacks are reduced by armor type. this is why a range creep only does ~10 damage to you per hit even tho the attack value it has listed is around 30?

chaos damage ignores armor type, but still takes account armor values

eg

a hero with hero armor gets attacked by 3 things. lets assume he has 1 armor that gives 20% reduction for simplicity

attack one is a peircing attack that does 100 dmg

attack two is a chaos attack that does 100 dmg

attack three is a pure damage attack that does 100 dmg

attack one SHOULD do 80 damage, but because of the heros armor type, it will do around 40 (iirc)

attack two will do 80 damage, as armor is still taken into account

attack three will do 100 damage, as armor is bypassed.

this is why things like creeps dont do very much damage to heros by themselves.
this is also why things like warlocks old golem was very strong against buildings, because chaos damage wasnt reduced by armor type (fortified)
and also why things like omnis nuke hurt so much, because magic resistance doesnt help. (and enchantress's impetus)

i find it hard to believe that hon only uses those damage types. im almost certain that they still use things like pericing, they just dont list it.

True Damage works just like Chaos does, because Succubus's Heartache does not deal exactly 300 damage (i tested this on the blue werebeast in the easy creep camp) the damage was off by ~4.

Atleast thats the way i see it.

because creeps have magic resistance right.......

true damage isnt chaos.

its just not.

also.

chaos damage is a subclass of physical damage.

true damage is a class of its own.

chaos damage is reduced by armor values

there is no such thing as chaos magic damage

there is regular magic damage and true damage from spells. thats it.

no physical effects do pure damage, only orbs and things like impetus.

Lego is right. Stop arguing, True damage = Pure damage (Tinkers Rocket, Glaives of Wisdom, Impetus.)

Rhasta's wards deal piercing damage.
