Anyone else find that the video lags massively while the audio is fine? Makes watching casts impossible

It's fine for me.

The new player isn't working very well for me because it uses RTMP and doesn't have any buffering. My ISP throttles a lot of incoming traffic and I rely on the buffering feature to 'download' the VOD by pausing the stream before watching it later. Would appreciate it if you guys went back to the buffering system :)

Anchovies - we will be offering HTTP as a failover option :).

New player seems to have been a massive failure, shame as there has been quite a few decent games casted recently.

when?
agree with all posts about massive fail... cant watch any videos currently, dunno why they are keeping them coming every day... load a bit (takes like 10 mins to load 1 min), then u watch it and it like watching a powerpoint show... screen doesnt even move... audio is fine tho

This is an issue with your PC or internet connection, we are currently testing an option for people who don't have the capability to keep up with the stream quality/bitrate.

Nope, we have received more positive comments than negative ones. :)

Based on the comments on all the recently uploaded videos there are more around issues with streaming than about the actual content. I can stream high quality videos from other websites fine so i'm not convinced it's my PC or internet connection.
EDIT: Just seen that you have added the option for switching between the two methods, thank god.

Honestly, I have a high end gaming computer (with an i7, etc) and a 25mb internet connection on Europe, so I doubt it's me not being able to keep up with a high quality stream (hardware wise, my ram usage increases a 2% when watching the video), maybe it's ISP issues, is there any IP to ping to so I can find out if my routing to the vods is having packet losses?

People at work probably think I'm retarded, I was cracking up.
That guy either had to be joking or they just re-used that clip. No way he says that every time.

I think you are highly unaware of the current issues of honcast....
previous players were fine for me.. Video would load faster then i could watch it. To think that it is a problem with my internet connection shows how misinformed you are. Are you unaware of this thread? how many people are complaining, on this thread, General Beta Forum, and on every single video currently being uploaded on honcast?
Please don't post next time if you don't know the situation.

New player is garbage, does not work at all. Internet connection is not an issue.

He knows more about the situation then me - since he, runs the network.
If you can't load the RTMP feeds, load the progressive ones. There is no difference between the progressive offered now and the progressive offered a few days ago.

What kind of internet connection and where are you located?
Some users have excellent connections in their country, but complete fail international connectivity.
The progressive option at the bottom of every video is the same method offered before, for users with issues connecting via RTMP.

It's a problem with poor routing on your end, or your machine seems incapable of rendering flash properly for some reason.
I run the Neva network, and we serve viewer numbers far greater than this community on a monthly basis - so I'm quite confident the platform is capable. For people like yourselves though, with poor connections, there is a progressive option available.
I was able to watch the stream on my laptop (Core Duo with 1,66GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600) in my wireless network (6mbit downlink, limited by ISP) without any issues.
No "high end gaming computer" needed for viewing honcast. :>

The problem has been identified as the new RTMP method being bandwidth intensive video with serving.
We have solved the issue for those of you with slower internet speeds by offering a "progressive" player on the site.
In the black box under the video you'll see a "Lag Issues? switch back to progressive stream"
click that.
still takes 3 x longer to load then the old player... definately will make me watch less videos

Absolutely nothing different between the old progressive and new progressive.

Absolutely nothing different between the old progressive and new progressive.
Yet for some reason the new progressive barely works at all, and I was previously able to watch honcast with no problems. Strange.

Are you using chrome? I do have issues on it, firefox none.
I'm also having this problem.
Been watching my internet connection history while streaming and it seems fine during the first minute and is loading at 400 kbps with downward spikes, but after 1 min it suddenly drops to 200 and stops after a while when I pause. This makes me believe that the speed is capped and forced from your end.
Became aware of this when i noticed the trend of aprox 2:1 loading to watch time and from that I'll guess the video format is standard flv with 400kbps, correct?
I live in Norway and don't have any problems watching 720p youtube videos or divxden exc.

There is a cap on individual progressive connections to my knowledge - don't think there is any cap on progressive since it only delivers the data as its requested. Mainly to prevent a few people with boss connections from raping bandwidth for others. But the cap isn't that low. I'm also not aware of any cap that starts off high and then limits down. A cap normally won't let you have any more then the cap.

Well, I checked it multiple times, and after exactly 60 seconds it halved to 200 with the same pattern indicating capped bandwidth. I also understand your skepticism and I'll upload some screnshots when i get home.
Also, your post is soaked in uncertainty, wtb real answers and not speculation.

progressive works well but that neva guy is really patronizing.
