Journeyman
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/unit_builder.jpg
Introduction
I decided Journeyman would be a better name than Builder, as that isn't what it would do.
My idea is complicated, to say the least, but it would be a good demonstration of the flexibility of the K2 engine.
I think it would be fun to play, too. Give me suggestions on damage/mana rates.
I'm not a very good HoN/DotA player, so I'm not very good at coming up with the numbers myself.
There was a previous post with a suggestion as to get the Builder character into the game here (http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=922).
Basic Idea / Lore
My idea is to make the Journeyman character a technology based character. His strength will be on the very low end of the scale, but he more than makes up for it with his ingenuity. The Journeyman uses the resources at his disposal to create terrifying weapons which will embolden his allies and from which his foes shall flee. His small size makes him slightly harder to hit and his lack of armor makes him quick on his feet. If the Journeyman is unlucky enough to be trapped in a melee, he is a metaphor for breakfast. This brave citizen of Newerth ventures forth from the lair in search of materials, glory, and riches.

Skills
Weapon Select
This skill will allow the Journeyman to use powerful ranged weapons instead of his hammer. This can be clicked multiple times to cycle through weapons. The ammunition is constructed with the second skill.
Level 1: Grenades
http://hellgate.incgamers.com/w/images/7/7f/Explosive_Grenade.png
The Journeyman learns how to construct grenades. These short range explosives are extremely effective against creeps, but their short range, combined with the Journeyman's low hitpoints makes him an easy target to gank. However, if left unchecked, a Journeyman armed with grenades will level very quickly. At higher levels, his increased agility allows him to throw his grenades farther.
Level 2: Scatter Gun
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/legionnaire_A2N.jpg
This large handheld cannon fires case shot against enemies, delivering a large spread of bullets with longer effective range than grenades. This weapon is ineffective against buildings.
Level 3: Light Repeater
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/savage_A2N.jpg
The Journeyman's light repeater is a less powerful version of the Savage's repeater. It delivers the same damage per time as the scatter gun at medium range, but is relatively accurate out to the edge of view.
Level 4: Rifle
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/builder_A2N.jpg
With the knowledge gained at level 4, the Journeyman learns finesse. The long range of the rifle, combined with high velocity and power of the projectile make the rifle a potent weapon in the hands of a master. In normal click-attack mode, the journeyman uses the bayonet to spear his opponents. However, when attack ('a') is pressed, the Journeyman kneels and he gets tunnel vision. In this mode, he uses his scope to see about three times farther than normal. However, his vision blurs when he shifts his aim, and he can only see a small slice of his surroundings. Because he is so focused, it takes him a second or two to return to the normal view. This ability does not snap to a target. If he is attacked from behind, he is stunned, making it even harder for him to escape alive. The rifle has a significant delay between shots.
Make Ammo
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/shapeshifter_A7N.jpg
The Journeyman goes to work making the ammunition for his current weapon. To do this, he chops down a tree, making use of the ironroots and explosive sap. He can only make up to the level of ammunition he has weapons for. If his hammer is selected, he devotes his time equally between ammo types. Although his years of experience make him a very fast worker, the job requires immense concentration to perform safely and drains mana. Once mana reaches 0, the Journeyman is exhausted and makes mistakes. He can severely injure or even kill himself. Increasing the skill level increases ammo build speed and decreases mana cost.
Shield Generator
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/builder_A6N.jpg
This AoE shield generator creates a force field bubble which reduces enemy ranged damage and slows the movement and attacks speed of enemies inside. Any ally that comes in contact with the bubbles surface gains a small temporary armor buff. Any enemy trying to cross the bubble's skin will be burned. The shield generator allows the Journeyman to attack towers for longer. Increasing the level increases the maximum damage / enemy struggling the shield can support. As time progresses and as the shield is damages, the shield becomes less effective at absorbing damage and the buff becomes weaker.
Ult: Ultimate Engineering
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/builder_A1N.jpg
Like Weapon Select, the Journeyman's ultimate has flexibility. When clicked, a popup will appear if Ultimate Engineering is level 2 or higher allowing him to select his craft. Both the steam ram and steambuchet can be exited by using weapon select
Level 1: Steam Turret
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/builder_A4N.jpg
Unlike the Savage 2 steam turret, the Journeyman's steam turret is manned by the Journeyman and delivers a massive amount of armor piercing damage for those slow enough to stay in its range. This weapon is particularly effective when the team is pushing against towers. It will keep the enemy heroes at bay and kill defending creeps. However, the bullets are weak against buildings and have limited ammunition.
Level 2: Steam Ram
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/batteringram_A1N.jpg
This loud siege weapon can be heard for miles around as it makes its slow, destructive trail toward the enemy base. The steam ram's strikes have a long cast time, and its slow turning speed make the journeyman inside an easy target, even through the thick armor. However, it does massive damage if it successfully lands a hit, such as in group fights. When an enemy draws close, it activates flame gets surrounding it to ward off the enemy. The flames cost mana, and are only really a problem for creeps and badly injured enemies. Because it's so loud when moving, the enemy towers will hear it long before they can see it, and will ping themselves. The steam ram has a very long cast time, and the Journeyman can be heard working on it.
Level 3: Steambuchet
http://www.savage2.com/en/images/units/steambuchet_A2N.jpg
Like the steam ram, this is a loud, slow unit that can be heard by enemy towers when moving. Its flaming projectiles do high building damage and have a large splash damage. Each shot takes mana to ignite. If mana is used up, the steambuchet will still be able to fire, but loses its splash damage.
